Biography
As a resident of Geotopia, Brooke stayed young and beautiful with the crystals, living with the other Geotopians. While they were searching for the asteroid landing site, Brooke noticed the Herd's arrival on her crystal hoverboard, to which she giddily exclaimed how they almost never have visitors, asking them if she's dreaming and pinching herself and Julian at the same time before falling off her crystal hoverboard as she noticed Sid, instantly falling in love with him. She called her minicorn sqaud of two, Bubbles and Misty, and has them bring Sid toward her. She happily took them to the Shangri Llama. Later she is seen playing an instrument while Sid rests his head on her lap, enjoying his attempts to flirt with her before she excitedly proposed to him. Sid accepted. She is thrilled as Sid accepts, but calmly advises Sid against pulling a diamond looking crystal from the wall when he tells her he needs to get her a ring. Unlike the other residents, she acts calmly and rationally when Sid ends up breaking the wall, even when she turns to her actual age and becoming old and grey.
When the mammals learn they need to throw the crystals in the volcano and Shangri Llama refuses, she uses a motivational speech to change their minds, getting them to start gathering. After saving the world, Brooke kisses Sid on the lips in celebration. Afterwards, she tells Sid that she's going to stay in the remains of Geotopia, thinking it better to let him go because of her old age. Before he leaves, she gives him a rock slab with her picture that she drew, laughing when he gives her a rock slab with a sloppy drawing of himself to remember each other if they never see each other again.
While in the hot spring with Shangri Llama, Granny, Teddy, and some other residents, a stray crystal flies out of the volcano and into the spring, creating the Fountain of Youth and restoring her to her young and beautiful self. She shows up right after Peaches and Julian's wedding, looking for Sid. When she sees him, they run to each other. She picks him up, only to fall from the weight. They then profess their love. She is seen at the after wedding party, singing "My Superstar" to Sid as the mammals dance, officially part of the Herd.
Personality & Traits
As a ground sloth, Brooke sported an exceptionally long reddish-tan pelt and long tan scalp hair, which she had decorated with violet flowers. She has a slim build with slightly wide hips, where her fur is designed to look like a flowing dress skirt. On her neck, Brooke wore an amethyst necklace, tied with a tan cord. She may also have yellow butterflies in her hair and fly away when Brooke moves her hair with force. As she was from another part of the world, Brooke spoke with a British accent.
Brooke seems to be very fond of visitors and gladly helped the herd in any way she could. Brooke also disapproves of greed and selfishness as she threatened Shangri Llama into giving up the crystals so the herd could use them to stop the asteroid.

What Animal is Sid from Ice Age?
Ice Age is an American media franchise focused on a group of animals surviving the Paleolithic ice age. It includes multiple computer-animated movies, short films, and television specials. The first installment in the series, titled “Ice Age”, was released in 2002, and the latest film, called “Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild” is underway and planned to be released in 2022.
Ice Age is a classic and with so many installments out there, it is a huge part of childhood for many of us. It makes you laugh over its outright hilarious and sometimes subtle jokes but it also has its emotional, suspenseful, and dramatic moments. And with such an interesting array of prehistoric characters, it is no surprise that Ice Age is a favorite for many.
Among all the crazy characters, there is one none of us can deny adoring and that’s Sid. Short for Sidney, Sid is the deuteragonist of the films. With Sid being such a popular and prominent character, it is no wonder that many of us want to know exactly what animal is Sid in Ice Age. So, dig in and learn a little bit more about Sid and about these interesting creatures that used to roam the Earth!
So what kind of animal is Sid from Ice Age?
Sid is a prehistoric ground sloth (Megalonyx) voiced by John Leguizamo.
Many people might be confused about this and have a hard time figuring out what animal Sid is because ground sloths do not even exist anymore! They are extinct. This is why it’s difficult for many of us to recognize an animal that is no longer around us. However, the filmmakers and descriptions accompanying various Ice Age movies have clearly mentioned that Sid is a ground sloth.
There are still a few living species of tree sloths, but the animal Sid is closely based on have long disappeared off the face of the planet.
Sid’s Character in Ice AgeSid belonged to a family of sloths that abandoned him when he was an adult. Sid then meets Manny, a mammoth, and Diego, a saber-tooth tiger, and the three of them form their “herd” after a series of adventures where they return a human baby named ‘Roshan’ to his tribe.
Shortly after this, Sid and his friends make their own home in a valley that is soon to be flooded due to the melting ice which prompts Sid and his best friends to trek and reach a safe place. Along this journey, they meet other animals – a few even from prehistoric times that are no longer found on Earth today – and Sid assumes responsibility for helping them all reach safety. But Sid being Sid, makes mistake upon mistake all the while giving the audience something to laugh or roll their eyes at.
At first glance, Sid is lazy, unmotivated, way too talkative, and often proves to be a nuisance. He lacks self-control and common sense, and often makes others uncomfortable unknowingly with his words or actions. But what makes Sid so lovable despite all his shortcomings and flaws is that he is loyal to his core and fiercely cares about his friends. He might not be very perceptive at times – or, let’s be honest, most of the times – but his enthusiasm for life and goofy demeanor are bound to win you over sooner or later.
About Ground Sloths (Megalonyx)Megalonyx were a diverse group of now extinct sloths. They belonged to the class of mammals. Even though Sid wasn’t shown to be a very large or heavy character in Ice Age, an actual ground sloth weighed between 250 to 1000 kg. With such high weight, it comes as no surprise that these creatures had a strong and tall build. Ground sloths had a body length of roughly 10 feet (3 meters)! Some of their regular features included long hair, especially on their rear limbs and flanks. Some popular families of ground sloths were the Mylodontidae and the Nothrotheriidae.
An extinct Megalonyx eats from a treeGround sloths were found in abundance in what is today the U. S. and were widely distributed in the western states. Florida, Texas, and Alaska were known to be home to a large number of ground sloths. These animals preferred open areas with grass and where they could find plenty of water. This is why ground sloths weren’t found in dry areas because they required a high amount of water. Forests and lands with trees were also preferred by these animals, provided there was a source of water for them.
According to studies, extinct ground sloths engaged in a range of locomotive activities. They could climb trees, swim, and burrow. These species of ground sloths also had large, powerful claws that could possibly be used for digging the ground and defending themselves against predators. These ground sloths, as per research, shared habitats with many herbivores. Some ground sloths even inhabited caves. Among the extinct species of ground sloths, some were strictly herbivores while others feasted on meat as well. It is believed that sloths required external parental care for growth, like many mammals.
Note that ground sloths are extinct now, for reasons which aren’t completely confirmed. Some believe that the growth of human civilization drove them to extinction but there’s no confident, unanimous answer among researchers.
Extinct Ground Sloths vs Modern Tree SlothsEven though both the extinct ground sloths and living tree sloths are related, they are separated by a large amount of time. Time in which species evolve and adapt to their environment, leaving previous features which are no longer useful and gaining new features which are fit for the current times.
Modern sloths live in trees and rarely come down to the ground as their slow movement and smaller size makes them vulnerable to predators. While prehistoric ground sloths would climb trees for food, it likely spent most of its time on the ground due to its large size and weight.
ConclusionHopefully, now you know the amusing character Sid from Ice Age better and have gained some interesting new information about the animal it represents – the ground sloth.

Manny the mammoth
Manny is a woolly mammoth ( Mammuthus primigenius ), a species that lived about 200,000 years ago in the steppes of North America and Eurasia.
The woolly mammoth was about the same size as an African elephant, but had several distinctive features, including very thick fur all over the body, consisting of long guard hairs and a shorter, dense undercoat. Manny was reddish-brown in color, but the color of other mammoths ranged from black to light.
The mammoth's ears were smaller than those of the African elephant, which helped it retain body heat and minimize the risk of frostbite. Another difference between mammoths and elephants is a pair of extremely long tusks that curve in an arc around the muzzle. Like modern elephants, mammoths used tusks along with their trunks to lift food, fight predators and other mammoths, and move objects around as needed. The woolly mammoth fed on grass, including sedge, as there were few trees in the grassy steppe landscape.

Sid is a giant ground sloth
Sid is a ground sloth from the extinct family Megatheriidae , which was related to modern three-toed sloths, but they differed significantly in appearance. Giant ground sloths lived on Earth, not in trees, and were enormous in size (close to the size of mammoths).
They had large claws (about 65 cm long) but did not use them to catch other animals. Like those sloths that live today, giant ground sloths were not predators. Recent studies of fossilized sloth feces suggest that these giant creatures ate tree leaves, grass, bushes, and yucca. They appeared in South America, but gradually migrated north and reached the southern regions of North America.
Diego - Smilodon
Diego's long fangs characterize his personality: he is a saber-toothed tiger, more accurately known as Smilodon (an extinct subfamily of cats - Machairodontinae ). Smilodon were the largest feline that ever roamed our planet, lived in North and South America during the Pleistocene era. They look more like bears than cats, with heavy, stocky bodies built to hunt bison, tapir, deer, American camels, horses, and ground sloths like Sid. “They were able to attack quickly and deliver powerful, deep bites to the throat or upper neck of their prey,” explains Per Christiansen of Aalborg University in Denmark.

Scrat, the saber-toothed squirrel
. It was a funny image from the imagination of the creators of the cartoon.
However, in 2011, a strange mammalian fossil was discovered in South America that closely resembles the Scrat squirrel. "The primitive mouse-sized creature lived among the dinosaurs about 100 million years ago, had a snout, very long teeth and large eyes - just like the popular animated character Scrat," according to the Daily Mail.

Animals of the ice age - surely each of us remembers the time when children and adults had a great interest in them. The main objects that embodied these ancient animals were cartoons, toys, films and various documentaries from the Air Force.
First of all, I would like to start with a scientific definition. What is an ice age. Surely, the name speaks for itself - these are several cyclical stages of severe cooling that the planet Earth experienced, lasting several million years.
The fauna of that harsh period adapted to the environment and for this reason had an appropriate appearance. Initially, there was a temperate climate (before the arrival of the ice age). There were both predators and herbivores.
Animals of the Ice Age: the most popular
Of course, there are the most recognizable animals of the Ice Age, such as the mammoth. The average dimensions are 3-4 meters, i.e. little more than elephants. According to the remains of a mammoth, which was found in an ice floe, scientists found out that they ate grass and larch, pine branches. The length of wool in the most severe cold reached one meter. It is the ancestor of the modern elephant. It was mammoths, and not any of the predators, that lasted the longest. It is believed that this is the largest animal from the ice age. In the cartoon of the same name, the mammoth is also presented as the largest character.
Saber-toothed cat. Lived primarily in North and South America. The name was given due to the elongated front fangs, about 15-20 cm long. Such teeth were used to kill prey. Lateral incisors were used for chewing. Divided into three subspecies, the size did not exceed modern cheetahs. They had great competition in Eurasia and Africa with cheetahs and some panthers.
Probably, it is necessary to indicate which animals were less known to the general public during the Ice Age. The bighorn deer is the ancestor of the modern European fallow deer. In most cases, bighorn deer are found in Ireland and Germany. This suggests that his habitat was not only a steppe, but also a wooded area. The main distinguishing feature is the huge horns, much larger than those of modern deer and fallow deer. They ate mainly herbs and lived in groups.
Animals of the Ice Age: dire wolf
It is hardly possible to list all the animals of the Ice Age at once. However, one of the interesting extinct mammals is the dire wolf. Lived in North America. It got its nickname because of the size, which is much larger than the size of modern canids. Extinct, like many others, due to severe cooling. Feeds on large herbivores. The structure of the skeleton is very similar to the usual modern wolf. The weight of the dire wolf reached 70 kilograms. They hunted mammoths, camels, bison, mastodons.
Another extinct animal of the Ice Age is a huge short-faced bear. In a straightened position, it could reach up to 4.5 meters. The average weight was about 600 kg. It is this bear that has the most developed jaws necessary for a carnivorous lifestyle. A distinctive feature is longer limbs than the bears living now. In rare cases, it could eat carrion. According to some researchers, the cause of extinction was the disappearance of large mammals, which form the basis of its diet. Due to extinction, the number of the brown bear, which competed, increased.
Some Icelandic scientists claim that there are animals that survived the Ice Age. They found several species of heteropod crustaceans that live in underground waters.
The final glacial maximum is the most thoroughly studied part of the history of the Earth. Many studies have been carried out in northern Eurasia, the Himalayas, and North America. The last ice age covered the Scandinavian Peninsula, a significant part of North America, the East European Plains and northern Europe. It is worth noting that the Ice Age manifested itself least of all in the Southern Hemisphere. The reason for this is the smaller width and vastness of the continents. Antarctica was completely glaciated.
Cooling time in modern culture
Young researchers will surely be interested to get acquainted with this period in a purely entertaining format. Especially for such fans of the cartoon, a list of the main characters of the Ice Age has been prepared.
- Sid is the most fun, it may even seem like a stupid animal, neglecting personal hygiene. Full name Sidney, which means - talkative. Despite all that, ideas come to Sid's head on a regular basis. But an easy attitude to life constantly leads Sid to numerous problems. His friends (also the main characters of the cartoon) constantly come to the rescue. The attitude of friends towards Sid is very good-natured, despite the fact that he constantly annoys them. Sid's main dream is to have a family, and he does not neglect trying to achieve this dream. For example, despite the expected reaction of the mother, she takes three very small dinosaurs under her care. Many people ask a question like: “Sid from the ice age, what kind of animal is this?”. Sidney is a giant (in comparison with modern) sloth whose height could reach 6 meters. The main difference from modern ones is life on the ground, and not on trees.
- Manny is a woolly mammoth and the largest animal from the Ice Age cartoon. A kind character who constantly saves Sid and takes care of a human baby. One of the basic components of the storyline is the search for the parents of this baby. Also, Manny, probably due to his size, takes responsibility for Diego. He thought that he was alone and that the other mammoths were no longer alive, but it doesn’t take so long for Manny to meet Ellie.
- Diego is a predatory, independent and vain saber-toothed tiger. Gloomy, embittered (especially at the beginning), in the first minutes of the film he wants to steal a baby to give to the leader of his pack. After some time, he abandons this idea and joins the company. After Sid is kidnapped by a dinosaur, he blatantly rushes to the rescue. In the fourth part of the cartoon, he falls in love with Shira, they soon become a couple.
- Ellie is a mammoth. With Manny, she is united not only by sympathy, but by the fact that she, like her companion, was left without parents early. Her behavior is identical to that of the opossums who adopted her as a child. He is afraid of birds of prey, likes to hang upside down on trees.
- Scrat is the same squirrel that attracted the attention of the audience no less than the main characters of the cartoon. Scrat is probably the only "saber-toothed squirrel" of its kind. He is obsessed with chasing an acorn. Without realizing it, in pursuit of an acorn, it provokes either the descent of the glacier, or some other serious problems.
- Luis is Persik's closest friend who secretly has a crush on her. Ready to stand up for Peach at any moment.
- Crash is one of the bully possums. Very annoying and rude. He respects Baku and all dinosaurs. For those who don't know what kind of animal Buck is from the Ice Age - if it's a dinosaur.
- Peach, the daughter of Ellie and Manny, was born in the world of ancient dinosaurs, at the time when the characters were saving Sid. The name "Peach" came up with Ellie.
- Shira is an elderly saber-toothed tigress. The reason why she left the pack remains unknown. She was engaged in piracy, but when she fell in love with Diego, she quit this business.
- Granny is Sid's own grandmother. Differs in good spirits, harmfulness. Her family thinks she's a little crazy.
As we see in the cartoon Ice Age, the names of animals are not too different from ordinary human ones. The stories of each character themselves are in many ways quite mature, but presented in a light, fun format. Thus, the picture is suitable for viewing by both children and adults.
Ice Age 2, why did the animals move? The main characters learn that warming is coming and melting glaciers can flood them. It is for this reason that the animals went to find a more favorable territory for life. Scrat is completely closed off from the outside world and in pursuit of an acorn is not even aware of a moving environmental disaster.
All animals from the Ice Age cartoon are unique in their own way, which makes the plot much more interesting and valuable. It is not surprising that at the moment there are several cartoon series. The versatility of the characters' characters is remembered from the first time and leaves a huge place for fantasy about subsequent events. This creates intrigue and, as a result, it is impossible to tear yourself away from the screen. To find out which animals are in the Ice Age cartoon, you can use video games and all kinds of magazines on this topic. The idea of the developers played out in earnest and went beyond the movie screens. Today there are
Ice Age animal games, 2006 and 2009. Here comes the narration of what was not revealed in the film. You can only play Scrat. The second game repeats the plot, all the dynamics are accompanied by nineteen thematic episodes. You can play as Sid, Manny, Buck and Diego.
