Project "What does a letter look like.

.."

In grade 1, after studying all the letters of the alphabet, children are asked to complete the project "What does a letter look like". In the poems of Soviet writers, letters begin to come to life before the eyes of astonished first-graders. The letter A turns into a rocket, the letter Zh - into a beetle, the letter M - a swing, etc.

While working on a project, first-graders draw a letter, bringing it to life. Then they learn a poem about their letter. The verse can be written under the picture. Each child brings their own project to the class and it turns out a fun ABC.

methods and exercises for speech development

children all the day harasses the grandmother with the sentence “pray and repent”, and the old woman can’t understand in any way that the grandson really just wants to read about “The Kid and Carlson”? The reason for this is the sound "P", which is considered one of the most difficult to pronounce in the world. We offer a set of exercises and recommendations that will tell you how to quickly teach a child to say the letter R.

Masha Guseva

how to teach a child to pronounce the sound "P" - exercises and advice to parents.

Contents of the article

Do not self-medicate! In our articles, we collect the latest scientific data and the opinions of authoritative health experts. But remember: only a doctor can diagnose and prescribe treatment.

What is the cause of burr

Previously, doctors believed that burr was associated solely with congenital shortening of the frenulum - this small piece of tissue prevents the tongue from moving normally, rising high when pronouncing the sound and preventing the child from saying the sound "P". Alas, a short frenulum is far from the only speech therapy problem. To date, experts know more than 25 types of violations of this "capricious R-R-R":

  • Complete absence of sound. In this case, the baby simply does not say "P" and instead of the word "cow" he gets "koova".
  • Throat sound. Such pronunciation is the norm for German and French, but in Russian it is considered a violation. This speech defect is caused by the fact that when a child pronounces “P”, instead of the tip of the tongue, the person vibrates the soft palate or a small tongue on it.
  • Single-strike "R" is somewhat akin to the English "R" (and it is called so because in the process of pronouncing the sound “P” by a child, the tip of the tongue does not vibrate, but hits the hard palate only once).
  • During lateral pronunciation, the edges of the tongue vibrate : if you look closely at the child, you will notice that at the moment when he says “P”, the exhaled air does not go forward, but to the side.
  • Coachman sound. Here again the wrong thing is vibrating: the lips. It sounds like "tpr-r-ru" - hence the name. Fortunately, such a violation is quite rare.
  • Nasal sound, in which "P" is pronounced "into the nose", as in a runny nose. The soft palate does not close the passage to the nasal cavity, as a result, air leaks in the wrong direction, and the child pronounces P incorrectly.

Exercises to speak correctly P

In order for a child to learn to pronounce the letter “P”, you need to practice regularly: 5 times a day (then the number of repetitions increases to 8 times) in front of a mirror. At the initial stages, show the child what and how he should do - so the baby will quickly learn what they want from him.

“Window”

Open your mouth as wide as possible and hold it in this position on the count - first it will be 1-2-3, then 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8. In other words, the longer the better.

"Cuckoo"

The mouth is wide open, the tip of the tongue is alternately placed on the upper lip and removed behind the upper teeth.

“Brushing teeth”

With the tip of the tongue on the teeth from the inside.

Accordion

Tongue lift up and "suck" to the palate. Without tearing your tongue from the palate, open and close your mouth.

“Malyar”

Open your mouth wide, lift your tongue up, touch the bumps behind your upper teeth and move your tongue back and forth across the palate. Vibration exercise.

“Drum”

Open your mouth wide, lift the tip of your tongue up and say loudly, abruptly: “D-d-d-d-d.”

Exercise for calling the sound "P": open your mouth wide, lift your tongue up, bring it closer to the tubercles near the upper teeth, blow hard on the end of the tongue so that it vibrates and pronounce the sound "P" for a long time. For clarity, you can offer the child to bring his palm to his mouth - so he can feel and fix the correct movement of air.

Do I need to have surgery to speak R correctly?

To check if your baby has a short frenulum or not, ask him to open his mouth as wide as possible and “suck” his tongue to the palate. If a child cannot raise his tongue high, does it with difficulty or through pain, then everything is really not all right with the most important “speaking organ”, therefore the child cannot pronounce the sound R correctly.

There are two solutions to the problem: you can immediately cut the bridle , or you can try to stretch it. Speech therapists advise not to rush into the operation and try to correct the defect with stretching exercises. The course is designed for two months of daily classes, but if no changes occur, you can safely go to a dental surgeon. Cutting the frenulum is a simple operation: after an anesthetic injection, the doctor performs the necessary manipulations in 5-10 minutes and applies stitches (they are removed after 4-6 days). But after that, the problem with pronunciation of the letter "R" will be solved.

By the way: Some clinics have learned how to cut the frenulum with a laser - this allows you to avoid the procedure for removing sutures.

The most popular questions for a speech therapist with problems with the "P" sound

The speech therapist says to cut the frenulum, and the surgeon categorically objects to the operation. Who is right?

If a surgeon gives you clear arguments against cutting (anesthesia is contraindicated, blood vessels are close), then you should listen to him. In this situation, it is necessary to convey his words to the speech therapist and ask him to prescribe a new set of exercises in order to teach the child to say "R", based on the fact that the operation is impossible.

How do you explain to a child the difference between a sound and a letter?

Very simple. We speak and hear the sound, and we write and read the letter.

What happens if you do not correct a speech defect in childhood? Maybe it will pass by itself?

Alas, the defect will take hold and over time will not disappear anywhere. Babies may have difficulty reading and writing. Adolescents often experience embarrassment before speech, and then - as a result - there is isolation, in which, of course, there is nothing good. In adulthood, it is quite possible to learn how to pronounce any sound correctly (including "P"), only it will take much more time and effort than in childhood. So don't delay!

Father (mother, grandfather) did not pronounce / still does not pronounce "P" in childhood. Could it be that it is precisely with this that the child's diction disorders are connected?

Yes, maybe. There is a hereditary predisposition to burr. In addition, the baby could simply learn the wrong pronunciation in the process of communicating with this person, therefore he himself says the letter "P" incorrectly - in this case, you should try to limit their contact until the sound is fixed.

Can I, mum or dad, attend speech therapy sessions?

You are absolutely right. But, unfortunately, your presence can distract the child from the exercises. That is why speech therapists often ask parents to leave the classroom for the duration of the lesson while they are teaching the child to say the letter P and pronounce other sounds.

The child does not want to study. What to do?

First of all, find out the cause. Is he in pain or is he too tired? Maybe it's worth reducing the load a little? Or is the kid just not motivated enough? You know the child better than anyone else, so you will surely be able to find the "key" to him. For success in classes, you can reward the child with sweets or stickers with the image of his favorite characters. In a word, look for a way, and you will be rewarded in the form of a baby pronouncing the letter "P" without any problems.

Where to find a speech therapist

  1. In a polyclinic.
  2. Kindergarten or school (depending on where your child is enrolled).
  3. In the CDC (Consultative and Diagnostic Center).

In the latter case, it is possible to visit not only a speech therapist to start saying the letter "R", but also a family and child psychologist, neurologist and other specialists. A list of such institutions, both free and commercial, and information about them, parents can see on the website: www.childpsy.ru/organizations/index.php

Why do you need a speech therapist to speak P correctly

After a set of exercises, the desired sound may not appear, the child may not start saying the letter “P”. This means that it will have to be called mechanically, and here you can’t do without a speech therapist. With the help of a frightening type of instruments - probes - the speech therapist will artificially create fluctuations of the tongue, and then slowly "accustom" the articulatory apparatus to work without outside help. In addition, doctors use in their work both probe massage (in case of poor tongue mobility), and a number of other techniques that are difficult to describe.

In general, sooner or later your burr will roar like a real lion, unaware of fear and doubt. But, if you want to teach your child to say the letter "P", remember that the work of even the best specialist will not give results if you do not work with the child at home, meticulously following all medical recommendations.

UR-R-RA! How to fix the letter R

And finally, this day has come! Your child pronounced the letter "R" correctly! The kid is happy, you are happy, but nevertheless, you can’t stop there: in fact, everything is just beginning! It is necessary to consolidate success and make sure that the child freely, without hesitation, uses "P" in everyday speech. To do this, repeat various syllables with him (first direct, like "ra", then reverse, like "ar"), and then move on to the next step - easy words. Gradually introduce chains of words (at the same time you will train your auditory-speech memory) and longer words. Does everything work out? Great, so you can do “pure words”, which you can come up with on your own - for example: “In the morning we go to the subway, ro-ro-ro”. So what, what nonsense, but it works! The main thing is to make sure that there are no complex sounds “L”, “L soft”, “Y” and “R soft” in the working material, otherwise “mixing” may occur and the baby will simply get confused.
