This article answers frequently asked questions about reconciliation in the Microsoft Commerce Incentive program.

What is the difference between Microsoft Commerce rewards programs and other rewards programs?
Traditionally, each time a new incentive offer comes up, it has been created as a separate program or as leverage in one of the existing programs. However, as of October 1, 2021, any Commerce Incentive Offers that are new or undergoing rule changes will launch as offers within the Microsoft Commerce Incentive Program or as new leverage within existing offers (think of engagements as containers).
Note
This does not yet apply to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) or device based incentive programs.
Any transactions in the new commerce model will only be incentivized through the Microsoft Commerce Incentive.

- Engagement names are unique and may change over time as they coincide with program update periods.
- Lever names can be the same across engagements and change.

Why does the Revenue Summary page show the same transaction marked as fatal? Why is the unavailability reason code for a single transaction displayed on the Revenue Summary page when the downloaded transaction log shows actual revenue?

A single usage or transaction record can be evaluated across multiple engagements, and it is possible for different outcomes for each engagement. At the engagement level, we provide you with reasons why you are not eligible to participate.

What is the fastest way to find out if I have the correct PAL role that would make me eligible to participate based on MCI consumption?
Visit the Download Reports page.
This report provides daily insights about Azure consumption for a week after the partner ID is associated in the PAL link. The Azure usage report is updated with daily Azure consumption over four days. Select to download only the following columns in the Azure usage report to control the size of the download.

For the subscription in question, if PartnerAttributionType reads "Partner Admin Link" and adminType reads "Owner" or "Member", then your role counts towards consumption-based participation in Microsoft Commerce Incentives.
To get the exact ACR value, set isACRDuplicateAtMPNLevel to 0. Set SubscriptionID, PartnerID, and PartnerAttributionType="Partner Admin Link" as filters, AdminType as columns, Month as rows, and ACR_USD as values.
If AdminType is Reader, you are not eligible to receive promotions. If you're providing managed services at the subscription or resource level, check with your tenant to make sure they've granted you the right level of resource permissions. If adminType is "Owner" or "Member" and you have >0 ACR_USD it means you are recognized and the role is eligible for promotions. Incentives are also subject to additional checks such as matching with partners, transactions, and customers, and if you have completed everything, you will eventually receive rewards.
I'm sure I'm associated with pal, but I can't find the subscription in the Azure usage report in the Analytics workspace?
If you followed the steps in the previous question and still didn't find the subscription ID, it's very likely that this subscription is not actively consuming Azure.

Download the Azure usage report based on the criteria in one of the above FAQs from the Analytics workspace.

To enable Azure growth, download the revenue, transaction, and payment (growth levers) details from the Payouts - Export page or from the Transaction History page.
totalTransactionAmountUSDis the actual Azure consumption revenue. Individual consumption records can be eligible to earn on multiple levers in different engagements by defining individual amounts as recommended in the figure below. The figure shows summaries of key attributes from reports on usage and earnings, transactions, and payment status (growth) using dummy data. -
For other Azure consumption-based engagements, download revenue, payment, and transaction details from the Payouts - Export page. Because the same ACR can reward multiple engagements, define unique values as shown in the figure below.

If the ACR value in the Transaction History report is still low, look for reasons for the unavailability on the Income Summary page of the Payouts workspace.

Involvement in Azure growth drives Azure consumption revenue growth. If the difference between the current quarter and the previous quarter of Azure consumption revenue is positive, it is considered growth.
Below are three scenarios related to enabling azure for growth. For more information related to these scenarios, see the corresponding interop summary.

Downloading income, transactions, payment status will have the following characteristics for growth engagements, and this is different from other programs and main engagement levers
a. One unique income per lever. This revenue is derived from multiple Azure consumption records for the current and previous quarter (also known as transactions).
b. Because earnings are derived from many transactions, this file will not contain customer, subscription, agreement number, etc. information. These can be obtained by combining this report with revenue, transaction, payment status ( levers of growth) with using an income identifier.
c. The following attributes can be used to get unique earnings, check how they were calculated, and track payment status.
d. Attribute definitions

Attribute transactionAmount / transactionAmountUSD provides the growth amount (current quarter total consumption - previous quarter total consumption).

earningAmount / earningAmountUSD is the incentive amount calculated by multiplying the growth amount by the earnings factor. earningRate is another column present in this report.

Baseline is the total Azure consumption for the previous quarter. This column was added to the bottom of the report in January 2023

Consumption for the current quarter can be calculated by adding the base amount and the growth amount.

Download Revenue, Transactions, Payment Status (Leverage of Growth) will have the following characteristics for growth engagements and this file is not required for other programs or basic leverage.
a. Each unique Azure consumption record that contributed to leverage is available with customer, subscription, agreement number. Earning details (EarningID, EarningAmount and earningAmountUSD, paymentID, paymentStatus) are duplicated in each associated Azure consumption record, as shown below.
b. This file can be used in the singular to reconcile totalTransactionAmountUSD at the subscription or customer level and the unique revenue created by rolling up the downloaded data, as shown in the image below.
