Congratulations to the Homer High School Class of 2022! With all you have overcome, we are confident you will go far.
The Homer Education Foundation has partnered with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to send books directly to preschool age children in the Homer Central School District. Each month, participating children receive a book delivered directly to their home. We believe we can foster a love of reading, strengthen family-child relationships, and contribute to a foundation of school readiness with this simple but powerful gesture.
For every $1 we contribute to postage-our financial part of the literacy partnership--the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Foundation matches with about $5 on a book. You can help us reach our goal of enrolling 100% of the eligible children in the Homer District by contributing to the HEF.
We want all of Homer's youngest children, from birth to five years old, to be among the lucky boys and girls who receive the gift of books, delivered free of charge, to their home each month.
For more information, contact the Instruction Office at (607) 749-1206
MissionThe mission of the Homer Education Foundation is to promote the development of excellence in instruction, to encourage innovation in programming and to ensure pride in the Homer Central School District by students, staff, alumni and the greater school community. The Homer Education Foundation will strive to provide financial resources for student scholarships, educational initiatives, programs, and projects that will enhance and add to those already included in the annual school district budget.
This academic year the foundation has given approximately $10,000 to the teachers & staff for programs for students. There are no administration costs to the Foundation and therefore 100% of your dollars have a direct impact. We are happy for the support of the community and ask that you come and participate in our events thank you.

Adi Shankar was not involved in the production of The Simpsons
The Simpsons writer/producer Al Jean denied Adi Shankar's claim that he would remove Indian Apu Nahasapeemapetilon from the animated series. There have been numerous complaints in the past about the character, who was considered by many to be a racist caricature of South Asian immigrants.
Producer Adi Shankar, who earlier announced his intention to remove the Indian Apu Nahasapimapetilon from The Simpsons, turned out not to be involved in the production of the tape. This is evidenced by the statement of the screenwriter and producer of the animated film Al Jean on Twitter.
In an interview with IndireWire, Shankar claimed that the creators of The Simpsons allegedly made the decision to get rid of Apu. To confirm his words, he referred to numerous anonymous sources.
Meanwhile, Al Jean drew attention to the fact that Shankar was mistakenly presented by some media as a producer of The Simpsons, but he is not. The screenwriter of the tape emphasized that the statements of the cinematographer have no basis.
"I wish him well, but he doesn't talk about our show," Al said.
It is known that in 2017, Adi Shakar initiated a competition, the idea of which was to change the image of Apu. Participants must submit their options, and the best work was planned to be sent to Fox. The reason for this was the numerous complaints about this character, nicknamed a racist caricature of immigrants from South Asia.
Previously, various Indian celebrities spoke about Apu, for example, Priyanka Chopra, who called him her "curse".
"It's a time in our culture where people really like to pretend to be offended," The Simpsons creator Matt Groening told The New York Times.
Groening also added that the whole image of Apu was an imitation of the Bengali Apu Trilogy, which he called one of the best films ever made.
In November 2016, the University of Glasgow introduced a new philosophy course based on the sayings of Homer Simpson.
A course called D'oh! The Simpsons Represents Philosophy is described as follows:
The Simpsons is one of the great cultural artifacts of the modern world, in part because it is so saturated with philosophy. Aristotle, Kant, Marx, Camus, and the ideas of many other great thinkers are presented in what is perhaps the purest philosophical form, the comic cartoon. The modern school will explore the most interesting ideas of philosophy as they are presented in the monument that Matt Groening erected to the absurdities of human existence. Let's explore some of the most inspiring ideas in philosophy as they are presented in The Simpsons.
The New Statesman has published a selection comparing some of Homer's maxims with well-known philosophical statements.
“Children, you tried your best and you failed miserably. Lesson: never try." (Homer Simpson)
"All human actions are equivalent, and they are all basically doomed to failure." (Sartre)
“It takes two to lie. One deceives, the other listens." (Homer Simpson)
"A person allows himself to be deceived […] people do not avoid being deceived in the same way that they avoid being harmed by being deceived." (Nietzsche)
“How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Plus, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I decided to take the home vintner course, I forgot how to drive a car?” (Homer Simpson)
“To know is to understand that you don't know anything.
