More From Sesame Street

history, characters, Russian version of the TV show

Today Sesame Street is not just a TV show, but a whole culture whose characters have raised more than one generation of children in all corners of the world. Everyone has heard of fluffy monsters. Let's talk in detail about the inhabitants of the famous street: who loves what and what they do on the screen. nine0003

  • Heroes of the famous street
    • Kermit
    • Korzhik
    • Bert and Ernie
    • 9000 Sesame began a few months before the onset of 1970. On cold November days, TV screens were lit up with funny faces of fictional creatures. Appearing on American channels, and then in other countries, funny monsters won the hearts of kids around the world. nine0003

A puppeteer from the USA came up with a creative idea for creating colored monsters. Jim Henson created the show, the first scripts for it, and even made some of the puppets. He later did voice acting for some of the characters.

During its existence, the show won not only the young audience, but also the hearts of adults: "Sesame Street" won the prestigious "Emmy" almost a hundred and fifty times. Famous American stars, TV presenters and even politicians visited the monsters.

The main task of the characters on the screen was and is the education of young viewers. Children are taught not only to count, read, but also to become worthy representatives of society. nine0003

Today "Sesame" has long gone beyond the borders of its native states and is broadcast in more than 150 countries around the world. The basic composition of heroes, as a rule, remains unchanged. New characters are added to familiar characters. It all depends on the preferences of TV people and the national flavor of each individual country. Psychologists, teachers and educators are working on the formation of "national" options.

      Heroes of the famous street

Whoever the creators put on Sesame Street, the first and most important characters of the show always remain in high esteem. nine0003

      Kermit

The most famous character in the TV show. The chatty frog is a key figure in the Sesame Street show, as well as the no less famous Muppet Show. The green animal was the first among plush colleagues to receive quite real recognition - a star was opened in his honor on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.

For the first time on TV screens Kermit appeared in the show "Sam and Friends". This five-minute role gave the green kid fame and the opportunity to be realized on television. nine0003

The first frog doll for "The Street" was created by Jim Henson himself. The material for her was her mother's old coat, and ordinary ping-pong balls became her eyes. The prototype of the now famous Kermit consisted of such simple improvised means that it looked more like an abstract lizard than a toad.

Kermit soon experienced a real character evolution, turning into a moving figure. Having landed a job as a Sesame Street reporter, the frog is still the most recognizable personality on the show to this day. nine0003

      Cookie

No less famous figure in the show. Cookie's full name is Biscuit Monster. Thick blue fur and a restless appetite are the most striking features of a small unknown creature. The doll, more like a blue hairy bag, has a huge mouth and glassy eyes.

Most of all Korzhik likes chatter with a full mouth . The monster eats cookies around the clock, and when the delicacy runs out (oh, woe!), it starts to crack everything that surrounds it, while not stopping for a minute. One of the most famous phrases to viewers is: “I want cookies!”. nine0003

The Biscuit Monster is one of the characters that almost never appears on screen in full size. The tall figure of Korzhik only once appeared in a parody of Mission Impossible. And the legs of the blue monster could only be seen in a few episodes.

Cookie has often become a minor character in other American shows. For example, in "Family Guy" it is mentioned that he created his own social network - "Cookie-beech". And one of the heroines of The Big Bang Theory got a tattoo in the form of a Biscuit Monster. nine0003

The best songs from "Sesame Street" - in this video.

      Bert and Ernie

Two humanoid Sesame Street characters. The heroes were created under the direction of Don Salin. The creator described her offspring as follows: a plump "orange" and a lanky thin "banana".

These are absolutely different characters, who, nevertheless, act as best friends. The whole story of their friendship consists of jokes about their dissimilarity. In the show, Bert plays the role of a typical phlegmatic - a calm and balanced hero. Ernie, on the contrary, does not stop for a second, scattering crazy ideas to the place and not to the place. nine0003

In the Russian version of the show, a couple of comrades are presented as characters Vlas and Yenik.

      Other characters

In addition to the main characters of the show, the audience is also entertained by other characters. Some of them migrated from the American version of the transmission to the Russian version, having received new names.
