On this page I have created a small (so far) collection of short stories in English with a parallel Russian translation. After all, this is what you need, right?

These are mostly simple and short English stories about various life and everyday situations that are suitable for those who have basic knowledge of English or already good knowledge at the elementary level and above. nine0003

Reading stories will help you:

• improve your vocabulary;
• learn to understand the structure of an English sentence;
• to see the system of English tenses "in action";
• catch good colloquial phrases and expressions; nine0024
• to develop the skill of intuitive translation of English texts.
• analyze previously learned English grammar rules on the go.
• in the end, develop your imagination by inventing your own endings of stories)).

How to read:

It all depends on your level of knowledge, but still I will give you general recommendations that will not interfere.

• First try to understand and translate the paragraph you read on your own. nine0024
• Then look at the translation and compare the English and Russian text.
• Mark important or difficult phrases and passages for yourself.
• Optionally, analyze the sentences in terms of grammar rules you are familiar with.
• Write down 3-5 phrases or words you like from the text. Don't forget to make suggestions with them or think of situations in which you could use them.
• After such a thorough analysis, read the text a couple more times, trying to use the Russian translation less and less. nine0024
• Optional: Make up questions for the characters in the stories and write them down.

Actually, there are 2 ways of reading:

1. read, translated and forgot;
2. I read it, sorted it out “by the bones” and left in my memory a lot of pleasant and useful things!
