Excellent Math App & It’s FREE!
For a free app, it’s an amazing math learning tool for kids. It even provides children a great learning tool in the report grade section for answers they get wrong. It goes through the incorrect problems step by step, to teach children how to correctly calculate the problem. This means parents don’t necessarily need to be present and can allow the child to become self-sufficient. The app can be programmed to set up individual accounts for each child.
She loves this
She thinks this is a very fun game and for me personally I think it is very educational my daughter is currently behind on maths but I can already see that she is getting better I think that it is a very calming game because my daughter has math anxiety and the calming music helps her focus I like that there are different levels that can suit your child it’s for everyone and I think it is a wonderful game
Versatile and free!
I’m a school teacher who has a number of students with gaps in their basic skills. This app gives great practice on key concepts and is highly customizable to target the proper level. Do check it out, I’ve looked through many of the free offerings and this is by far the best you can find without a subscription!

RPG for schoolchildren - Uchi.ru on vc.ru
What if education is built into the game? We talk about what game-based learning is and how the game helps students in grades 3-5 to train their mathematical skills.
4965 views
Game-based learning is becoming more and more noticeable - a type of gameplay during which the user gains knowledge or skills. Using the example of the Uchi.ru course “Magic Mathematics” (6+) for children in grades 3–5, which is an educational role-playing computer game (RPG), we talk about the basic principles of this approach.
Principle 1. The student tries on the role of the character
In game-based learning projects, the student perceives the main character as himself and solves his problems and tasks. In the course "Magical Mathematics" for grades 3-5, created in the RPG format, we invited students to try on the role of a future magician and fight against evil opponents: Slug, ghosts, Prince Pupyr and others. To do this, players need magic, which is released when solving mathematical problems. Thus, the guys indirectly receive knowledge, without which it will be impossible to win the game.
At the very beginning, a new user goes through onboarding, in which he immerses himself in the story and learns about the rules and goals of
The plot, closely related to the character, helps the student to get involved in the game better: the child associates himself with the wizard and the problems that have arisen. Therefore, it is important that the hero matches the target audience. Our research has shown that the world of magic fascinates most of the surveyed students in grades 3-5.
The child may not see the character himself - he may be present in the game invisibly: through a dialogue, a mission.
Principle 2: Play is the basis for learning content
In game-based learning projects, the game process itself is in the first place. The plot develops, the character develops, there is progress. Training is built into the game as a sideline. The child comes into the game to play, not to learn, so the learning elements need to be integrated seamlessly to complement the main story.
According to the plot of the Uchi.ru course "Magic Mathematics", the main character enters the school of magic, receives a task from a mentor, accumulates magic and uses it in battles
At the same time, the result of the game is new knowledge and consolidation of skills, the acquisition of which takes time: children train to add and subtract faster in a column, more freely operate with units of length, time, area and mass.
Principle 3: The student's goal is to have fun
In game-based learning projects, the student has clear goals:
- pass the level;
- defeat the "boss";
- complete the entire game.
He understands that he can pass all the levels only if he follows the rules. While playing, the child does not aim to improve mathematics, it is more interesting for him to move forward in the game.
To fight the ghosts in the Underworld, you need to accumulate magic in the crystal. One magic charge is equal to one solved task
Another source of interest is to customize and upgrade your character. You can get new clothes and accessories using points earned in battle.
Coins accumulated in won battles can be used to buy clothes for a hero or a skin for an assistant
Principle 4: Teaching takes into account the motivation of the child
Usually adults study to earn more: new skills and knowledge open access to new career steps, which, in turn, are associated with a higher level of income. High school students - to pass the exams well and enter the coveted university. How to work with the motivation of primary and secondary school children?
Game-based learning projects help to cope with this task: educational games have a well-thought-out interesting story that captures the child's attention, unexpected plot twists and a modern, age-adapted visual.
The RPG format engages in learning: children spend three times more time playing an educational game than solving ordinary tasks
Principle 5: Remuneration has a direct impact on course completion
In most gamified courses, the reward affects the learning process indirectly. For example, a rating among other students may spur some children to do the next test better, but for others it will be just information.
In game-based learning projects, the reward system is closed. This means that for a successfully completed level, the player is rewarded with a new, even more interesting level, character leveling or side quests.
A new theme is unlocked after a series of battles. Topics are connected and progressively more complex. For example, after "Fractions" will open "Irregular and mixed fractions"
This approach encourages the player to keep playing. New plot twists, new locations, and character upgrades, such as a stronger hit that he can deliver after n-th number of completed tasks, show the growth of the user inside the game. Usually the player wants to get everything at once, but he has to choose what is more important to spend the earned points on right now.
"What's next?" - the main question and the engine of the gameplay.
