Once upon a time, a boy named Jack got himself into the biggest, most humongous heap of trouble ever. It all started when Jack’s mama asked him to milk the old cow. But Jack decided he was tired of milking cows. “No way, no how. I’m not milking this brown cow now,” said Jack, and he decided to sell the old cow, so he’d never have to milk it again! Jack was on his way to market to sell the cow when he came across a peddler. “Hi, Mr. Peddler,” said Jack. “Where are you headed?” asked the peddler. “I’m going to sell my cow at the market,” Jack answered. “Why sell your cow?” asked the peddler. “Trade her for beans!” “Beans?” asked Jack. “Not just any kind of beans,” said the peddler, “magic beans.” “What do they do?” asked Jack. “They do magic!” said the peddler. “Magic? Sold!” said Jack, and he traded the cow for three magic beans. Jack got home and told his mama he had sold the cow so he wouldn’t have to milk her anymore. “Oh dear, you did what?” Jack’s mama asked. “I sold her for magic beans,” said Jack. “You sold a cow for magic beans?” Jack’s mama couldn’t believe what Jack was telling her. “There’s no such thing as magic beans,” she said as she threw the beans out the window. “Well, I did make them disappear, but that still doesn’t make them magic!” Suddenly, the ground rumbled and began to shake. A magic beanstalk grew up right before their eyes! Jack saw it and immediately began to climb the tall beanstalk. “Get back here this instant!” called Jack’s mama, but Jack wasn’t listening. Jack climbed up and up and up and up the beanstalk. At the top of the beanstalk, Jack found a giant castle. He walked up to the giant door, cracked it open, and went inside. Inside the castle, Jack saw the most amazing thing he had ever seen. It was a goose. But it wasn’t just any old ordinary goose. This goose laid eggs made of gold! “That is so cool,” thought Jack. “Think of all the things you could do with golden eggs!” And then, Jack got the worst idea he’d ever had—he was going to take the goose! Jack lifted the goose off of its perch. Just then, the biggest, most fearsome, and only giant Jack had ever seen came into the room. The giant saw that his goose wasn’t in its usual spot! “Fee fi fo funch, if you took my goose, I’ll eat you for lunch!” “Oh no,” thought Jack. “That giant’s going to eat me! I’ve got to get out of here without him seeing me!” Quietly and carefully, Jack took the goose and made his way toward the door. He was almost out of the room when—honk! The goose cried out and the giant spotted Jack! “Fee fi fo fummy, give that back or I’ll call my mummy!” roared the giant. “Ahhh!” screamed Jack. He ran toward the beanstalk. Jack ran as quickly as he could down the beanstalk, but the giant was following close behind. Just as Jack put his feet back on the ground, the giant picked up Jack in his enormous hands. “Fee fi fo fummy, I bet you taste yum yum yummy!” said the giant. Just as the giant was about to eat Jack, the ground began to shake, and there, standing right behind the giant, was an even bigger, taller, more humongous lady giant! “Two giants!” thought Jack. “They’ll eat me now for sure!” “Put that boy down, Willifred,” the giant mama told her son. The giant put Jack back down on the ground. “Now what have I told you?” she asked. “Don’t eat other kids,” said the giant sheepishly. “That’s right, we don’t eat other kids,” said the mama giant. “But he took my goose!” cried the giant. Just then, Jack’s mama came out of the farmhouse. “What on earth is going on here?” she asked. “Well,” Jack began, “there was this castle, and inside was the coolest goose ever—it lays golden eggs! As I was taking it, this giant kid came in and was all ‘fee fi fo fum’ and then I—” “You mean you took this boy’s goose?” Jack’s mama interrupted. “Yeah, but it lays golden eggs!” Jack paused and thought about it. “Huh. Now that you mention it, I guess that wasn’t very nice,” said Jack. Jack looked at the giant. “I’m sorry I took your goose. I know I shouldn’t take things that don’t belong to me.” “That’s OK. I suppose I should’ve asked you to give me back the goose without trying to eat you. I’m sorry too,” said the giant. “Hey, do you want to play baseball?” Jack and the giant became good friends, using the beanstalk to visit each other whenever they wanted. “You know,” Jack said, “if it weren’t for those three magic beans, I never would have learned how to play giant baseball.” “You’re right,” said the giant. “I’d say the whole adventure was a giant success!”

This is Goldilocks. She is called Goldilocks because of her sproingy locks of golden hair. Goldilocks is an expert at skipping. Usually Goldilocks likes to skip around the pond, but today she decided to skip through the forest. Along the path she noticed the cutest, coziest cottage she had ever seen. “I wonder who lives in such a cute, cozy cottage,” Goldilocks thought. Goldilocks skipped to the cottage for a closer look. She knocked on the door and was disappointed when no one answered. Then it hit her—the most wonderful smell she had ever smelled! “Porridge!” Goldilocks said dreamily as her stomach rumbled. “That smell is making me hungry! I don’t think anyone would mind if I went in for a quick taste.” She opened the door to the cottage. After all that skipping, Goldilocks was starving. Goldilocks went to the table, where she found three bowls of porridge. She tasted the first bowl. “Too sweet!” she said. Then she tasted the middle bowl. “Too cinnamony!” she said. Finally she tasted the last bowl. It was just right! “Wow! This is delicious porridge!” she said. After all that skipping and eating, Goldilocks wanted to sit down. Goldilocks looked around the cozy cottage and noticed three chairs. She sat in the first chair. “Too hard!” she said. Then she sat in the middle chair. “Too cushiony!” she said. Finally she sat in the last chair. It was just right! “This is the most comfortable chair ever!” she said. After all that skipping and eating and sitting, Goldilocks was feeling sleepy. She went into the next room and saw three beds. She flopped onto the first bed. “Too firm!” she said. Then she flopped onto the middle bed. “Too pillowy!” she said. Finally she flopped onto the last bed. It was just right! “Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!” she said. Meanwhile, three bears came in the door. “That was a fine skip through the forest,” said the papa bear. “It’s good to be home,” said the mama bear. “I’m hungry!” said the little bear. The bears went over to the table, where they noticed something was different about their porridge. “Somebody’s been eating my porridge,” said the papa bear. “And somebody’s been eating my porridge,” said the mama bear. “Hey, my porridge is almost gone!” said the little bear. The bears ate what was left of their porridge and then went to sit down. They noticed something was different about their chairs. “Somebody’s been sitting in my chair,” said the papa bear. “And somebody’s been sitting in my chair,” said the mama bear. “Hey! My chair looks like a person!” said the little bear. After all that skipping and wondering about porridge and chairs, the bears were sleepy, and they headed to bed. They noticed something was different about their beds. “Somebody’s been flopping in my bed,” said the papa bear. “And somebody’s been flopping in my bed,” said the mama bear. “Hey! There’s a girl in my bed!” said the little bear. Goldilocks opened one eye, then the other. She saw three bears staring at her. “Hello,” said the little bear. “We’re the bears that live here.” “You are?” said Goldilocks, wide eyed. “Did you know that you have the best porridge, chair, and bed in the whole world?” “I think so too!” said the little bear. “You don’t mind that I tried them?” asked Goldilocks. “No, I don’t mind!” said the little bear. “Let’s play!” The little bear invited Goldilocks to stay, and they laughed and had pillow fights all morning long.

Once I was sitting and sitting and for no reason at all suddenly thought of something that even surprised myself. I thought how nice it would be if everything around the world was arranged the other way around. Well, for example, for children to be in charge in all matters and adults should have to obey them in everything, in everything. In general, adults should be like children, and children like adults. That would be great, it would be very interesting.

Firstly, I imagine how my mother would “like” such a story that I go around and command it as I want, and probably dad wouldn’t like it either, but there’s nothing to say about grandmother, she would probably spend all day I would have roared. Needless to say, I would show them how much a pound is worth, I would remember everything!

For example, my mother would be sitting at dinner, and I would say to her:

“Why did you start a fashion without bread? Here's more news! Look at yourself in the mirror, who do you look like? Poured Koschey! Eat now, they tell you! - And she would eat with her head down, and I would only give the command: - Faster! Don't hold your cheek! Thinking again? Are you solving the world's problems? Chew properly! And don't rock in your chair!"

And then dad would come in after work, and before he even had time to undress, I would have already shouted:

“Ah, he came! You always have to wait! My hands now! As it should, as it should be mine, there is nothing to smear the dirt. After you, the towel is scary to look at. Brush three and spare no soap. Come on, show me your nails! It's horror, not nails. It's just some claws! Where are the scissors? Don't move! I do not cut with any meat, but I cut it very carefully. Don't sniffle, you're not a girl. Like this. Come to the table, sit down."

He would sit down and quietly say to his mother:

“How are you?”

And she would also say softly:

“Nothing, thank you!”

And I would immediately:

“Talk at the table! When I eat, I am deaf and dumb! Remember this for the rest of your life. Golden Rule! Papa, put down the newspaper now, you are my punishment!”

And they would sit like silk, and when my grandmother came, I would squint, clasp my hands and shout:

“Dad! Mother! Take a look at your grandma! What a view! The chest is open, the hat is on the back of the head! Cheeks are red, the whole neck is wet! Okay, nothing to say. Admit it, I played hockey again! What is that dirty stick? Why did you bring her into the house? It's a stick! Get her out of my sight right now—to the back door!”

Then I would walk around the room and tell all three of them:

“After dinner, everyone sit down for lessons, and I'll go to the cinema!”

Of course, they would immediately whine and whimper:

“And we are with you! And we also want to go to the cinema!”

And I would tell them:

“Nothing, nothing! Yesterday we went to a birthday party, on Sunday I took you to the circus! Look! I enjoyed having fun every day. Sit at home! Here you have thirty kopecks for ice cream, and that’s it!”

Then grandmother would have prayed:

“Take me at least! After all, each child can bring one adult with him for free!”

But I would evade, I would say:
