When we developed the first intensives, this format seemed like the perfect solution. At the lesson, students receive maximum useful information within an hour or two. As planned, intensives save time and help determine the direction. But this format has its own difficulties.

One-day intensives are not the alphabet, but reading right away

If we draw an analogy with the first class, we don’t teach A today and B tomorrow. We immediately teach how to write “Mom washed the frame”. In the intensive, several related topics are selected, which we describe briefly. We give students the essence. In normal courses, these topics would take 4-5 lessons, here they take one intensive in the form of a squeeze of the main one. nine0005

A lot of new information is harder to learn. When the topic is completely unfamiliar, it is very easy to get lost in the flow of unfamiliar material and get confused in unfamiliar terms. Knowledge is not assimilated quickly, for those who first encounter programming, it is difficult to understand and remember so many new things at once.

Students' difficulties

Beginners write reviews for each intensive and sometimes say that they do not have time to fully understand. We analyzed all the reviews and came to the conclusion that some listeners lack just a little bit. They do not add up the whole picture, it turns out with white spots. Students write that they got the first impression, but do not know how to apply knowledge in practice, and they need additional information to decide on further training. Most often this happens for two reasons. nine0005

Students do not have programming skills, so they do everything slower than the teacher. Some are not ready to start classes: they did not install the necessary programs or did not start the working environment. It turns out that at the intensive the teacher made the site, but the students did not. The lesson was listened to, but nothing happened. These students need more time.

Another common problem with online classes is that the student missed a minute and lost the thread. When you read the information, you can be distracted and return to the place where you left off. When listening to a teacher in class, you can ask a neighbor. With online learning, maximum concentration is important. I talked on the phone, got distracted by sms, checked the notification in social networks and no longer understand what is at stake. There is no one to ask, there is nowhere to read, and you can’t rewind, because this is a live broadcast. Sooner or later, a person will figure it out, but again, it takes time to join again. nine0005

Two-day format

We now offer free two-day intensives. The entire volume of information is divided into two days. On the first day we tell the theory, on the second we do practice. For example, on an intensive course on the basics of web development, on the first day we create a site in HTML & CSS, on the second day we add a gallery and host it. On the first day of the "C# for Beginners" intensive, we study the possibilities of the language, constructions and arrays. On the second day, we create a Telegram bot. Classes are divided into two parts: first - an introduction to the theory, then - reinforcement with practice. The program is built more measuredly. Each topic takes twice as long. nine0005

Work has become easier, and the listeners appreciated it. Many people say that it has become easier to perceive information during the two-day intensives. Duplicate a few recent student reviews.

When the intensive takes two days, the approach to learning changes. The listeners work through the information on the first day, on the second they ask what they did not understand. On the evening of the first day, you can watch the lesson again in the recording: pause and analyze incomprehensible moments. You can chat with other listeners of the intensive and tell each other how best to do it. Those who did not have time to do it together with the teacher finish it on their own and come prepared for the next part. nine0005

Who can benefit from two-day intensives

Such intensives are useful for complete beginners who want to decide on the course, and for those who need basic knowledge in a new direction. Programmers and developers with great experience are unlikely to be able to find something new for themselves. The teacher will not cover complex narrow topics, because this will be incomprehensible to most students. Basically, we give the basics, share well-known life hacks, analyze moments that traditionally raise questions. Beginners will find a lot of useful information for themselves. Self-taught people will be able to ask questions, the answers to which are almost impossible to find on the endless Internet. nine0005

Five two-day intensives are already available, you can sign up using the links below. They run on schedule, so it's best to sign up early so you don't miss out. The most popular intensive is web development. The first intensive was attended by 700 listeners, in just a month 5.5 thousand people have already passed it.

  • Fundamentals of web development;
  • Fundamentals of Java;
  • Fundamentals of Python;
  • Basics of programming;
  • C# for beginners. nine0014

Two-day intensives - testing format. So far, we see that classes are in demand and students are satisfied with the format: on average, they rate intensives at 4.8-4.9. We will be monitoring the feedback and progress of the listeners. If interest does not decrease, we will leave two-day intensives as a permanent training format. We constantly evaluate the quality of teaching and make changes to the programs so that the level of education is always high.
