It’s 1997 and London is about to have its last daytime rave.

The end of an era is approaching. British South Asians flock for their last taste of rebellion. Among them are cousins Farhan and Sadiq. Both very different. Both escaping something. Both trying to decide what it means to be British and Pakistani, to be Muslim and a man – and they’ve got until 6pm to figure it out.

Inspired by the daytime raves of 1990s British Asian culture, Daytime Deewane explores the beauty and struggle of living with a multi-cultural identity as a teenager. Featuring a DJ mix merging soundscapes, dance music and spoken word, this immersive new show is an exhilarating gig theatre adventure.

Daytime Deewane, by Azan Ahmed, is the latest production from Half Moon, the UK’s leading small-scale young people’s venue and touring company, winner of the 2019 and 2018 Offies Award (Off West End Theatre) for Best Production for Young People Age 13+ (Crowded and What Once Was Ours).

Run time 60 mins

Content Warning: Daytime Deewane includes mild references to self-harm. As part of depicting the experience of British South Asians in the 1990s, at times characters in the play refer to language which is racially offensive.

one snowy day January 22, 2022: odin_moy_den — LiveJournal

Hello everyone!
My name is Anastasia and I am HSP.
I live in St. Petersburg on Moskovsky Prospekt, my children and their father are from St. Petersburg. While we live together, but everything will change, since A.S. and I decided to divorce. It turned out not to be scary at all, despite the fact that I don’t work anywhere and we don’t have our own housing.

Our quiet weekend in 70 photos.

10.20 I woke up from a call with Avito.
They want to take away the bible I put out there.
I'm not a particularly religious person, but I had a bible 20 years ago found on a street in the Kazakh city of Taraz. And recently I bought another one, in flipbook format (I love these small stylish books and collect them). I don't need two and I put the old one up for sale for a symbolic price.
1

Cheerful voices of children are heard from the kitchen, I quickly change my clothes and go to see what is happening there.
Andrey draws his sister. It's nice to see everyone in a good mood, and the portrait is good, it's worth capturing. I run for the camera and at the same moment I decide to shoot one of my days.
A.S. made tea and everyone is going to have breakfast with yesterday's cold pizza. I advise to warm up, the proposal is approved and I go back to the room.
2

Trying to wake up.
3

Good thing it's a day off. Outside the window snow. The room is like a hole. All this is very comfortable.
We have been renting this apartment for more than three years. I love it as my own and adorn it.
4

Sardel came to keep me company. But today I don't hunt birds))
5

I admire the snowfall. In this window, snow, and leaf fall, too, looks spectacular. Because everything goes up, not down.
I made the magic wand myself. I notice a dried puddle and go .. no, not for a rag)) I go to drink. It seems that I finally woke up, just remembered about the hot water with lemon on an empty stomach.
6

And I remembered about OMD, and about watches.
They wear 10.45.
I drank a mug of sour water and another half of plain water. Just then, the intercom rings.
7

Photo for memory. New and old. I gave it up and I'm going to cook breakfast for myself.
8

I'm allergic to gluten and haven't eaten pizza in years. All traces of her presence disappeared, I put a tablecloth to hide the crumbs:)
For breakfast, I have an omelet whipped with a blender with spinach. I eat with my left hand, I tweet with my right hand in my son’s sketchbook, I was too lazy to go for mine
9

I drink thyme and again admire the snowflakes. I'm waiting for the understanding of what to do today.
10

My son tells me about a spider-man hanging by his leg. I don't really understand, but I listen.
Then I go to wash my face.
11

Time 11.30
The column is weird again. Recently, it has again begun to make a sound like a cannon on Petropavlovka at noon - a real loud explosion. Very scary. The first time she did this, everything was decided by replacing the batteries. Yesterday they put new ones, although the former ones had not worked for very long, but this did not help.
A.S. calls the gasman and arranges a meeting.
12

The humidifier went out during the night. I pour water.
13

My daughter almost always draws. I would like to inform you that the bath is free, deliberately loud so that everyone can hear))
14

Without creams, the face dries out, so it is a must, although it is boring. But I like the powder. The scent, the texture and the fluffy brush to apply it with. Photo from December 31, 2015 in Bulgaria. I'm warming myself.
Yes, you must show yourself!
15

Now, just turn on the gymnastics playlist for my daughter on the activator. She herself did not even think to remember .. Gymnastics is needed to align the dentition according to the OSB system. It is not difficult: three times a day for 12 minutes, squeeze and unclench the jaws in a special cap. Legs at a right angle, arms to the sides.
I also sewed a notebook for her for the New Year, by the way. All her gifts were soft, from her old clothes.
16

This is me. MORE is written on the shirtfront. This is about me - all the best and more! So I stole and implemented the idea, almost without being tormented by moral principles.
17

While a soothing melody is playing, I take my bullet journal, fill in the date and weather. Just from a clean slate.

I rarely have anything planned in advance. Only emergency visits. And routine. But I don’t include it in the plan of the day, but I mark what has been done on a special page. It is so convenient to follow my daughter's gymnastics, taking vitamins, meditation and kinesiotherapy. The rest is intuitive. So my day is drawing to a close. I just take notes where I was, what I did. Sometimes what I thought.

Gymnastics is over and I understand what I want to do. I'm going to walk around the cemetery.
Actually, I thought today my daughter and I will go to Red Pencil, which opened in St. Petersburg shortly before the introduction of QR codes .. and even thought of what I would buy there so as not to go crazy with the variety of art goods. I would buy watercolor white and acrylic. White is always needed! But yesterday I called to clarify and yes, the qar code is required. Okay, another time.
18

The son finishes washing the dishes. Well done! On weekends, children help - someone washes the dishes after breakfast, someone after dinner.
19

Sardel was sitting opposite, helping as best he could.
I warmed up some gluten-free pancakes for the road. I always try to keep a supply of food in the freezer in case of travel or stress :)
Actually, such a diet is one continuous stress. Because you always have to foresee and prepare. You won’t run into a bakery, cafe or shop like all normal people. And it is very difficult for me to foresee everything. Some important link is always missing.
But lately I take care of myself and don't hang anything extra. For example, until recently, I always took the children on some kind of trip every weekend. To do this, it was necessary to collect not only provisions for themselves, but also for the children. And it’s not easy to collect them - for dinner, they only brushed their teeth after breakfast. But this is not suitable for travel, there is a completely arcuate rhythm. Usually when we are already returning home, we see traffic jams in the oncoming lane. Relaxed to pack up and drive towards new experiences in traffic jams? - well, I do not. So we had to mobilize. It took a lot of effort. And now I go for a walk alone and rarely go further than the center. But, of course, if the children themselves ask to go somewhere, I will certainly and with great pleasure take them.
20

I don't think I forgot anything. I will return the book to the library on the way. Some kind of slight cold feeling from yesterday is trying to catch up. I'll take paracetamol just in case.
21

I'm leaving. No eyelashes - snowfall!
22

The car had to be cleaned.
23

It pierces me. I haven't driven in a long time. And the day before yesterday I found out that a friend of my youth had died. From a heart attack, driving. Imagination draws Sasha. Probably the weather on December 16 was the same in Moscow .. I managed to slow down .. I poked my nose into the car ahead .. Sasha is my age. Was.

I remember how we had fun going to someone's wedding on a yacht on Lake Issyk-Kul. One of the best experiences in my life. It was sunny, sincere, fun! We sang songs all night, and the next day at dinner in a Kyrgyz restaurant, I fell asleep on a bed (this is such a patchwork mattress, they sit at the table on it)

mages." It was a dacha party of students and teachers of the DEIR school. At the time, I had no idea who these people were. I had fun to the fullest - chopping firewood, loading clay with a shovel, even trying to master welding. She also lay in clover and smiled at the sun.

Sashka was a hefty two-meter guy, a musician and a lawyer. He said that he managed to go into the astral plane, and that he knew what year of life he would marry. The year finally came together. I wonder if he knew about death too?
24

library. I wanted to shoot the stucco on the next wall, but the focus moved out.
25

No Rosman's Harry Potter. I am pleasantly surprised to see that all the halls of the library are occupied by cool people. Here they play board games, in the next one they even dance!

But I drove further along Moskovsky Prospekt to the Novodevichy Cemetery. For some reason I have not been there before, although I live nearby. I saw stone flowers from a friend on Instagram and decided to see them with my own eyes.
26

Five minutes from the library and I'm there.
The weather is wonderful, very suitable for today's walk.
27

A grandmother with a stroller also counts :)
28

Golden mosaic, shining.
29

I will show the knight's coat of arms to my son, he is fond of it. At the age of eight, I had already read King Arthur twice and everything that I found at home and in libraries about knights.
Now for the dream of the future Tolkien is reading. I myself tried to read this volume .. I am a big fan of reading. But she couldn't. On the very first pages, all these names and titles stopped me, like an impenetrable thicket.
30

I'm leaving.
On the way back I stop by VkusVill. I don’t take pictures, because it’s crowded there and there is a lot to do in the shortest period of time: put on a mask, scan a card with a phone, pay with a card. Yes, I know that you can talk with your phone, but I'm a retrograde and I dodge every innovation "to make life easier" as long as possible.
31

Houses. My voices were heard on the stairs. And for sure - there is no one at home, so let's go for ice cream just right.
Time on the doorstep and shopping (two servings from cooking and corned cottage cheese - A.S. loves it)
32

Freshly prepared fish soup and salad are waiting for me. Very handy!
33

After having dinner, I washed the plate... And I realized that when I returned home Sardelidze did not meet me!
Found and flashed. Although, of course, you can understand a person - as soon as the door closed, he went to bed and suddenly the door opens again ...

Sardelka's name is Sir Daniel. We dragged him a year and a quarter ago from Nizhny Novgorod, they threw him out into the street .. On Instagram I saw a cry for help, they say the cat is missing, if anyone needs it ... I would never have thought that I needed a cat. I have never had any animals and need them too. But from that photo, SUCH a cat looked at me, SUCH a look! From under such eyebrows a house))

They immediately equipped an expedition. Friends instructed, gave a carrier, a tray, toys. I wanted to go by car with the whole family, travel in the last days of summer vacation. I have never been to Nizhny Novgorod. (Yes, and in Moscow was not) Adventure, adventure! Hooray, give me two) But, after weighing it, I decided that I could not master it.
Then A.S. I bought a plane ticket and flew .. I caught the cat with the help of that kind girl who was looking for his owners, made him a passport and brought him by train.
He somehow quickly fattened up to seven kg and mostly lay evenly on the floor, his paws spread out to the sides. Therefore Sardel and not Sir Daniel.
34

I go back to the kitchen, put the kettle on and empty the only pot of buckwheat to pour the fish soup into it. Somehow it popped into my head that you can’t store food in aluminum dishes. A.S. cooked fish soup in a bowler hat, which I bought this summer along with sleeping bags and sleeping mats, to go to an island in Karelia with an overnight stay. But it didn't work out. Grandma died of covid in the hospital just at the height of summer.
35

I feel like if I don't switch now, I might "boot".
Why, I'm alone at home! You can dance! No, I also sometimes arrange parties with children, but this is still different. Dancing when no one is watching is where you can relax and recharge at the same time.
The doll sits on the column, because when Sardel is angry and wants to tell us something important, he climbs to eat hibiscus. She blocked all the sections on the chest of drawers so that she would not jump - she jumped right on the column! But now it certainly doesn't.
36

my 10 minutes, no more time
37

The children and dad returned. I gave them a tip on ice cream in the fix price, they have been going for it every weekend for six months now. Sardel meets. Obviously didn't sleep well.
38

I am making bread dough. This happens about once every 10 days for me.
39

all in the kitchen. Sticking to the seagulls...
40

Instructing Adele how to call the library through the navigator and book "HP and the Deathly Hallows". I try to give my children the responsibility they can.
41

I kneaded the bread and put it into the moulds. I rejoice at the beautiful elephant that Andr made.
42

chew gum, blow bubbles. Time 16.45. Got a message from ozone that the orders had been delivered. Why don't you go now while the bread is rising?
43

I persuaded the children (actually, everyone worked up today), let's go. At the exit I met a neighbor - a programmer Misha. Loaded two younger children into the car, chatted. It didn't even cross my mind to take pictures :) We turned the corner and met Irina, a neighbor from the second floor. It is strange now to look at photos of empty yards instead of smiling faces.
44

Ozone in the neighboring yard practically. I have never used it before, but now I order every little thing there and there is always a reason to walk.
45

Adele goes to the fitting room, this is also our first time. But such a thing - you can’t enter a shopping center without a code, and I never bought her a school blouse. The child wears the one I sewed last year, the sleeves are already 10 centimeters short.
46

I also ordered a table tennis set there. And I'll probably buy skis in the summer. I laugh, but it really worries me - what a winter I dream about them!

On the way back we met another neighbor, Olga. She is engaged in tennis and when she heard that we were walking from the park where we played tennis, she was terribly delighted, she said - oh, we'll arrange a duel!
47

the house is greeted like this.
48

We sort out purchases under a foggy lens. Spray paint because my daughter wants to tag. Tomorrow I will take her to our secret place on Vaska, where we sometimes burn a fire on the shore of the bay. There are concrete fences. Let's sweat.
49

The rackets took off again. I'm going to check the bread.
50

rose.. Oh, you can't open it - it will fall off.
OH, I forgot to put half of the ingredients - 5 eggs!
51

time 18.00
Baking bread.
52

For my daughter I turn on the playlist for gymnastics, I close the doors from noise.
53

I cook dinner quickly: I cut a salad and warm up yesterday's buckwheat and ready-made food bought in vkusville. Each portion is cut in half, into four plates.
54

sealing up the son's finger, which he injured while tearing the package of rackets. The glue disinfects and closes the cut so it doesn't sting every time you wash your hands.
55

We had supper. I take the bread out of the oven. Mdaaa, it is two times smaller than it should be. And the taste is different. But nonetheless, it's pretty good!
56

wash the dishes. After dinner, I rarely get to wash it. A.S. washes all week. when he comes home from work.
57

Time. Tired, wow.
I brew myself a half-liter mug of thyme. I ask if anyone wants tea.
58

and vitamin D
59

Children want tea from bowls. Before the New Year, I bought in Auchan and told the children all the subtleties of oriental tea drinking.
Now they like to keep track of who pours how much - with or without respect. I poured myself from a mug and it turned out without respect!
60

Framed card for my 40th birthday from my daughter. She and I are both fans of Loki, but when I saw Thor, I was sincerely delighted. It was sad to receive congratulations from one Loki.
61

Time to lie down. I take out a felting pillow from the closet.
62

I invite children to watch the cartoon
I myself look at Instagram. My Bulgarian girlfriend once again gave cool music to my playlist. Love.
63

Everyone expected that Andr would quickly take a shower and start watching the cartoon. And he got himself a bubble bath. Here, wait!
64

barely finished watching (great cartoon, they were laughing so much) when they were playing rackets again.
65

It's getting late. The bread is cold. I cut it and put it in the freezer.
66

I am the first.
67

Bath free!
68

pillow back in the closet
bed
69

something back asks to ride on the roller. I didn’t do exercises today - I immediately feel it. A bit of MFR..

Adele comes in and starts her last gymnastics for the day. I myself came up with the idea of measuring time with a playlist. It turns out to solve two problems at once. The second is to tune in to a calm wave and even out your breathing.
It's almost 11 am. Sleep..

Mom gave paints to her son to sit at home, and he stripped naked, painted himself blue and ran to play snowballs. The fat boy was tied to the bucket of a snowplow for everyone to see, and he took and unpacked. This is what, in Syracuse, New York, something else happened when the town was covered with snow. The school was closed, and the children began a magical time. Only two were not happy, and those adults: the local TV weatherman (Chase), who had to put on a snowman costume, and the perpetually cold snow blower (Elliot), who arrived on his monster to destroy all this magic. You sit, you freeze, suddenly - oops! -Iggy Pop out of nowhere as a DJ at the skating rink. Didn't spare the old man's life. And he didn't feel sorry for himself either. No more conclusions can be drawn from "Snow Day". Well, the joke is with them, with the conclusions. But this is the world's first film entirely about snow. Covered in snow, literally and figuratively. Starts from the perspective of a falling snowflake. The main villain is a snow blower. Our main weapon is snowballs. A rogue meteorologist is exposed by the fact that he does not know the chemical composition of the snow. There is something touching in all this.
