All Children's Literature - The Adventures of an Old Kangaroo

The kangaroo didn't always look like it does now. It was a completely different animal, with four legs, gray, fluffy and very arrogant. Having danced on a hillock in the very middle of Australia, he went to the little god Nka.

He came to Nka at about six o'clock in the morning and said:

    — Make me different from other animals, so that I will change today by five o'clock in the afternoon.

Nka jumped up from the sandbar on which he was sitting and shouted:

    - Get out!

The kangaroo was grey, fluffy and very arrogant. Having danced on a stone cliff in the very middle of Australia, he went to the more powerful god Nking.

He came to Nking at eight o'clock in the morning and said:

    — Make me different from other animals and arrange for me to become famous by five o'clock this afternoon.

Nking jumped out of his lair under the thorn bush and shouted:

    — Get out!

The kangaroo was grey, fluffy and very arrogant. Having danced across the sandy plain in the very middle of Australia, he went to the most powerful god Nkong.

He came to Nkong at ten o'clock and said:

    — Make me different from other animals so that I become famous and the whole world talks about me by five o'clock in the afternoon.

Nkong jumped out of the small salt lake he was swimming in and shouted:

    — All right!

Nkong called Dingo, the yellow dog Dingo, always hungry and dirty, and pointing to the kangaroo, said:

    — Dingo! Wake up Dingo! Do you see this dancer? He wants to become famous so that the whole world can talk about him. If he is chasing glory like that, then chase him!

Dingo, the yellow dog Dingo, jumped up and asked:

    — Whom? This rabbit?

Dingo, yellow dog Dingo, always hungry, gritting his teeth, ran after the kangaroo, which fled from him at full speed.

Here, my dears, ends the first part of the tale!

Kangaroo ran through the desert, ran over mountains and dales, over fields and forests, over thorns and tussocks, ran until his front legs ached.

    What to do!

Dingo ran after him, the yellow dog Dingo, always hungry, gnashing his teeth. He did not catch up with the kangaroo and did not lag behind him, but kept running and running.

    What to do!

Kangaroo, old kangaroo, kept running and running. He ran under the trees, he ran among the bushes, he ran in high grass and low grass, he ran through the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn until his hind legs ached.

    What to do!

Dingo, the yellow dog Dingo, was still chasing him, and gnashed his teeth even more from growing hunger. He did not catch up with the kangaroo, but he did not lag behind him until they both ran to the Wolgong River.

There was no bridge or ferry on the river, and the kangaroo did not know how to cross to the other side. He sat down on his hind legs and began to jump.

    What to do!

He jumped over stones, he jumped over sand, he jumped over all the deserts of Central Australia, he jumped like kangaroos jump.

First he jumped one arshin*, then three arshins, then five arshins. His legs were strengthened and lengthened. He had no time to rest or eat, although he really needed it.

Dingo, the yellow dog Dingo, furious with hunger, chased him like crazy and could not be surprised why the old kangaroo suddenly jumped.

And he jumped like a grasshopper, like a pea in a saucepan, like a rubber ball in a nursery.

    What to do!

He tucked up his front paws and jumped on his hind legs. In order not to lose his balance, he stretched out his tail and kept jumping and jumping across the plain.

    What to do!

Dingo, tired dog Dingo, more and more hungry and furious, ran, wondering when the kangaroo would stop.

At this time, Nkong came out of his salt lake and said:

    * Arshin is a little more than 71 cm. This means that the kangaroo jumped 71 cm the first time, 2 m 13 cm the second time, and 3 and a half meters the third time.

    - It's already five o'clock.

Dingo, poor dog Dingo, always hungry and dirty, sat up, stuck out his tongue and howled.

The kangaroo also sat down, the old kangaroo, spread its tail and exclaimed:

    — Thank God it's over!

Then Nkong, always extraordinarily polite, said to him:

    — Why don't you thank the yellow dog Dingo? Why don't you still express your gratitude to him for everything he has done for you?

Kangaroo, a tired old kangaroo, replied:

    — I don't understand why. He drove me out of the places where I spent my childhood, he did not give me food, and finally, he disfigured my legs.

    Nkong said:

    — If I'm not mistaken, you asked me to make you different from other animals so that everyone would talk about you. It's done, and it's exactly five o'clock.

“Yes,” said the kangaroo, “I wish I hadn’t asked you. I thought you'd cast some kind of charm, and you just laughed at me.

    - Laughed! Nkong called from the water, where he climbed again. - Well, repeat again! I will call Dingo and make him chase you until you are completely without hind legs.

    - No, no! said the kangaroo. - I apologize. Legs are still legs, and you can’t do without them. I only wanted to explain that I had not eaten anything since morning and my stomach was completely empty.

"Me too," put in Dingo, the yellow Dingo dog. “I have made him different from other animals, and for that I would like to get something for a tip.

Nkong answered them from his salt bath:

    — State your requests tomorrow, and now I will bathe.

The old kangaroo and the yellow dog Dingo were left facing each other in the very middle of Australia, and each of them kept repeating:

    - It's all your fault!

how actor Igor Dmitriev saved the dog

    03/29/2021

Today there will be a story about a dog.

In fact, this is a story about my friend, a wonderful Soviet actor, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Dmitriev. We were very friendly with him. Igor Dmitriev was famous thanks to the cinema, he starred in both serious films and comedies, for comedy roles he was especially loved by the audience. He became famous at the age of 1958 thanks to the film "Quiet Flows the Don", where he played Yevgeny Listnitsky.

Igor Dmitriev played a lot in the theater, starred in more than 125 films during his career. He is remembered for the films Dog in the Manger, They Led a Chest of Drawers Down the Street, Suicide Club, Prohindiada, or Running on the Spot, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, and many others.

For me, Igor Dmitriev is a close friend whom I always remember with warmth. He was a wonderful, amazingly kind person. I don’t even know if I have met another person who is as sympathetic and kind.

I remember a wonderful story that illustrates these qualities very vividly. Once, Igor Dmitriev was on a plane from a tour home to Leningrad, in my opinion, from Tashkent. And in the seat next to me was an old Uzbek, in a dressing gown and skullcap, who barely spoke Russian. This neighbor showed Igor the telegram he had just received. It turned out that the old man's son served in the army in Leningrad, the guy had an accident and was in a military hospital.

Igor Dmitriev realized that the old man was unlikely to find his son on his own. When everyone got off the plane, Igor picked up this old man, put him in his car, brought him home, since it was already late in the evening, and left him to spend the night. And in the morning I went with him to the hospital and helped the old man find his son. As a result, Igor then took his plane neighbor to the hospital for several days, and they visited the guy together. Such a kind person was my friend Igor.

    Shurik's new adventures

Well, now about the dog. Once, Igor Dmitriev, while on tour in the Leningrad region, received a gift: a puppy of an unknown breed. Judging by the fact that the paws of this puppy were large, something large would probably have grown out of it. Igor returned home to Leningrad with this puppy, bought him a collar and all the dog's personal belongings, and somehow went to the market with him. The puppy was small, Igor decided that the puppy would be trampled, tied him to the gates of the market and went to buy parsley. While he was bargaining, this and that, he returned - but there is no dog. The dog was stolen!

Then Igor covered all the nearby streets with advertisements, where he asked for a lot of money to return this puppy to him: they say, just give it back! And they began to bring him dogs. Children and adults brought him and brought some dogs, but all this was not his puppy.

It must have been a week. One day they return from the theater with their wife Larisa and see that some hefty shaggy dirty dog is tied to the door handle in their house, all in tangles, obviously from the garbage heap. And, of course, completely different from the stolen puppy. And this shaggy dog sits quietly near the door and waits for something.

It's late, midnight, no one is around. Good Igor Dmitriev brought this dog home. They washed this dog with Larisa, combed out all the tangles, bought an anti-flea collar, and the dog began to live with Igor Dmitriev in a luxurious three-room apartment. He lay on furniture made of Karelian birch, Larisa specially sprouted oats for him in large round jars from under the film, in short - a dog's paradise! They named the dog Shurik.

This Shurik had a very bad temper, apparently, he had a difficult childhood. He did not obey, he barked at everyone, in general, he was a completely ill-mannered dog. But don't get kicked out!

And then one summer Larisa called and said that Igor had gone to shoot, and it would be nice to take the dog out into nature, into the fresh air. Like, is it possible to bring him to our country house. And we had a dacha in Sosnovo.

And so my ex-husband Oleg Belov put Larisa with this dog in his "Zhigulenka" and brought to Sosnovo on our street. They opened the door - the dog jumped out into the street and saw the neighbor's chicken! I don’t know what Shurik thought at that moment, but he immediately grabbed this poor chicken by the throat and strangled it! Horror!

Oleg Belov with a bottle of vodka and this dead chicken goes to his neighbor to apologize. The neighbor gladly took the bottle, touched the dead chicken and said to Oleg: don't you need more chicken? Like, I can (for a bottle, of course) give.

... In short, this Shurik began to live in our country house, catching butterflies, but we did not let him out over the fence so that he would not bite someone. Here is such a story.

Dog Shurik lived with Igor Dmitriev for a long, long time, he lived a long happy life as a dog.

This story says that fate can give you an unexpected gift when you don't expect it at all. Sometimes it seems that life has already been determined, you are an eternal garbage dog that no one needs. But suddenly one day someone comes and leads you to a brighter future.
