Six year old boy and chicken become best friends

        24.08.2020 20:18

This friendship can hardly be called ordinary, but that doesn't make it any less strong. It is about the friendship between six year old boy Frankie from the UK and Rosie who is a chicken. At first, the parents were skeptical about such communication, but then they saw a sincere affection between the child and the poultry.

        Shop acquaintance

The couple met when Frankie went to the local farm store to buy aquarium fish food with her mom, Sammy Bryant, 26, in October 2019. Little Frankie begged his parent to get a chicken after he saw the birds in the store, and was adamant. He really wanted to get a chicken with spots on the back, which he especially liked.

Sammy tried to convince Frankie that buying a chicken was not the best idea, that it was difficult to care for her, and that she had nowhere to live in their family. But the six-year-old child had no hesitation, and he continued to persuade his mother, whose heart finally trembled. Fortunately, one of Sammy's friends had a chicken coop that she wanted to get rid of, so a place was found for the chicken.

        An amazing friendship

Sammy and her husband thought it would be inappropriate to keep one hen, so they bought not only a red Rhode Island hen, but also a cockerel, which they named Rosie and Red. It was with Rosie that Frankie became friends.

Every morning the boy gets up very early, he checks if there are any eggs in the hen house. At the same time, he slowly drags pieces of cheese from the refrigerator to treat his pet Rosie. And she always joyfully meets a boy who hugs her and strokes her back and tummy.

Sammy honestly admits that she is surprised by such a warm relationship, because she doubted that Frankie would be interested in birds, and tried her best to dissuade him from buying. But now she sees that she was wrong and is happy about it.

Chickens are allowed to walk in the garden during the daytime. At the same time, Rosie invariably follows Frankie, in whatever direction he goes. If he goes to the kitchen, she follows him and drinks water from a dog bowl. Rosie can spend hours with the boy in the kitchen. And he loves to feed her cheese and other delicacies, which she absorbs with pleasure.

Frankie dreams of owning a farm

The family also has two dogs, but fortunately for Rosie and Red, they never touch them and pay little attention to them. The hen is very prolific, she lays eggs every day, which Frankie likes to distribute to his elderly neighbors. And those with great interest are watching the laying hen through the fence.

Rosie often watches Frankie when he jumps on the trampoline and looks forward to when he gets tired of this activity and pays attention to her. As soon as the boy approaches her, she jumps into his arms and enjoys the hug. Frankie's mom never ceases to admire this unusual friendship, she simply amazes her, because her son has never treated any pet like this before.

He also loves dogs named Blue and Didi, but nothing compares to his relationship with Rosie. And now the boy dreams of getting rich and acquiring a farm where many chickens and various other living creatures will live.

Chicken in tagine with dried fruits

This recipe is such a spontaneous variation on the theme “what was, then they put it in”, but I really liked it.
Quite simply and the taste is wonderful.

        • Chicken

          - 1.5

          kg

        • Bow

          - 3

          pcs.

        • Dried fruits

          - 500

          g

        • Garlic

          - 3

          teeth

        • Cinnamon

          - 3

          sticks

        • Ground cinnamon

          - 1

          tsp

        • Saffron

          - 1

          pinch

        • White peppercorns

        • Badian

          - 2

          sprockets

        • Nutmeg

        • Juice of 1/2 lemon

        • Olive oil

        • Sea salt

        • I have here not 1 chicken, but three "gnomes" of 500 g each
        • My dried fruit mix looked like this: 250g figs, 150g pitted prunes, 100g fine Turkish raisins.
Of course, dried apricots were asking for it here, but someone ruthlessly destroyed all my stocks (and there were a lot) and is not recognized! Termites!
        • If the chicken is very fatty, reduce the amount of liquid by half and you can do without oil.

Finely chop the onion and garlic and the chicken in fairly large pieces. Small ones I just cut into four pieces.

Making “saffron water”. Dissolve a little saffron powder in 150 ml of warm water.

        * I remind you that if you have saffron in “threads”, four or five (well, or so) is enough.
If, like me, “powder”, dose depending on its concentration. I put mine - half a teaspoon.
Taste, the taste should not be obviously "manganese".

        * Having tasted the sauce “on the way”, I also added the juice of half a lemon.

Mix salt, freshly ground pepper, a pinch of nutmeg and ground cinnamon. Rub the chicken with this mixture.
Pour olive oil, onion and garlic into a heated tagine, put the chicken (like on a pillow, and a little onion on top), add cinnamon sticks, star anise.
Pour everything with water with saffron and lemon juice.
If it's not water, but vegetable or chicken broth, it's absolutely wonderful.

Cover with a lid and simmer for 40 minutes over medium heat.

Preheat the oven to 100 degrees.
Spread well-washed dried fruits on the chicken and cover with a lid and send to the oven for an hour and a half.
The longer, the… I really like it when the meat completely “melts”.

        * I had perfect fine and “juicy” raisins, figs and prunes.
If your dried fruits are too dry, soak them briefly in warm water, let them “disperse” a little.

Everything! It turns out just fine.

Ideal with couscous, and I also love it with red rice.
