And now, finally, the number of hotel bookings is approaching pre-pandemic levels. At the same time, according to the Internet service Horeca Point, one of the biggest problems for 97% of hotels today is the lack of labor. And this negatively affects the quality of customer service. But every cloud has a silver lining: this has forced the hospitality industry to adopt more and more digital technologies.

Is it possible to have a hotel without staff? Without friendly girls at the front desk, without a mustachioed porter to help carry your suitcase? A few years ago, the correspondent of "RG" visited such a hotel. In the deserted hall there is a scoreboard where you can register yourself and get a pin code to enter the room, in the room there is a laptop from which you can control everything from the curtains to the TV volume. What emotions do you experience? Uncertainty, surprise, the need to see a living person who will tell or confirm that you are doing everything right. But then - before the pandemic - it was more of an attraction, and now it is becoming commonplace before our eyes. Last year's research by the international corporation Oracle Hospitality showed that the last three years have changed our perception of reality. A survey of 600 hoteliers and 5,000 hotel guests around the world showed that the hospitality industry must go touchless. 40% of guests cited this as their top priority, and 62% of hotel owners surveyed said they would make it possible by 2025.

According to Russian expert in the field of digitalization of the hotel business Timofey Kryshka, we are still far from this: “It should be noted that the hospitality industry is currently one of the least digitized. technologies, the risk of losing contact with the guest. - There are many different IT solutions for the hotel industry on the market today. For example, a personnel management system that monitors the workload of employees during working hours and helps to properly allocate staff resources, which, in turn, reduces operating costs and increases hotel revenue.

There are also more applied solutions, such as the GoodStay electronic menu. Consumer habits are significantly transformed, it is no longer comfortable for guests to make phone calls to place an order in a restaurant or choose one of the hotel services, the ability to place an order electronically significantly increases sales conversion and customer loyalty. This category also includes room management systems - the idea of a "smart home" when, using a mobile application, a guest can turn on the light, adjust the temperature, control the curtains, order cleaning. Artificial intelligence is also used to collect information about customers, store and analyze it, as well as to generate personal offers based on this data. In addition, face recognition technology for entering the room is being tested in a number of countries. Perhaps in the future it will also be distributed. There are even more futuristic developments, such as "electronic reception" technologies, when there is no interaction with a person at all, but so far only hotels are implementing them, for which technology is the basis of the concept.
