10 excellent children's books about cars, trains and other vehicles

10 excellent children's books about cars, trains and other vehicles

For true connoisseurs of the topic!

In the life of almost every mother there comes a moment when she spends her walks looking at trucks and snowplows, and the difference between a scraper and a grader is better than a specialist. The thing is that many children are terribly fond of transport!

Cars around

Author and illustrator: Stephan Lohr

Publisher: Melik-Pashaev

Age: 2-5 years

This Wimmelbuch does not contain author's comments, search tasks or captions under the pictures, but only large centerfold illustrations depicting various equipment and, of course, people. The spreads are partly devoted to a single topic, for example, one of them has a lot of construction vehicles, while the other shows mainly water transport. At the same time, the book does not turn into an encyclopedia, where everything is strictly sorted by topic: transport here is drawn in the space of a city and a village, all cars are racing somewhere or performing other tasks, and people are walking along the streets. A flyover has been built next to the construction site, along which a train rushes, and along the coast of the water area there is a highway, all sorts of cars go along it! The author does not forget to joke, in some places the reader will come across funny scenes or unexpected characters. For example, if you look closely at the drawings, you can find an elephant driving one of the cars, and a wrench on a car service sign turns out to be decorated with a heart-shaped ball. nine0003

Around the Cars is one of ten books in the Picture Stories series, which selects the best foreign books of the seek and find genre on a variety of topics, from a circus performance to a football match.

Amazing Trains

Author: Ian Graham

Translator: Boris Itskovich

Illustrator: Stephen Bisty

Publisher: Mann, Ivanov i Ferber

Age: 3+

The book depicts a variety of trains, from the first steam locomotive to the modern bullet train. On each spread of this huge cardboard there are two levels: one, external, describes the appearance of the locomotive and all the accompanying infrastructure (rails, electric wires, workers). The second one is hidden behind cardboard flaps-windows, by bending which you can get acquainted with the internal structure of the train. The illustrations are scrupulous and detailed, it seems that the artist did not miss a single detail, all the more surprising that the book did not turn into a kind of technical reference book, but remained a beautiful art edition. We add that every little thing in these drawings is accompanied by detailed explanations, which makes the book a unique publication: it will interest both the kid, who for now just likes to look at the locomotives, show where they have wheels, wagons, etc. , and his parent, who is preoccupied with questions than supporting the wheels differ from the guides and where the power plant is hidden in the ultra-high-speed locomotive. nine0003

This book's illustrator, Stephen Bisty, is a master at drawing mechanisms and explaining the inner workings of everything from architecture to spaceships with pictures. In addition, the book "Amazing Trains" is supplemented by "Giant Transport" and "Rescue Vehicles", created according to the same principles.

All cars

Author and illustrator: Carl Johanson

Translator: Marina Konobeeva

Publisher: Samokat

Age: 3-7 years old

Swedish artist Carl Johansson's visual encyclopedia contains about 150 images. Half of the pictures are real vehicles: a tractor, a bulldozer, a roller, a fire truck, a snowmobile and others. Cars are sorted by color and purpose: in one place - construction equipment, in another - fire engine, in the third - cars that work at the airport. These pages with real cars alternate with pages filled with unusual and fantastic cars. Looking at them, readers will be surprised at the author's ingenuity and laugh heartily, because there you can find an abstract car, a banana car, an Anglobus, an infinite car, a julver car, a gnomo car and dozens of other unexpected names. The book greatly stimulates the imagination: little readers, having seen enough of Johanson's inventions, begin to invent their own modes of transport and it turns out they are no less interesting. nine0003

In addition to this semi-fantastic book about cars, the Samokat publishing house published a book by Karl Johansson "All Aviation Engineering". It features many fictitious aircraft and large unfolding illustrations.

It's time for repairs!

Author: Emily Andren

Translator: Ksenia Kovalenko

Illustrator: Sara Savolainen nine0003

Publisher: Albus Corvus

Age: 3-5 years old

A picture book by Scandinavian authors tells about a day in the life of a town that has a car repair shop, roads, road workers and a wide variety of vehicles. The auto repair shop workers were just about to rest and drink coffee, but then the driver of the sports car got into an accident, the bus blew a tire, and the engine of the moped broke down. All of them, not without the help of the Ture Person tractor, went to the auto repair shop, and at that time the workers began to repair the hole on the road. By evening, all the problems were solved and car mechanics Astrid, Axel and Alfred were finally able to finish their coffee and eat the cake. nine0003

A great variety of cars are drawn in this book, the little reader will see how they work with clear examples and learn what to do if there is a problem with the car. But there is in the story "It's time for repairs!" something more important is the social responsibility of all the characters. Tractor driver Thure Person tows a broken car to a car repair shop and calls road workers himself. They immediately begin to repair the road, and the author informs the reader: “The cars slowed down, going around the place where the road was being repaired. That's right! We must respect the workers and follow the rules.” nine0003

Illustrator Sara Savolainen is familiar to Russian readers from a series of books about the girl Vesta-Linna and her family. This summer, the Albus Corvus publishing house delights readers with two new books with her illustrations: “Time for repairs!” and "School of a tractor driver".

Vehicle

Author and illustrator: Vladimir Tambi

Publisher: Art-Volkhonka

Age: 3-5 years old

A small book by the Leningrad artist "Automobile" was first published in 1930. There is almost no text in it, only at the very beginning of the book the author briefly describes each of the cars depicted in the book. Further, the reader is only waiting for U-turns with cars, which today we would certainly designate with the prefix "retro": landaulet, six-wheeled bus, golden arrow, taxi, postal omnibus and other amazing constructions with poetic names. Although the book by Vladimir Tambi is almost a hundred years old and we have before us its full-fledged reprint, it seems quite modern: moderately bright, concise in a good way, and the emphasis is on visual information. nine0003

The book was published as part of the set "V. Tambi's Living Machines", which included six works by the artist about transport, created by him in the 20-30s. of the last century: "Car", "Racing on the water", "Airplane", "Warships", "Aeronautics", "Air workers".

Truck and trailer go on a business trip

Author: Anastasia Orlova

Illustrator: Olga Demidova

Publisher: Rosmen

Age: 3-5 years old

“A truck and a trailer are going on a business trip” is a continuation of Anastasia Orlova’s bestseller “This is a truck, and this is a trailer”. In this story, the truck is almost always angry with the trailer: he needs to go to the city on a business trip, but the trailer did not let him go alone, hitched on and drove behind. Very uncomfortable! On the way, the truck met a road sign prohibiting the passage of large vehicles, in the city it was loaded with heavy tires, which made it even harder to drive, so the truck’s mood completely deteriorated. Then the trailer would let him go - there is no joy in hitting the road with such a disgruntled comrade, but after all, a trailer without a truck will not go anywhere! On the way back, the truck had an accident and nearly fell off a cliff, but was kept on by a trailer. It was then that the truck felt ashamed, and on the way home he realized that it was not easy for the trailer either: he could not choose where to go, and always had to follow the truck. nine0003

“A truck and a trailer go on a business trip”, of course, only pretends to be a book about cars (there are actually a lot of cars, especially in the city where our heroes will come), in fact, this is another story about the relationship between children and parents, an adult responsible Truck and a small Trailer who is interested in everything everywhere, and he can’t let the Truck go about his business!

Miracle Machine Museum

Author: Linda Sarah

Illustrator: Ben Mantle

Publisher: Polyandria

Age: 4-7 years old

Boy Tom lives alone with his dad, who loves to build amazing cars out of unexpected things. He assembled a two-seat van, a mechanical hummingbird, a musical airship, a cartolator, and dozens of other moving mechanisms. Life in the midst of this technical creativity was wonderful, but only until dad lost his job. He stopped inventing machines and was sad all the time. One day, dad told Tom that they would have to move: the family no longer had enough money for a big house. The boy had a better idea, he suggested that his father open the "Museum of Wonder Machines" and show people his father's inventions. The plan worked, but the family's misadventures did not end there: Tom and dad's house was destroyed by a hurricane. Now dad did not give up, but simply built a new house. Absolutely special: he could fly! nine0003

Wonder Machine Museum tells the wonderful story of the friendship between father and son, and shows that engineering and construction can be a great hobby that brings the whole family together. The little reader will consider the most interesting mechanisms of dad and Tom, and maybe he will come up with ideas of his own projects.

How to build a railroad

Author and illustrator: Martin Sodomka

Translator: Polina Loseva

Publisher: Mann, Ivanov i Ferber

Age: 7-11 years old

Max, the hero of a technical fairy tale, gets a job at a factory. He has to go from a worker to a design engineer, and with his help the reader will see all the stages of creating a 19th-century railway. The plot of the fairy tale is simple, but there are many technical descriptions in the book: it is not only about the locomotive itself, it covers the entire construction process, starting with the purchase of land and laying rail tracks. The reader will follow the mouse from the foundry to the blacksmith and beyond, to the construction of the station and tunnels. The railway will start working, first there will be an accident, and then, after the elimination of its consequences, regular railway communication will finally be established in the mouse state. We add that all complex technical details are not only explained in the text, but also depicted in detailed drawings, sometimes reminiscent of technical drawings. nine0003

"How to Build a Railway" is the fifth and longest of the technical tales by the Czech writer and artist Martin Sodomka. Previously, the publishing house published all the previous books in the series, among which there are also How to Assemble a Car and How to Assemble a Motorcycle.

How to assemble a car

Author and Illustrator: Alan Snow

Translator: V. Nikolaenko

Publisher: AST

Age: 7-11 years old

If in the previous book the trains were designed by mice, then crows are building this car. The little crow was very surprised by the fast car, and he had a dream: to create his own. By chance, the crows found an abandoned auto repair shop, where there were many parts, as well as plans and drawings. Armed with them, the birds assembled an unusual racing car that could accelerate to 360 km/h. The author accompanies the story of how the crows made their car with technical descriptions on separate sidebars and numerous illustrations. Perhaps not every automotive guide for adults will draw every detail of the engine so carefully! nine0003

The book "How to Build a Car" is about fulfilling a dream and achieving a goal, and it also contains good jokes. Alan Snow is the author of many books and several encyclopedias, however, only two of them have been translated into Russian: "How to assemble a car" and his script for the cartoon "Monster Family".

Legendary cars of Russia

Author: Mikhail Pegov

Illustrator: Vladimir Golubev

Publisher: Nastya i Nikita

Age: 7-11 years old

Chaika car, LiAZ-677 bus, lorries from the city of Gorky, Pobeda — these cars can only be seen today in museums or cinemas. They and other cars are mentioned in M. Pegov's book "Legendary Cars of Russia": who invented them, where they were created and how they were used. The book begins with a description of the invention by Lieutenant Yakovlev and engineer Frese of the first Russian car. Further, Pegov talks about the appearance of trucks, Zhiguli cars, modeled on the Italian Fiats, and casually advises watching the Soviet comedy Beware of the Car! Unfortunately, the author is limited to the Soviet period, and the book does not say anything about the current state of the automotive industry in Russia. nine0003

"Legendary Cars of Russia" is the ninth book by Mikhail Pegov, written by him for the Nastya and Nikita publishing house. In the same format, his books about aeronautics, the Russian fleet, fire protection, and aircraft were published.

In Bashkiria, businessmen have chosen the five most popular trucks — Business FM

Alfa-Leasing specialists have learned from entrepreneurs which trucks were most often bought by business in the region in 2022. They noted that Bashkiria is an actively developing region, thanks in part to construction and agriculture. The region is supported by investments of local businesses in high-quality trucks: dump trucks and tractors. nine0003

Three types of transport equipment are most in demand in Bashkiria: dump trucks, truck tractors and curtain side trailers. They accounted for about 70% of orders in the region in 2022. Such demand is explained by the fact that dump trucks, like tractors, are universal machines that help in solving a wide range of tasks.

Trucks are needed by various businesses: construction companies and freight carriers, as well as enterprises of the agro-industrial complex and the trade sector. In 2022, the equipment was needed for the construction of roads and highways and for the organization of cargo transportation. nine0003

KAMAZ 43118

KAMAZ is, in principle, a time-tested domestic truck. But, unlike many other KamAZ trucks, on the 43118th the cargo platform is installed close to the cab, which makes it as long and roomy as possible.

MAZ-650128

Belarusian MAZ-650128 is one of the most advanced dump trucks in its class. Moreover, both in terms of the power plant and in terms of the volume of cargo transported (20m3). Business owners value MAZ vehicles for their reliability, low operating costs, modern design, and a wide range of models and configurations. nine0003

In 2022, the share of Chinese vehicles in the Russian truck market increased significantly. This is connected not only with the departure of European importers from Russia, but also with competitive prices and rich equipment of Chinese cars. In the list of the most popular transport equipment, a car from China takes three out of five places.

Shacman 33186t366

The Shacman SX3318DT366 is a heavy-duty, four-axle dump truck that combines good flotation, a durable engine, and a pleasant cab interior. Together with the engine, a 12-speed manual gearbox and an 8 × 4 drive wheel formula interact. nine0003

HOWO T5G 8×4

Chinese HOWO T5G has a lifting capacity of 32 tons. It is produced in the versions "truck tractor" and "universal truck chassis" - for the installation of large concrete mixing plants and other special working superstructures.

JAC N350

The JAC N350 6x4 dump truck is designed to transport soil, ore, construction debris and other cargo on any surface, including off-road.
