Little red rid

The story of Little Red Riding Hood

[en español]

by Leanne Guenther

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived in a village near the forest.  Whenever she went out, the little girl wore a red riding cloak, so everyone in the village called her Little Red Riding Hood.

One morning, Little Red Riding Hood asked her mother if she could go to visit her grandmother as it had been awhile since they'd seen each other.

"That's a good idea," her mother said.  So they packed a nice basket for Little Red Riding Hood to take to her grandmother.

When the basket was ready, the little girl put on her red cloak and kissed her mother goodbye.

"Remember, go straight to Grandma's house," her mother cautioned.  "Don't dawdle along the way and please don't talk to strangers!  The woods are dangerous. "

"Don't worry, mommy," said Little Red Riding Hood, "I'll be careful."

But when Little Red Riding Hood noticed some lovely flowers in the woods, she forgot her promise to her mother.  She picked a few, watched the butterflies flit about for awhile, listened to the frogs croaking and then picked a few more.

Little Red Riding Hood was enjoying the warm summer day so much, that she didn't notice a dark shadow approaching out of the forest behind her...

Suddenly, the wolf appeared beside her.

"What are you doing out here, little girl?" the wolf asked in a voice as friendly as he could muster.

"I'm on my way to see my Grandma who lives through the forest, near the brook,"  Little Red Riding Hood replied.

Then she realized how late she was and quickly excused herself, rushing down the path to her Grandma's house.

The wolf, in the meantime, took a shortcut. ..

The wolf, a little out of breath from running, arrived at Grandma's and knocked lightly at the door.

"Oh thank goodness dear!  Come in, come in!  I was worried sick that something had happened to you in the forest," said Grandma thinking that the knock was her granddaughter.

The wolf let himself in.  Poor Granny did not have time to say another word, before the wolf gobbled her up!

The wolf let out a satisfied burp, and then poked through Granny's wardrobe to find a nightgown that he liked.  He added a frilly sleeping cap, and for good measure, dabbed some of Granny's perfume behind his pointy ears.

A few minutes later, Red Riding Hood knocked on the door.  The wolf jumped into bed and pulled the covers over his nose.  "Who is it?" he called in a cackly voice.

"It's me, Little Red Riding Hood."

"Oh how lovely!  Do come in, my dear," croaked the wolf.

When Little Red Riding Hood entered the little cottage, she could scarcely recognize her Grandmother.

"Grandmother!  Your voice sounds so odd.  Is something the matter?" she asked.

"Oh, I just have touch of a cold," squeaked the wolf adding a cough at the end to prove the point.

"But Grandmother!  What big ears you have," said Little Red Riding Hood as she edged closer to the bed.

"The better to hear you with, my dear," replied the wolf.

"But Grandmother!  What big eyes you have," said Little Red Riding Hood.

"The better to see you with, my dear," replied the wolf.

"But Grandmother!  What big teeth you have," said Little Red Riding Hood her voice quivering slightly.

"The better to eat you with, my dear," roared the wolf and he leapt out of the bed and began to chase the little girl.

Almost too late, Little Red Riding Hood realized that the person in the bed was not her Grandmother, but a hungry wolf.

She ran across the room and through the door, shouting, "Help!  Wolf!" as loudly as she could.

A woodsman who was chopping logs nearby heard her cry and ran towards the cottage as fast as he could.

He grabbed the wolf and made him spit out the poor Grandmother who was a bit frazzled by the whole experience, but still in one piece."Oh Grandma, I was so scared!"  sobbed Little Red Riding Hood, "I'll never speak to strangers or dawdle in the forest again."

"There, there, child.  You've learned an important lesson.  Thank goodness you shouted loud enough for this kind woodsman to hear you!"

The woodsman knocked out the wolf and carried him deep into the forest where he wouldn't bother people any longer.

Little Red Riding Hood and her Grandmother had a nice lunch and a long chat.

Perrault: Little Red Riding Hood

Perrault: Little Red Riding Hood

Charles Perrault

Once upon a time there lived in a certain village a little country girl, the prettiest creature who was ever seen. Her mother was excessively fond of her; and her grandmother doted on her still more. This good woman had a little red riding hood made for her. It suited the girl so extremely well that everybody called her Little Red Riding Hood.

One day her mother, having made some cakes, said to her, "Go, my dear, and see how your grandmother is doing, for I hear she has been very ill. Take her a cake, and this little pot of butter."

Little Red Riding Hood set out immediately to go to her grandmother, who lived in another village.

As she was going through the wood, she met with a wolf, who had a very great mind to eat her up, but he dared not, because of some woodcutters working nearby in the forest. He asked her where she was going. The poor child, who did not know that it was dangerous to stay and talk to a wolf, said to him, "I am going to see my grandmother and carry her a cake and a little pot of butter from my mother."

"Does she live far off?" said the wolf

"Oh I say," answered Little Red Riding Hood; "it is beyond that mill you see there, at the first house in the village. "

"Well," said the wolf, "and I'll go and see her too. I'll go this way and go you that, and we shall see who will be there first."

The wolf ran as fast as he could, taking the shortest path, and the little girl took a roundabout way, entertaining herself by gathering nuts, running after butterflies, and gathering bouquets of little flowers. It was not long before the wolf arrived at the old woman's house. He knocked at the door: tap, tap.

"Who's there?"

"Your grandchild, Little Red Riding Hood," replied the wolf, counterfeiting her voice; "who has brought you a cake and a little pot of butter sent you by mother."

The good grandmother, who was in bed, because she was somewhat ill, cried out, "Pull the bobbin, and the latch will go up."

The wolf pulled the bobbin, and the door opened, and then he immediately fell upon the good woman and ate her up in a moment, for it been more than three days since he had eaten. He then shut the door and got into the grandmother's bed, expecting Little Red Riding Hood, who came some time afterwards and knocked at the door: tap, tap.

"Who's there?"

Little Red Riding Hood, hearing the big voice of the wolf, was at first afraid; but believing her grandmother had a cold and was hoarse, answered, "It is your grandchild Little Red Riding Hood, who has brought you a cake and a little pot of butter mother sends you."

The wolf cried out to her, softening his voice as much as he could, "Pull the bobbin, and the latch will go up."

Little Red Riding Hood pulled the bobbin, and the door opened.

The wolf, seeing her come in, said to her, hiding himself under the bedclothes, "Put the cake and the little pot of butter upon the stool, and come get into bed with me."

Little Red Riding Hood took off her clothes and got into bed. She was greatly amazed to see how her grandmother looked in her nightclothes, and said to her, "Grandmother, what big arms you have!"

"All the better to hug you with, my dear."

"Grandmother, what big legs you have!"

"All the better to run with, my child. "

"Grandmother, what big ears you have!"

"All the better to hear with, my child."

"Grandmother, what big eyes you have!"

"All the better to see with, my child."

"Grandmother, what big teeth you have got!"

"All the better to eat you up with."

And, saying these words, this wicked wolf fell upon Little Red Riding Hood, and ate her all up.

Moral: Children, especially attractive, well bred young ladies, should never talk to strangers, for if they should do so, they may well provide dinner for a wolf. I say "wolf," but there are various kinds of wolves. There are also those who are charming, quiet, polite, unassuming, complacent, and sweet, who pursue young women at home and in the streets. And unfortunately, it is these gentle wolves who are the most dangerous ones of all.

Governor of Novgorod explained how to conduct mobilization in the region correctly

Overview of the main topics of the week: the President's visit and the election of the mayor of Veliky Novgorod

While crowded festivals are taking place at Yaroslav's Court and Vitoslavlitsy, small regional museums are preparing no less interesting programs for their guests. At the invitation of the Krasnaya Izba tourism office, the VNovgorod. ru correspondent got acquainted with the museums of the Proletariy village and its environs, where tourists are very welcome. nine0007

The Proletarian District House of Culture and Leisure and the Vzglyad Museum Association are developing many routes. With their help, you can visit the Museum of the Mill in the village of Zaval, which is 30 kilometers from Veliky Novgorod, the ethnographic museum of the village of Navolok, the former military settlement in Novoselitsy, and visit the excursion "Lermontov on Novgorod land." It is known that in 1838 the poet was transferred to the Life Guards of the Grodno Hussars, quartered in the barracks in Selishchi. For lovers of hiking, a route has been developed to the Shcheglets stone, where you can find ancient petroglyphs. To get to it, you need to cross about 12 streams. nine0003

In the past, guests of the Proletary could go on tours of the factory buildings, where “blue dishes” known throughout the Union were created. Now the factory buildings are gradually being destroyed, the main part of the exposition is stored in the district administration. And you can learn about the once stormy production as part of the excursion program "Visiting a Porcelain Cup" at the Porcelain Chime Museum in the Proletarsky District House of Culture.

The institution won the Timchenko Grand Fund for this project in 2015, ranking ninth in the North-West. According to the employees, “half of the house of culture” had to be rebuilt in nine months, but now it is possible to conduct excursions and master classes in porcelain painting, foundry, and pottery here. nine0003

Visitors to the museum begin their journey into the past on a boat and learn about the history of these places since 1495, when a village near Nisha was recorded in the census. In 1835, the famous bridge builder Casemir Reichel received land here and built a manor, and with it a windmill, which gave the name to the settlement.

His son, Piotr Reichel, set up the production of bricks, and then switched to the production of faience and porcelain. In 1892 the factory was bought by the merchant Ivan Kuznetsov. In 1918 the enterprise was nationalized, and in 19In 22, the plant and the village were renamed Proletary. The Vozrozhdenie plant grew out of the Proletarian workshop for the production of cobalt ("blue") products and eventually gained independence.

We talk about the origins of porcelain, which originated in China, and came to us during the time of Peter the Great, about the founder of porcelain production in Russia, Dmitry Vinogradov, and then we move on to the history of our factory. Guests will learn about the work of the workshops and get acquainted with casting from their own experience, trying to make a caviar pot, - says Tatyana Malafeeva, a museum employee. nine0003

Here you can find out that porcelain is composed of white clay, koalin, feldspar and quartz. And the process of porcelain production at the enterprise includes more than three thousand operations, during which the product loses a third of its mass. The final firing lasts about 32 hours at a temperature of 1380-1400 degrees Celsius.

Exhibition of rarities of porcelain art of the Soviet period - souvenirs, coffee and tea sets - still occupies a small office. The House of Culture hopes that in the future grant support will expand the exposition. nine0003

Care is taken here to preserve the memory of the masters. Local historian Alevtina Yakovleva, together with volunteers, collected material that was enough for three books about the dynasties of porcelain makers, the descendants of the masters who came here with Kuznetsov. The museum is also friends with the former artist of the Vozrozhdeniye plant, Ivan Berdnikov, who is happy to receive sightseers in his workshop.

Tourists get acquainted with the work of the painting and pottery workshops during master classes. We were shown how to draw a bell on a sugar bowl by Vladimir Yatsun, the chief artist of the Proletariy plant. It turned out to be not easy: there are tricks in how to pick up paint on a brush, and in how to draw paint over a product to make an elegant stroke. Brushes in those days were homemade and each master took care of his own, because it took a long time to get used to the new one. nine0003

In the next workshop, we had to crush the clay properly, and then sit down at the potter's wheel. The master suggests: first, with all your might, slap a clay lump on a circle, then center it - this is the most difficult thing. Constantly wetting your hands, you need to give the product a shape, and then push the inner cavity with your thumbs. Everyone gets something different: a bowl, a vase or a pot. We remove the raw product from the circle with the help of a special string and take it with us, having received instructions on how to dry it at home according to the ancient method of milking. nine0003

In parallel, the guys get acquainted with the interior of the village hut.

You can get closer to the peasant life in the local history museum "Bronnitskaya Land". They invite people here to Kapustki, cook cabbage soup from crumble, bake pies and put a samovar. At gatherings, guests learn to work on a loom, they can not do without games, round dances and fortune-telling. They are also invited to a fishing meal in the village of Navolok: to catch fish, cook fish soup, but not simple, but on a triple broth, mend the nets and bake a fish box. nine0003

There is also an exposition dedicated to the history of the village and the development of porcelain production. They also tell about the mystery of the Bronnitskaya Mountain, and if the guests become very interested, they will be taken to the foot of the mountain right on a cart. It's true, something, something, and regional museums do not take ingenuity, and we invite readers to see this for themselves.
