Children's literature is a section of books intended for children up to about twelve or fourteen years of age. The characteristic features of this genre are small volume, simplicity of text and recognizable elements. Most often, stories, fairy tales and poems act as children's literature.
But in addition, there are full-fledged series of novels written for older children, for example in the genre of adventure or even fantasy.
Features of books in the genre Children's literature in 2020
The genre of children's literature is one of the oldest in literature. Numerous folklore tales, epics, stories originate from the depths of centuries, and this is an undoubted part of children's books. Many works were passed down from generation to generation orally, and only in the seventeenth century they began to be recorded and published in small collections. Books of children's literature are in demand not only among children (and their parents), but also among teenagers and even adults who have decided to escape from the gray everyday life. For many, good children's stories are an excellent opportunity to plunge into childhood and nostalgic about it. Here it is worth highlighting the section of works in which famous books written for adults are revised and adapted for children's perception.
Children, teenagers or fairy-tale creatures are the heroes of the works most often. They get into dangerous situations, from which their parents or friends help them get out, and at the end, morality and conclusions are fairly transparently summed up so that the children learn such a lesson. It is on the example of the heroes of children's books that children are given a simple explanation why you can’t poke your fingers into a socket, you need to study, or eat porridge in the morning. Children's books contain many bright pictures, the purpose of which is to attract and hold the attention of a restless child for as long as possible. Children's literature can be conditionally divided into several categories - educational books, such as the alphabet and primer, bedtime books, mostly fairy tales and fantasy books for older children, poems and poems - easy-to-learn texts designed for the comprehensive development of the child . Children's literature is characterized by simplicity and kindness of narration, and the characters are pure in heart.
