How to choose reliable and high-quality school supplies, while not buying anything extra and preparing everything you need by September 1st? A future teacher will provide invaluable assistance in preparation: teachers often give parents a list of necessary supplies that every student should have. The main difficulty for parents is that today schools have a certain freedom of choice in the organization of the educational process. Choosing stationery for school together with your child

Sometimes caring parents decide everything themselves - they choose clothes, buy notebooks and school stuff, guided only by their own taste. As a result, the kid is disappointed at school before he even starts studying, just putting stupid notebooks with kittens on the cover into a stupid satchel of an unpleasant color - and he really wanted notebooks with racing cars to be bought!

The main function of childhood is preparation for adult, independent life. But how can your child become an independent person when you do not even let him choose the covers for notebooks of his own liking? Going for stationery, be sure to take your future first grader with you and listen to his opinion when choosing notebooks, a pencil case, book covers and other little things. If you think his choice is wrong, try to explain why you should not buy this particular thing. As a last resort, if you can't convince him, buy both items, but try not to make a decision against his wishes.

List of stationery in a pencil case for a 1st grade student

To make sure you buy everything you need, make a list of school stationery in advance, based on the teacher's recommendations. Typically, this list includes the following items.

Writing pens

Habits formed in childhood will stay with your child for life. In order for the baby to develop a beautiful, clear handwriting, the pen should lie comfortably in his fingers. We advise:

buy several identical simple pens with a cap, without unnecessary decorations and intricate details;
refuse to buy an automatic pen with a spring latch that distracts the child from classes;
prefer rubber-coated handles that are comfortable to hold in your fingers;
choose quality rods that do not leak and do not smear the paste;
if the child does everything with his left hand, buy special handles for left-handers.

Please note that children often lose their pens, forget them in class, break them, etc. For your first school year, you'll need at least a dozen blue-tipped pens.

In addition, it is advisable to put two pens with colored ink - red and green - into the pencil case. And also to have a few more pens of this color in stock, because, as practice shows, everything that is in the pencil case of first-graders is regularly lost.

Pencils

A first grader needs a simple medium hard pencil marked TM or HB. You should not spend money on buying an expensive collet pencil - usually children quickly break or lose them. Rubber-tipped pencils can only be a practical solution if the eraser is of good quality and able to erase the lines without smearing or damaging the paper.

Also take at least a dozen pencils in reserve, so that two pieces are always present in the pencil case.

Erasers

The main quality of a good eraser is softness: this eraser perfectly removes pencil marks and does not damage the paper. Avoid bright erasers, especially blue or red ones, as they can leave color streaks on the paper. It is best to choose a simple white or gray elastic band of medium size: small ones are uncomfortable to hold in your fingers and very easy to lose.

Pencil sharpener

Even the most expensive and high-quality pencils break from time to time, so a sharpener should always be in a briefcase. It is advisable to choose a small one so that you can put it in a pencil case. The presence of a container for chips is a prerequisite. Children often brush shavings right on the floor, and by the end of the school day, the classroom becomes unsightly. Teach your child to throw the shavings in the trash after sharpening a pencil.

Ruler

Teachers advise a first-grader to choose a ruler that fits easily in a pencil case and will not slip on the paper. The optimal ruler length is 15-20 cm. Wooden models are more durable than plastic ones. The low flexibility of wood is also a virtue to a certain extent, since flexible plastic is often used by naughty, to put it mildly, for other purposes - for shooting chewed paper and other school fun.

Colored pencils

Colored pencil sets are usually sold in cardboard or plastic boxes for easy storage and use.
