IF IT DOESN’T ADVANCE THE FIGHT ON THE FRONT LINE,
IT DOESN’T ROLL OFF OUR LINE.
Innovate to impact, invent to advance. Because what we really manufacture is confidence. So when it’s time to bring the fight to fire, those bringing it are at their very best. A simple premise becomes our promise – if a Rosenbauer fire truck doesn’t put firefighters at their best, we’re back at the drawing board until it does. And when it does roll off our line, it’s the world’s best — and your assurance that if it has an “R” on it, you have our word on it.

Today’s Wonder of the Day was inspired by Roberta. Roberta Wonders, “Why are firetrucks red?” Thanks for WONDERing with us, Roberta!
Did you hear the one about the little girl who called the fire department because her house was on fire? The dispatcher asked how to get to her house, and she replied, “Duh! Big red truck!"
OK…so that's an old joke, but it does reveal a common fact that many people WONDER about: why are fire trucks red? If you ask anyone to color a picture of a fire truck, they'll most likely color it red. Why is that?
One popular answer to why fire trucks are red goes something like this: “Because they have eight wheels and four people on them, and four plus eight makes twelve, and there are twelve inches in a foot, and one foot is a ruler, and Queen Elizabeth was a ruler, and Queen Elizabeth was also a ship, and the ship sailed the seas, and there were fish in the seas, and fish have fins, and the Finns fought the Russians, and the Russians are red, and fire trucks are always “Russian" around, so that's why fire trucks are red!"
Of course, that's just a joke with questionable logic. The real reason why fire trucks are red remains somewhat shrouded in mystery. There are, however, a few competing theories out there, one of which may contain some or most of the truth.
For example, one theory holds that fire trucks are red, because the earliest fire departments were made up of unpaid volunteers. These volunteers didn't have much money, and red was the cheapest color of paint to use, so they painted their fire trucks red.
A competing theory dates back to the same time when fire departments were composed of unpaid volunteers. According to this other theory, however, there was fierce competition amongst the volunteer brigades of neighboring towns. Because red was the most expensive color of paint, volunteers used red to make their fire trucks stand out as a source of pride.
Of course, these two theories are related but opposite. Another theory holds that fire trucks were painted red to make them stand out from all the other vehicles on the road. In the early 1900s, Ford only offered cars in black, so red fire trucks would be sure to stand out amidst the sea of black vehicles on the road.
Standing out from the crowd is obviously a good quality for a fire truck — or any emergency vehicle — to have. But is red the best color to stand out, especially at night? Experts would say, “No!" Rather than red, studies have shown that yellow or lime green is most easily seen after dark.
Today, red remains by far the most popular color for fire trucks and a variety of other emergency vehicles. However, you will also see many other colors of fire trucks. For example, it's not uncommon to see fire trucks that are white, yellow, blue, orange, green, and even black.

Fire - Marshak. Full text of the poem - Fire
On the market square,
On the fire tower
Around the clock
Watchman at the booth
Looked around -
To the north,
To the south,
To the west,
To the east -
Can't see the smoke.
And if he saw a fire,
Floating carbon monoxide smoke,
He raised a signal balloon
Above the fire tower.
And two balls, and three balls
Soared up, it happened.
And from the fire yard
The team left.
The ringing of alarms woke up the people,
The pavement was trembling.
And rushed forward with a roar
The team was daring ... Now there is no need for towers, -
Call
And report the fire
to the nearest area.
Let every citizen remember
Fire number: zero-one!
There is a concrete house in the area -
Three floors and above -
With a large yard and a garage
And with a tower on the roof.
Taking turns, on the top floor
Firefighters are sitting,
And their cars are in the garage
They look at the door with a motor.
As soon as - at night or during the day -
They will give an alarm,
A dashing detachment of fire fighters
Rushing along the road ...
Mother was leaving for the market,
She said to daughter Lena:
- Do not touch the stove, Lenochka.
It burns, Lenochka, fire!
Only mother came down from the porch,
Lena sat down in front of the stove,
Looks at the red crack,
And the fire hums in the stove.
Lena opened the door —
Fire jumped off the log,
Burned the floor in front of the stove,
Climbed up the tablecloth onto the table,
Ran over the chairs with a bang,
Crawled up the curtains,
Covered the walls with smoke,
Licks the floor and ceiling.
But the firemen found out
Where it was burning, in which block.
The commander gives a signal,
And now - in a single moment -
Cars break out
From the open gates.
They rush into the distance with a booming ringing.
There is no obstacle on their way.
And changes to green
There is a red light in front of them.
Zero minutes cars
They reached the fire,
They lined up at the gates,
They connected an elastic hose,
And, swollen with exertion,
He scored like a machine gun.
Carbon monoxide smoke swirled.
Harju's room is full.
In his arms Kuzma the fireman
Carried Lena out of the window.
He, Kuzma, is an old fireman.
Twenty years extinguished fires,
Saved forty souls from death,
Fought with flames more than once.
He is not afraid of anything,
Puts on mittens,
Boldly climbs the wall.
The helmet glows in the fire.
Suddenly on the roof from under the beam
Someone's pitiful cry was heard,
And to cut through the fire
Kuzma climbed into the attic.
He stuck his head in the window,
Looked... - Yes, it's a cat!
You will be lost here in the fire.
Reach into my pocket!..
The flame rages widely...
Spreading tongues,
Licking the neighboring houses.
Kuzma fights back.
Seeks a path in the flames,
Calls the younger ones for help,
And hurries to call him
Three tall fellows.
They destroy beams with axes,
Extinguish fires with hoses.
Thick black cloud
Smoke curls behind them.
The flame shudders and gets angry,
Runs away like a fox.
A jet from afar
Drives the beast from the attic.
The logs have turned black...
Evil fire hisses from the crack:
— Spare me, Kuzma,
I won't burn houses!
- Shut up, insidious fire!
The fireman tells him.
- I'll show you Kuzma!
I'll put you in jail!
Stay only in the oven,
In an old lamp and on a candle!
On the panel in front of the house —
A table, and chairs, and a bed…
They go to friends
Lena and her mother spend the night.
The girl is crying sobbingly,
And Kuzma says to her:
— You can’t fill the fire with tears,
We extinguish the flame with water.
You will live and live.
Only mind - do not set fire!
Here is a cat for you.
Dry it a little!
The job is done. Hang up.
And again along the pavement
Cars rushed,
They trumpeted, rang,
The ladder is going, the pump.
Dust curls from under the wheels.
Here is Kuzma in a crumpled helmet.
His head is bandaged.
Bloody forehead, black eye -
Yes, not for the first time.
He did not work in vain -
Nicely coped with the fire!

How to draw a car
Draw a large curved line.
Frame: @Easy Kids Drawings / YouTubeFrom each of its edges, add one rounded down line.
Frame: @Easy Kids Drawings / YouTubeBelow, under the edges of the first arc, draw round wheels. Draw a smaller circle inside each.
Frame: @Easy Kids Drawings / YouTubeFrom the edges of the side smooth lines, draw straight segments to the wheels, and then draw a straight line between them.
Frame: @Easy Kids Drawings / YouTubeAt the bottom right and left of the wheels, add narrow rounded shapes as shown in the image.
Frame: @Easy Kids Drawings / YouTubeUnder the upper arc, slightly to the left of the middle, draw a straight vertical line. Draw another one from it to the bottom right, not reaching the edge of the figure. Connect them with an arcuate line - you get a window.
Frame: @Easy Kids Drawings / YouTubeDraw a second, smaller box on the left in the same way.
Frame: @Easy Kids Drawings / YouTubeUnder the windows add a small oval handle and in the front a round headlight.
