The three little pigs classic fairy tales
25+ Favorite Three Little Pigs Books for Kids- Fantastic Fun & Learning
“I’ll huff and puff and blow your house down!” This is a classic line from a classic tale that we have probably all heard. How would that line change if the wolf was a space robot, he used simple machines to catch the pigs or he was simply misunderstood? The story of the Three Little Pigs has been told in many different ways. Below is a list of Three Little Pigs books and fractured fairy tales that tell this popular story in their own special way.

Original StoryHuff & Puff by Claudia Rueda
Huff and Puff tells the original tale with simple sentences and illustrations. For little ones who have not heard the story before this is a great book to use to introduce it.
The Three Little Pigs by Emily Bolam
This version of The Three Little Pigs is a perfect version for little readers. The pigs are not eaten by the wolf and the wolf burns his bottom before running away. The illustrations are sweet and age appropriate.
The Three Little Pigs by Bernadette Watts
Young children will enjoy the whimsical illustrations full of details of the Three Little Pigs. The story is the traditional story, the pigs are not eaten in this version and the wolf runs away when he gets smoke in his eyes from the chimney.
The Three Little Pigs by Barry Moser
For older readers this book would be a great choice. The story is the classical story with a slight difference as the third little pig tricks the wolf but the ending is the same.
Alternate Versions of the Original StoryThe Three Little Gators by Helen Ketteman
Three Little Gators set out into the world but they must watch out for Big-bottom Boar who likes to bump thing with his rump. This story of the Three Little Pigs takes a swampy turn with three gators.
Three Little Cajun Pigs by Mike Artell
Three Little Cajun Pigs tells the traditional story of the pigs but with a Cajun twist. The book is written in Cajun dialect and features a tail swinging gator.
The 3 Little Dassies by Jan Brett
3 Little Dassies by Jan Brett is a colorful book that has beautiful illustrations on every page, just like all her books. This version of the three little pigs is set in Africa and is the story of three dassies trying to escape a hawk. This is one of my personal favorites for alternate versions of the three little pigs.
The Three Little Aliens and the Big Bad Robot by Margaret McNamara
In outer space we find the story of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Robot. The aliens set off to different planets and build homes, when the Big Bad Robot comes along and smashes and bashes their homes. This is a fun story for kids who like space, robots and/or aliens.
The Three Ninja Pigs by Corey Rosen Schwartz
The Three Ninja Pigs is an action packed book with karate fighting pigs and fun comic style illustrations and layout. This is a fun story for older and younger kids that enjoy karate and action.
The Three Little Javelinas by Susan Lowell
The Three Little Javelinas is about three cowboy pigs that live in the Southwest and try to get away from bad coyote. The story follows the original story with a different setting and characters. I like how a story that everyone knows can look so different with cowboy boots and cactus.
The Three Little Pigs by Steven Kellogg
This version of the three little pigs is the original tale but the pigs are waffle makers. When the wolf comes sliding down the chimney he becomes a wolffle. The story has a modern feel with extra details like waffle makers, retirement and leather jackets.
The Three Little Dinosaurs by Jim Harris
The Three Little Dinosaurs tell the tale of three Brachiosaurs and a big bad T-Rex. The ending for this story has a twist that little ones will enjoy. This is a good one to use for comparing different Three Little Pig stories.
The Three Little Karnoogs: The Armenian Version of The Three Little Pigs by Talene Dadian White
The Three Little Karnoogs is the traditional story of the three little pigs told with Armenian words and customs. The Karnoogs are lambs that have trouble with the kayl, wolf. There is a glossary at the end of the book that defines the words used in the book.
The Three Little Bass and the Big Bad Gar by James R. Miller
This adapted version of The Three Little Pigs, The Three Little Bass and the Big Bad Gar, is a fun fishy theme on the classic Three Little Pigs story.
Three Little Pigs with a TwistWait! No Paint! by Bruce Whatley
Wait! No Paint! is a hilarious retelling of the classic story. The three little pigs are running from the wolf but have bigger problems when the illustrator runs out of red paint. Little Bit loved this story, we read the story twice the first time we had the book and she laughed at the ending every time. This book is a great way to help your child understand how important an illustrator is to a story.
Simple Story of the 3 Pigs and the Scientific Wolf by Mary Fetzner
This story is about the big bad wolf’s son and the three little pigs’ daughters. This wolf thinks he can outsmart the pigs because he knows about science and simple machines. This is a great resource for teaching simple machines, and the book includes a science attitude survey, 8 simple machine lesson plans for hands-on learning, 8 extended challenge activities, 8 critical/creative thinking questions, and an end-of-unit assessment.
The Three Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad Wolf by Mark Teague
This is a traditional story of the three little pigs but with a different ending. The illustrations are funny and the ending is a great way to end the story.
The Three Little Pigs by David Wiesner
The Three Little Pigs begins like the original story but the pigs quickly find a way out of their story and into other stories. I love the illustrations and how the pigs walk around in the book outside of and on top of the pictures.
Wolf Won’t Bite by Emily Gravett
Wolf Won’t Bite is a circus themed story of three pigs that use the wolf to do different tricks with the wolf. The pigs brag that no matter what they have him do; dance a jig, blast from a cannon, or throw knives at him, the wolf won’t bite. Poor wolf, I like this very different story of the wolf and pigs.
Trap 3 Little Pigs by Kyle Exum
Trap 3 Little Pigs provides a modern twist on everyone’s favorite story of The Three Little Pigs.
The Great Gran Plan by Elli Woollard
If you are looking for a fun book that combines Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs, you will love The Great Gran Plan.
The Three Little Pigs: An Architectural Tale by Steven Guarnaccia
The Three Little Pigs: An Architectural Tale gives a modern take on three different house designs by famous architects!
The Three Little Superpigs by Claire Evans
Have you ever wondered what happened after The Big Bad Wolf appears? The Three Little Superpigs tells the story of what happened after they defeated The Big Bad Wolf.
Wolf’s Side of the StoryThe True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka
What if the wolf was not trying to eat the pigs? What if he was trying to do something nice and the pigs misunderstood him? The True Story of the Three Little Pigs will make you rethink the story.
The Three Horrid Little Pigs by Liz Pichon
The Three Horrid Little Pigs is not your traditional story. The pigs steal from others to create their homes. When the pigs have no home left, the friendly wolf (who is a builder) will show them how to build a home and not be horrid.
Tell the Truth B.B. Wolf by Judy Sierra
B.B. Wolf is setting the record straight and telling his story of the three little pigs. The only problem is that Wolf’s version is not completely accurate. I loved the ending of this story and all the storybook characters that are featured.

Annotation
Courage, diligence and wisdom are the most important qualities for piglets. This is exactly what the piglet Naf-Naf is, who saved his brothers from the evil wolf. Are you the same as Naf-Naf? Or carefree and cheerful, like Nuf-Nuf or Nif-Nif? Or stubborn like the Frog? This book contains many, many fairy tales by S. Mikhalkov, whose heroes will become an example for boys and girls - how to behave well, and how to behave badly.
