Create an Apple ID for your child

Instead of sharing an account with your child, which can give them unwanted access to your personal data, create an Apple ID for them. Then you can easily set age-based parental controls, and they can use Family Sharing, Messages, the App Store, and other Apple services. 

How to create an Apple ID for your child

Children under 13 can't create an Apple ID on their own. (This age varies by region.) But if you're the family organizer or a guardian, you can create an Apple ID for your child.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

In iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 or later
  1. Go to Settings > Family. 
  2. Tap the Add Member button .
  3. Tap Create Child Account, then tap Continue.
  4. Enter the child's name and birth date. Be sure to enter the correct birth date — you can't change it later.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up the account. For your child's Apple ID, you can use their email address, the suggested @icloud. com address, or their Game Center nickname. 
In iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 or earlier
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap your name, then tap Family Sharing. 
  3. Tap Add Member.
  4. Tap Create an Account for a Child, then tap Continue.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up the account. You can use the child's email address for their Apple ID, or their Game Center nickname. Be sure to enter the correct birth date — you can't change it later.

On your Mac

To verify that you're an adult, you need a credit card.

In macOS Ventura or later
  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Family. 
  2. Click Add Member.
  3. Click Create Child Account.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up the account. Be sure to enter the correct birth date — you can't change it later. For your child's Apple ID, you can use their email address or their Game Center nickname.  
In macOS Monterey or earlier
  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Family Sharing.
  2. Click the Add button .
  3. Click Create Child Account.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up the account. You can use the child's email address for their Apple ID, or their Game Center nickname. Be sure to enter the correct birth date — you can't change it later.

About settings and features for kids under 13

Some Apple ID settings and features work differently for children under 13. For example, a child under 13 can't create an Apple ID without permission and consent from a parent or guardian. The minimum age for account creation may vary across countries and regions as follows: Under 14 in Austria, Bulgaria, China mainland, Cyprus, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, South Korea, and Spain. Under 15 in Czech Republic, France, Greece, Peru, and Slovenia. Under 16 in Brazil, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Singapore, and Slovakia. Under 13 in all other countries and regions.

Create individual experiences as unique as your kids
Create up to eight kid profiles, each with their own viewing preferences, video recommendations, and settings. Choose from “Approved Content Only” mode or select an age category that fits your child, “Preschool”, “Younger”, or “Older”.

Select the “Approved Content Only” mode if you want to handpick the videos, channels and/or collections that you’ve approved your child to watch. In this mode, kids won’t be able to search for videos. The “Preschool” Mode designed for kids 4 and under curates videos that promote creativity, playfulness, learning, and exploration. The “Younger” Mode allows kids 5-8 to explore their interests in a wide variety of topics including songs, cartoons, and crafts. While our “Older” Mode gives kids 9 and up the chance to search and explore additional content such as popular music and gaming videos for kids.

Love this app!

So I think you should get this app because it doesn’t let your kid go on anything inappropriate. If you set it to their age then it will show age appropriate videos. And you can block channels and videos you might think are inappropriate for your kid. And your kid can be educated when they are on the app. Also you kid may also choose their profile picture! And what my kid loves about this app is that there is a cute little intro that shows you kid and me that their in the app. But what I absolutely love about this app is that you can set a timer when this app turns off. So if your little one is on this app then it will not let your kid in any of the videos. Don’t worry if your kid can get into the important stuff to control the app it has a math problem that your kid can’t solve. So this is the reason I think you should really get this app.

Potential to be my child’s best

There is so much potential with this app I would like to suggest a few things hopefully it will get to the right persons. For starters, I would like to be able to save my child’s favorite videos. I would also like to be able to delete particular videos, without deleting the entire channel or show. For example, there are some Cocomelon videos that I would like to play and there are some I would prefer my child not to see. I would also like for those commonly searched item or favorite videos to replay randomly throughout auto play sessions, and be able to access on demand. It would also be great to choose videos that appear in your chosen language. Sometimes I find that my child watches videos in Bosnian or Russian language, but he’s still learning English, and Spanish. This is major confusing for both me and my child. Please help where and if possible. Thank you.

SAFETY INSURING PARENTS, CHECK THIS!

We all understand that safety is a primary factor for many online apps these days. But what comes to a parents’ mind: not all apps base their app on something for kids or minors. Which is truly accurate. If your kid requests an answer for whether or not they could have THIS app though…wow..I gotta say yes. It is actually NOT too good to be true…it’s amazingly filtered and hand-picked videos are selected for little kids and a bit older ones too. It ranges from 4 and under to 9-12. Sure, trusting an online review can be tough. Is this person throwing crazy ideas into a public letter or actually proposing something phenomenal? Go and look into the app yourself. Act as your child, see what they can access. Guaranteed happiness and ensured safety and appropriateness.

Help your child set up their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Set up your child's device for Family Sharing, device security, and more. If you've already set up your child's device, you can change device and feature settings.

Set Face ID, Touch ID, or Passcode

Set a passcode that your child can use to unlock the device. Don't use the same password on your child's device and on your device. Remind your child that this passcode should not be shared with others.

You can also set up Face ID or Touch ID to unlock your device with just a glance or touch. You can set up an alternate look for Face ID and up to five fingerprints, so you can add your own in addition to a face or a child's fingerprints.

With Family Sharing, you and up to five family members can share Apple service subscriptions with each other , such as iCloud+ and Apple Music. You can also share purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, and more, and find each other's missing devices.

If you haven't set up Family Sharing yet, follow the on-screen instructions to create an Apple ID for your child, turn on Find My, and set up parental controls like Screen Time and Ask to Buy.

An Apple ID is an account used in Messages, the App Store, and other Apple services. Each user must have their own Apple ID, so don't share your Apple ID with your child. If a child uses your Apple ID, they will have access to all of your personal content, including text messages and photos.

If your child doesn't have an Apple ID, you can create one when you set up Family Sharing.

If your child already has an Apple ID, please continue using it. Have your child sign in to appleid.apple.com and make sure the birthday is correct.
