There’s no time to waste. The traffic light is orange – step on the accelerator and go before it changes!
The colour orange seems to fit perfectly to how I imagine Jamaica – bright, vibrant and pulsing with energy. Prince Buster captures this feeling perfectly with Orange Street. Orange street was famous as a meeting place for musicians and so there should be no surprise if we run into The In-Crowd. Mango Walk has the type of reggae beat that makes me sway even in my chair. The darker orange of the mango seems to contrast with the brightness of the orange in Prince Buster track and I think we are off to a good start.
Earth Wind & Fire are a band I find heard to classify, and Orange Evolution is typically hard to define. Is it pop? Is it funk? Is it jazz? It does not matter - It is great! But is orange evolving into red or yellow? We will never know.
Eddie Henderson’s mum was a dancer at the original cotton club and as a child Eddie even had a trumpet lesson from Louis Armstrong, so there is no doubt we are in jazz territory now. The Kumquat Kids has a funky beat and definitely gets my foot tapping and puts a smile on my face.
Now from fruit to flowers. Genda Phool is an Indian marigold and Sujatha Majumdar evokes them beautifully in this track. I really felt that I could see them if I closed my eyes!
Reuben Wilson pays homage to the leftover part of the orange in Orange Peel but of course the peel also contains the zest of an orange, its most intense flavour, and this is an intense track.
We now take a short detour to my home – Japan. Orange is definitely associated with happiness in Japan and these two tracks convey this is different ways. Judy and Mary are one of those bands everyone knows, loves and has a favourite track. Hello! Orange Sunshine is such a great, feelgood example I can almost feel the orange sun on my face. Passepied are masters at making simple sounding pop songs and Orange is one of their best, capturing the joy of being single with a night out before you and full of possibilities.
Orange blossom
There were several versions of this classic nominated this week but I choose the Nat King Coe version of Orange Colored Sky. He has such an amazingly beautiful voice and with it he paints such exquisite pictures. I can really see him “humming a tune – drinking in sunshine”.
Next we have two tracks from Brazilian artists. Elis Regina-Menino has the perfect voice for Bossa Nova. Das Laranjas is a song about a boy selling oranges at a fair and the rythms and harmony really seem to evoke a sunny and carefree day, but apparently the lyrics are not so cheerful. The next Brazilian track is The Sabia. It is Brazil's national bird which like an thrush but with an orange chest. Clara Nunes sings this version of the song with a swing that just makes me want to dance!
When I first heard the final track, I was left speechless and that is not an easy thing to achieve! I had to listen a couple of times to decide if I liked it or not, but I fell in love with it. Gilbert Bécaud is known as Monsieur 100.000 volts and we can really see why when he and his fabulous group play L’orange, a song about the theft of that fruit.

Chaif - Orange mood - text, history, facts, clip
"Orange mood" - a song by Vladimir Shakhrin, which gave the name to the cycle of acoustic albums "Chayf". The composition was first published in 1994 in the first part of the "multi-volume" of the same name. After the publication of the work, orange became the official color of the team. The band's website is designed in these colors, and the band's fans at combined concerts and festivals can now be distinguished by the orange construction helmets they wear as a sign of support for their favorite musicians.
Orange mood - listen
The official music video "Chayf" for this song was not filmed. However, there are recordings of her live performance that can be listened to online. As a rule, the musicians perform the piece in question towards the end of the performance.
Over the years, during which the song "Orange Mood" is performed at concerts, a whole ritual has developed, in which both musicians and spectators in the hall participate. During one of the losses, Vladimir Shakhrin calls on people to simultaneously wave their hands in the order they have set in different directions. Musicians call this ritual "lanterns". The action looks very nice.
Interesting facts about the song
Apparently, the prototype of the song of the Chaif group "Orange mood" was the cheerful "Orange Song", the peak of popularity of which came at the end of the 60s of the twentieth century. The first performer of this work was the singer Irma Sokhadze. The song was written by Arkady Arkanov (poetry) and Vladimir Pevzner (music). The last verse of Vladimir Shakhrin's song is a quote from their work.
In the song "Orange Mood" "Chayf" you can find several symbols of the era. Let's try to define some of them.
Kefir bottle – in Soviet times kefir was sold in specially shaped glass bottles sealed with foil caps.
Half a loaf - refers to a regular loaf (loaf), cut in half. A bottle of kefir and half a loaf was a fairly common breakfast among the working class and students. In the same way, in many Soviet republics, punks and other informal youth had breakfast.
Ikarus is a brand of Hungarian buses. In Soviet times, they were the official city transport in all the republics of the Union. The standard color of regular city buses of this brand was orange, tourist and intercity buses - red and white. The front of the vehicle was designed in such a way that when looking at it, there was a feeling that the bus was smiling at the passenger.
Chaif - Orange mood - lyrics
A bottle of kefir, half a loaf,
A bottle of kefir, half a loaf
And I'm at home today
And I'm at home today
And I'm at home alone today.
In the morning I read the newspaper,
And maybe I go to the cinema.
And, in general, it doesn't matter,
And, in general, it doesn't matter,
And, in general, it doesn't matter what.
And then, standing on the balcony,
I will look at the passers-by.
For girls,
For spring girls,
For spring girls and a little for guys.
And then, passing by the mirror,
I'll say: "Well, I'm not so scary after all."
And I look like the new "Ikarus",
And I have the same smile,
And like him,
And like him,
Orange mood!
And I will finish my kefir exactly at 10,
And I will finish the loaf a little earlier.
And before going to bed,
And I'll say before going to bed,
And I'll say: "Ah, mom, how good it is!"
Bottle of yogurt, half a loaf.
Orange sky,
Orange sun,
Orange mother,
Orange camel

Dear readers of the magazine "Flowers"! In this article, I continue to answer a florist's question sent to the editors of the magazine: “Are there chrysanthemums with pure red flowers on the market today? For work, it is often not enough pure red tint; Pure orange, by the way, is also a bit. In the previous issue, we highlighted the palette of red chrysanthemums, but now we will try to consider chrysanthemums, the color of which is close to orange.
Let me briefly remind you that according to the type of production, chrysanthemums are divided into two groups: seasonal with a limited availability period and year-round cultivation.
In contrast to red, orange and its shades are widely represented among seasonal single-headed chrysanthemums. Let us make a reservation that many of these varieties are cultivated both in the form of a single-headed plant and in a bush form.
Let's start with the dainty arachnid ‘Cobra Bronze’ (“spider”). All others have a decorative flower shape ( Deco ). Let's list them. This is a finely shaped variety 'Bornholm Bronze' , pure orange 'Bagley Tang Bronze' as well as ‘Cassandra Bronze’ . Two close shades of orange are ‘Chevenior’ : lighter ‘Chevenior Apricot’ and more intense ‘Chevenior Orange’ . ‘Lameet Bronze’ has double-sided painted petals in orange and yellow. ‘Mayford Perfection Bronze’ has a very nice bright orange shade, although the shape of the flower is not very neat in my opinion. New ‘Pandion Bronze’ double-sided painted orange and yellow. And of course, one cannot fail to mention the ‘Pr. Armgard' . ‘Pr. Armgard Bronze’ has a great shape, and despite the double-sided color of the petals (dark yellow on one side and bright orange on the other), when viewed from afar, the “flower” seems to have a pure orange color. Spray seasonal orange chrysanthemums are also not uncommon, although they are used mainly by private producers. Some of them can be grown "on the street" in the garden, and some need shelter. Those who are interested in information about the cultivation and purchase of planting material can contact our company in the department of planting material and obtain the necessary data. ‘Minstreel Bronze’ has a beautiful pom-pom shape and is very brightly colored.
But the orange ones, so to speak, are ‘Pompon Orange’ and ‘Pennie Eagle Bronze’ . Perhaps we should also mention ‘Roodkapje Bronze’ and ‘Wendy Bronze’ , also possessing a bright orange color.
Now all season chrysanthemums. Single-headed: grades ‘Aral Bronze’ (“spider”, color leaves much to be desired), 'Boris Becker Orange' (pompom, not big but nice), very nice 'Cassandra Bronze' dark orange (shapes Deco ), 'Kiev Orange' (shapes Deco , removed from production, but can sometimes be found at auction), 'Saffina Bronze' (a good variety, probably the best of the orange "spiders").
Very good ‘Snooker Orange’ is perhaps the “most orange” of the list. And of course, grade ‘Spider Bronze’ , which everyone knows very well.
Branched all season chrysanthemums. Only in the spray group, or spray chrysanthemums, I counted more than 20 varieties accepted for production. And at the breeding stations I saw several very interesting varieties of orange.
So, let's start with non-terry. These are the well-known 'Reagan Orange' , 'Charlotte Orange' , 'Francofone' , 'Woodpecker' , 'Grand Orange' , 'Kuga Bright' , 'Marcato' , 'Magana Orange' , 'Managua Orange' , 'Viking Orange' . They have either a green or yellow core. And only in the variety ‘Mindanao’ at the stage of “full maturity”, the core acquires an orange hue.
Anemone dark orange ‘Papaya’ and light orange ‘Hawaya’ are very attractive.
Shades of orange are quite widely represented in spray chrysanthemums with a decorative flower shape ( Deco ): varieties ‘Mango Orange’ , ‘Safin Orange’ . New cultivar ‘Blaze’ has a brilliant clear orange color. It is necessary to recall the light orange variety ‘Aronsa’ . But grade ‘Durango’ , on the contrary, has a dark orange, closer to bronze, shade.
I think the reader has noticed that many varieties in their names contain a hint about shades of orange: Orange or Bronze . It may be objected to me that varieties marked Salmon and Apricot also have a light orange coloration, but in my opinion, the former has a lot of pink, and the latter goes into peach tones.
Apricot
Branched chrysanthemums of the santini and santini madiba groups. There is very little orange here.
Variety ‘Karibu’
I remembered only non-double varieties ‘Hilda’ , ‘Monique’ , ‘Karibu’ and ‘Cortese’ and pom pom ‘Edvaldo’ .
Variety ‘Edvaldo’
In the last article I wrote about the use of potted chrysanthemums of the group Multiflora by florists. We will mention them here as well. The most striking, in my opinion, is ‘Bransea Orange Empire’ . Slightly darker - 'Branfortune' and 'Brancloud Bronze' . Very effective fiery orange 'Branopal Orange' , orange-red 'Branspice' and 'Brantopas Cooper' .
‘Branbeach Orange’ stands out with larger dark orange flowers.
New cultivar ‘Blaze’ has a pure orange color
That's about it. As you can see, with shades of orange, things are still better than with reds. I wish you all success in your work!
Unfortunately, the format of the article did not allow me to publish an interview with one of our partner clients in this issue. This is a very famous flower shop in Penza. Buyers always note, on the one hand, the quality of flowers, on the other hand, reasonable prices, as well as high professionalism in the execution of compositions. I am glad that our mite is also in the success of this salon. We will post an interview with a partner from Penza in one of the next issues.
