15. The Dinosaur Expert by Margaret McNamara (K–3)

Superstar teacher Mr. Tiffin is back! (Should we set him up with Ms. Frizzle?) This time he’s taking his class to the natural history museum. In this title, dinosaurs are organized by size, prompting plenty of great conversations about comparisons. This is the perfect series for introducing informational text features, too.

21. Dinosaur Feathers by Dennis Nolan (pre-K-3)

This rhyming book has a big idea: Dinosaurs and birds are related! It’s perfect for working with kids on generating questions and determining the author’s message in informational text. (Plus, you’ll get a phonics workout pronouncing all those species names!)

The popular early reader character duo will draw kids in, and this spinoff series packs plenty of memorable information. We like how it dispels some common myths about dinosaurs.

23. Prehistoric Actual Size by Steve Jenkins (K–4)

We adore this title and its non-paleontological companion, Actual Size. The true-to-life illustrations of dinosaur parts—and one entire dinosaur—make a memorable impression. It’s also good for helping kids understand that dinosaurs weren’t the only prehistoric creatures.

Reviews on the book "Stories about dinosaurs"

Booky_wife ! Is it enough in these words of my love for him? I think the hardest thing to talk about is someone you admire and love unconditionally. For all.

Ray Bradbury's Stories of Dinosaurs is a collection of short stories for those who hardly know him. Judging by the small volume (only 6 stories) and large print, it is intended for a young audience (keep it in mind if you are planning to buy).

Bradbury himself always writes about dinosaurs with great love: he has them both alive ("Thunder Came"), and mysterious ("Howler"), and toys ("Tyrannosaurus Rex"). And never - terrible and terrible.

What I like about Bradbury's stories is that he doesn't just tell a story: they went somewhere and something happened. In every even the smallest work there is life and feelings, there are ideas and thoughts that you want to think over and digest in silence after reading.

That is why his stories are not read en masse, one by one. You need to pause and comprehend what you read, to experience together with the author and the characters what happens to them. This is his great skill: to create something bright, memorable, touching to the depths of the soul out of several dozen words.

I recommend this book to girls and boys who love dinosaurs. It will allow you to look at them in a completely different way. August 4, 2019 There are 2 very interesting poems!!!! And the stories are quite concise! In general, my rating is 5 minus.

Rated the book

There are 6 works in the book: 2 poems and 4 stories. One of the stories was new to me (or I forgot it), the rest have long been loved. I had never come across the lyrics before.

This book is all about dinosaurs, they were Grandpa Ray's great love. This collection was conceived by him himself, we publish for the first time, also with a new translation.

There are wonderful stories here, but my favorite is "Roll of Thunder" ("Thunder Came"). To goosebumps.
An illustration of how a butterfly accidentally killed in the era of dinosaurs can radically change our modern world. For me, it is also about awareness, care for the environment. About how much our rash actions can affect the future of the planet.

Grandpa Ray, thank you for opening the door for me to the world of science fiction, which used to seem terribly boring to me, for a huge number of short, but very capacious and poignant stories, for being with us on this planet.

90,000 books about dinosaurs: fairy tales and fiction

Dinosaurs are no less enchanting than dragons. Amazing and bewitching, they really lived millions of years ago, and this excites the imagination. Few children avoid dinosaur mania. Someone will “get sick” at preschool age, and someone will seriously study paleontology.
This collection contains fiction books about dinosaurs: fairy tales, science fiction, stories.

John Jory "That's what dinosaurs do!"

Dinosaur Harry loved to growl. At the bus stop, in the park, in the store - anywhere! Even when others do not really like such behavior. It's so much fun, and, after all, he's a dinosaur! One weekend, Harry was having a lot of fun, growling from the heart, and his throat hurt.
“I forbid you to growl for a week!” - said the doctor, and the dinosaur resigned. Even though it wasn't easy. The kid was tormented by the question: will others understand how real dinosaurs act?
An emotional and funny book about the importance of being yourself. The illustrations are drawn by the creator of the famous animated series "The Angry Birds" and "Madagascar".
Recommended age: from 2 years old.

James Mayhew Katy and the Dinosaurs

Katya loves to walk with her grandmother and go to different interesting places. This time they ended up in a natural history museum. Grandmother sat down to rest, and Katya walked away for a while and accidentally opened the mysterious door (by the way, do not forget to remind the children not to open secret doors, it can be dangerous).
The girl ended up in the Jurassic period and immediately met a small hadrosauric who lost her mother. Katy helps the baby, and then saves a whole group of herbivorous dinosaurs from a hungry predator. This requires a lot of courage and courage, but what can you not do for the sake of friendship!
Fairy-tale motifs are organically intertwined with scientific data: the book mentions the real names of dinosaurs, talks about their habitat, structural features and development.
In total, seven books were published about Katya: “Katya in the Art Gallery”, “Katya and Sunflowers”, “Katya and Mona Lisa” and others.
Recommended age: from 3 years old.

Sean Rubin "Bolivar"

Huge New York, crowds of people, everyone is always in a hurry about their business. And no one notices that a respectable dinosaur lives among them. He - just like those around him - goes to exhibitions, shops, attends concerts, loves to read books. Only one attentive girl is aware and even tries to convey this to others, but there is absolutely no time for everyone. Even her own mother doesn't believe stories about a dinosaur renting an apartment nearby. It would have continued like this, until one day...
The highly artistic comic book about a dinosaur named Bolivar won 11 awards in its first year of existence. The story also touches upon a social problem: the modern pace of life does not allow us to notice what is happening under our noses. Including our own children.
Recommended age: from 5 years old.

Lyudmila Vasilyeva-Gangnus "Mesozoic holidays"

Red-haired Fields is a mischievous curious girl. Together with her friend Rita, she snuck into the laboratory of her brother Fedya, a lover of scientific experiments. Accidentally - according to the law of the genre, this happens precisely by accident - they committed a forgery. As a result, Pteranodon and Labyrinthodont from the Mesozoic era were born. It was called "yaitsyulove", that is, evolution in the opposite direction. Guests from the past made a merry life in the village: cows and grandmothers were carried through the air, and vegetable gardens were watered, and they frightened people a little, where without it.
The story is written lightly, with humor, somehow in a summer way. The illustrations depict village life artistically and lovingly.
Recommended age: from 6 years old.

Pierre Jammes School of Dinosaurs. Brontosaurus - new in class"

There are two therapeutic stories in the book, the heroes of which are dinosaurs. And they are worried about the same problems as human children: the fear of the dark, the excitement of spending the night away from home, the fear of being ridiculed or overthrown from an unspoken pedestal. “What if the newcomer will study better than me?”, “What if he will be stronger than me?” - schoolchildren were worried when they were told that a new student would come to the class.
The author of the book is a teacher with experience, a practitioner in resolving children's conflicts. - Wrote stories in a language that children can understand. In the problems described, you will most likely be able to find your own - what worries your child. And discuss with him ways to overcome fears.
In the School of Dinosaurs series, 4 books were published: Stegosaurus Celebrates its Birthday, Diplodocus Becomes a Hero, and others.
Recommended age: from 6 years old.

Mary Osborne Magic Tree House. Dinosaurs at dusk»

Jack is an eight-year-old boy assigned to look after his little sister. And although Annie is only a year younger, Jack seemed too childish and frivolous. But it was thanks to Annie that the guys found a magical tree house. There were many books inside. All of them had an amazing property to transfer readers to any place and dimension. But the guys did not know this and accidentally discovered themselves in the era of dinosaurs.
A dynamic plot, simple dialogues - fascinating reading is guaranteed for your child. The book received many awards, it was included in the top ten books about dinosaurs.
A total of 5 books have been published in the Magic Tree House series: Knight at Dawn, Pirates of the Afternoon, Mummies in the Morning and others.
Recommended age: from 6 years old.

Valentin Postnikov Pencil and Samodelkin on Dinosaur Island

Pencil and Samodelkin are little people, real wizards. Everything that the Pencil draws comes to life, becomes real. And Samodelkin knew how to make amazing machines. Once their friend, Professor Pykhtelkin, made a scientific discovery: dinosaurs are not extinct, but live on an island in the Indian Ocean. Of course, our heroes hurried to go there by airship.
The story is well written and easy to read. From it you can learn facts from the history of our planet and how dinosaurs lived.
Pencil and Samodelkin are the heroes of the Funny Pictures magazine. They were invented in the 60s of the last century by the writer Yuri Druzhkov. And his son, Valentin Postnikov, began to write fascinating stories about these characters. In total, many books have been published about Pencil and Samodelkin (including audio fairy tales): “Pencil and Samodelkin on the island of giant insects”, “Pencil and Samodelkin on the island of fantastic plants”, “Pencil and Samodelkin on Mars” and others.
Recommended age: from 6 years old.

Marie-Aude Muray, story "Sunday with Dinosaurs" from the collection "Dutch Without Problems"

One day, mom went to visit, and the children - Arthur and Kenten - stayed with dad for one day. Kenten, a big fan of the prehistoric world, was looking forward to this day to go to the dinosaur exhibition! But dad does his best to stay at home with coffee and a newspaper. The boy could burst into tears, hold a grudge against his father, but he knows how to forgive and is endowed with a rich imagination. We have a lot to learn from him.
This story is for parents. He teaches us unconditional love, to accept children as they are. But if you read it with a child, then you should focus on the fact that dad is wrong, that it’s not normal not to fulfill these promises, it shouldn’t be like that.
The design of the book is wonderful: a cardboard cover with a relief image of a dinosaur for tactile pleasure, and original illustrations not only blend perfectly with the text, but also unexpectedly complement it with tasks for the development of fantasy.
Recommended age: from 6 years old.

Arthur Conan Doyle The Lost World

The British scientific expedition went to South America. On a rocky inaccessible plateau in the Amazon region, researchers have discovered a "lost world" - a place where dinosaurs, apes and savages of the Stone Age still live. At the risk of their lives, the heroes of the book cross the log into an unknown world, but one of the team treacherously throws the log into the abyss, and four men find themselves cut off from the familiar world.
