The Funny Oval Face

1. The Basic Shapes:

It is best to start with the very basic shapes, isolated from each other, so that your little one does not have to worry about coloring within the lines. Let them discover the joy of producing color on white paper with these shapes before moving on to actual, meaningful images made with shapes.

2. Shapes Butterfly:

If your child has been coloring isolated shapes for a couple of days, it is time to switch to something more meaningful or they would become uninterested. This is a great coloring page to start with because even though the shapes have a meaning; they are not too close, which will minimize color overlapping.

3. Face Made Of Shapes:

This picture consists of a lopsided man’s face with a hat and mouth made of rectangles, a nose made of a triangle and the eyes, face and ears made of circles. This colouring page is perfect for little kids who have had a little practice with shapes.

4. Shapes Castle:

Every little child dreams of becoming a prince or a princess and live in a castle. So coloring this picture of a castle, composed solely out of rectangles and triangles and trapezium is going to be very enjoyable and quite easy too.

If you are thinking of teaching your kid about shadows and how light affects the colors, this is a good start. These 3D images can be colored keeping the light source and its visual effect in mind. This picture is appropriate for slightly older kids. Also, make sure you child has practiced coloring 2D shapes before venturing in 3D shapes.

6. House At Night:

This image is that of a night-time scenery. So if your child wants to draw something interesting than mere shapes, this image is perfect as the level of difficulty of colouring is moderate. 9. Advanced Geometric Shapes:

This is for older kids who have been coloring for a long time. It is a complex pattern made of small curved lines and sections of circles. The spaces between the lines can be filled up with various colors to make a really interesting image.

In this picture we see a cat flying a kite in front of his house. The house is three tiered and has three roofs. There are many doors and windows which are made up of different shapes like squares and rectangles. There is a fence in the background.

Ask your child to find out the different shapes and spell it out loudly, so that he remembers them. He will especially enjoy coloring the cat and the kite. He will use his favorite shades to color this house and the kite, his imagination will make this page even more colorful. Pin up this page in his room so that he remembers the names of all the shapes. You can also ask him to label the names of the different shapes on the page. This coloring page can be effectively used as a learning tool. Since, innovative techniques make learning easier and fun at the same time.

15. Funny Oval Face:

It is not easy to explain the difference between circles and ovals to small children. This picture will help your child understand the difference between circles and ovals easily. Your child need not color the heart red; he can use his imagination to color the heart and the frills. You can show him how a beetle leaf looks like, so that the he understands the meaning of heart shape.

18. Diamond Shape:

How to Use These Free Printable Shape Cards

Use these free printable shape cards to teach 2-dimensional shapes. Directions include many ways to add texture to the cards to create a hands-on sensory learning activity. Kids can trace the textured shapes with their fingers or use them for tracing practice.

I learn best when I can feel, touch, or experience something….and many kids do too. Today, I have some printable shape cards for you and I will show you how you can add some texture to the shape cards. Kids can trace the textured shapes with their fingers to get some sensory input as they learn each shape.

Printable Shape Cards

I like to print the cards on brightly colored card stock. Once you have them printed, there are many ways that you can add textures to the shapes. Here are a few ideas.

Sand Shape Cards

To make sand textured shapes I added a line of glue to the outline of each shape. Then, I sprinkled some colored sand onto the wet glue and shook off the excess sand.

When the glue dried, I added a second line of glue on top of the sand. I could still feel the texture of the sand after applying the second layer of glue. The second layer just seemed to help the sand stick better.

Rhinestone Shape Cards

I found this “rhinestone” ribbon in the cake decorating section of my craft store. I easily cut it into single strips of rhinestones so that I could add a line of bling to a set of cards.

It was a little tricky to add the rhinestones to the curved shapes, but I liked the end result. I call them rock star shapes!

Glitter Glue Shape Cards

I don’t mind using glitter in a classroom, but I don’t really like to use it in my home. With glitter glue, however, I was able to get some bling on my cards without the glittery mess.

Additional Texture Ideas

In addition to the ideas pictured above, you could also add texture to the shapes with yarn, twine, ribbon, rubber bands, plastic grass, raffia, twigs, etc. See my article about tactile letter cards for even more ideas.

Shape Tracing Cards

You don’t want to add texture to your shape cards? No problem! You can laminate the little cards so that kids can practice making the shapes with a dry erase marker or crayon.

You can use the shape cards individually, but I like the idea of binding them together. In the examples in the picture below I used a hole punch and binder rings to create shape rings. For some of the books, I used a binding machine (my newest addiction) to bind some of the sets into little books.

I hope that you enjoy using these little shape cards. Use them as a simple math activity in your math center, as a take-home activity, or even in your class library.

A sketch of a human figure in painting is usually a full-length depiction of a human figure. At the same time, the sketch is still a small schematic image, which is performed quite quickly and excludes the detailed study of the elements.

Sketches of a human figure can be very different. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with their approximate classification, which is based on different principles of division.

The sketches of the human figure are as follows:

According to the drawing tool. Any means at hand are used as a drawing tool in sketches - from a pencil to sauce. But most often these are simple and colored pencils, blue and colored pens, felt-tip pens, ink, gouache and watercolor.
According to the drawing material. You can also make sketches on any material. There are no restrictions here. But, of course, paper is most often used, although it can be a disposable paper cup and a napkin. Also, sketches are drawn on the walls, boards, hands and beyond, whoever is in what much.
According to the basis used. We are talking about the image of a person from nature, from a photograph, from memory, from one's imagination, or with a combination of these elements.
By gender and age of the object. There are sketches of children, babies, teenagers, men, women, young and old people. Each of these groups has its own anatomical features that must be considered.
According to the type of depicted person. Separately allocate images in profile, full face and half-turn. Also, a person can be in clothes or without clothes. In addition, he can be in a calm state (sit, stand, lie) or be in dynamics (perform some action).
Image time. Sketches are very fast (one drawing takes only 5 to 15 minutes), medium in time (from 20 minutes to 40 hours) and long (up to 1 hour).

Human Figure Sketches - Drawing Technique

The sketch of the figure of a child, man or woman should be done freely and naturally. The essence of the whole technique of drawing this type of image lies in the lightness, freshness and looseness of the lines on paper.

Here the artist should not go into details of the image. The main thing is to fix on paper the general perception of the seen or conceived plot. A small amount of humor is also welcome in the sketches.

The general technique for drawing a sketch of a human figure consists of the following steps:

The compositional arrangement of the human figure on paper is determined.
The axes of body parts are plotted schematically with lines and their proportions are fixed on the sheet.
The anatomical features of a particular person are recorded.
A figure, clothes, accessories are drawn.
Black and white modeling of the image is in progress.

But! It is important to remember that the drawing should not be oversaturated with elements. The purpose of the sketch is to depict only the most important.
