The meaning of words in dictionaries

wordmap

The complexity and versatility of the Russian language sometimes surprise even its native speakers. The peculiarity lies in the lack of structure. After all, a lot of liberties are allowed not only in the construction of sentences. The use of some word forms also has several variations.

Difficulties and peculiarities of working with the word

The Russian language has a huge number of assumptions that cannot be found in other cultures. Indeed, not only literary words are often used in speech, of which there are more than 150 thousand. But also dialectisms. Since there are many peoples and cultures in Russia, there are more than 250 thousand of them. Not surprisingly, even native speakers sometimes need to find the exact meanings of words. This can be done using explanatory dictionaries or a special WordMap service.

Why is such a platform convenient? This is a clear and simple dictionary of word meanings, which is proposed to be used online. The service allows:

  • to find out the exact meaning of a word or idiom;
  • determine its correct spelling;
  • understand how to properly emphasize it.

The site offers to get acquainted with the history of the word. It tells what language or culture it came from, when and by whom it was used in speech.

When looking up the meaning of words in a dictionary, it is important to understand its essence. After all, the sound component of each lexical unit in the language is inextricably linked with certain objects or phenomena. That is why when using the service, you should not put an equal sign between the meaning of the searched word and its concept. They are interconnected, but they are not a single whole. For example, the concept of the word "center" can be defined as the middle of something. However, specific meanings can indicate the interior of a room, a city, a geometric figure, etc. Sometimes it refers to a medical organization, mathematics or mechanical engineering. Polysemy is the complexity of the Russian language.

Anastasia Orlova's family rhymes - Year of Literature

Text: Anastasia Orlova

Collage: Year of Literature. RF

Photographer: Svetlana Pyankova

For me, the 8th of March has always been another reason to please my mother. Holidays generally seemed to be the main motivator for my new ideas. You have to cook something special for your mom. Plasticine Pinocchio? Yes! Salt dough baked lady? Of course. Foil cat? Undoubtedly. Razor-cut contour pictures from colored paper. Mom will be surprised! A papier-mâché plate with a bas-relief of grated newspapers. Who would have thought! You can do a lot for your mom. Even half a year secretly embroider a small pillow-pincushion with a cross.

Moms are power!

Tenderness, love and warmth to you, my dears!

I'm running along the beach to my mother

I am running along the shore to my mother.

Mom is wearing a hat with a large brim.

Big big brim

With berries and flowers,

Birds and clouds,

Apple orchards

And sunny cities,

Seas and ships,

And a little, little girl

Blonde,

Running along the coast to her mother,

A mother in a hat

Large, large brim.

SKYSCRAPER BOOTS

Mom has one

Skyscraper boots.

Mom wears them to

See beyond and understand what is there,

And to be closer to birds and planes.

Mother in her boots

Flies over the city,

Mom in heels,

Soars in the clouds again.

Mom, how is it up there?

Feeling dizzy?

But from afar to mother

Words do not reach ...

MOMMY

Mommy's slipper

Pink butterflies,

Flowers on the dressing gown

Unprecedented beauty.

When I become a mother,

Then I will turn into a clearing!

I HAVE TIGERS ON SOCKS

I have tigers on my toes,

I play jumping games.

And this is a girl Nina,

Light as a ballerina,

Flutters around her mom:

She has butterflies on her socks!

GOOL-DIRT

Through mud and dust

Ghouls walked with their paws.

And straight through the puddle

We ran barefoot!

Well, ghouls - grief right!

And where is their mother looking?

SONNY

Small globe -

Son of the planet,

Round like mother

How mom dressed:

Strange spots

On a blue coat,

But pure white

Hat but.

MOMMY WILL BE HAPPY!

Five-finger stick

I found a lot,

Long,

Good,

Looks like a hand!

Mom will be happy -

There is no better gift!

She would like a couple more,

So that there are enough hands for everything!

CHILDREN

At the mother hen

Children are growing up.

Eldest daughter

Named Kvochka.

Middle child -

In honor of Mother Nasedka.

Youngest daughter —

Little Hen.

A fourth baby

Dad's pride is the Cockerel!

NIGHT

Mom, hug me!

Hold me tight!

Strong-strong,

Enough

Me until the next day.

i'm getting bigger

I am growing,

Extendable,

And various knowledge

Filling up!

But

Favorite jacket has become small -

Scary!

Such things scare.

And soon it will happen

The worst thing,

I refuse to understand:

Dear Mom,

Beloved mother

Cannot handle

Lift me up!

i rock my mom

Today I am in our

I don't miss the yard,

And all because

That I shake my mother.

I rock my mom

On a shaky perch,

Mom flies

With a strange smile.

I'm so rocking -

Don't stop!

But it seems that mother is

Not at all afraid!

Doubt-excitement

The wind sweeps away.
