My list of pleasures | PSYCHOLOGIES

52,768

Know Yourself

Listing your simple joys may seem like the simplest exercise. And when you start to do it, you can find that there are a lot of things and activities in the world that can give us pleasure. It is best to make your list in three stages. Write down the first thing that comes to mind first. Then, on reflection, leave what you often do in everyday life. And finally, compare the result with the list of another person, getting additional pleasure from the similarity or difference with him. If you do all this, you will surely see that this is a very useful exercise.

First, it evokes pleasurable sensations: the mere remembrance of what gives us pleasure causes positive emotions and enhances our ability to enjoy life. Secondly, it helps to pay attention to seemingly insignificant things, which at the same time can bring us great joy. “The purpose of the exercise is not just to find out that any action is enjoyable,” explains cognitive psychologist Sergei Kharitonov. “It is important to understand that the choice of these activities can tell us a lot about ourselves. ” This exercise should be repeated regularly: our tastes change, new life experiences appear, and, accordingly, new pleasures appear.

People who told us about their little joys love house flowers and flamenco dance, physical labor and the smell of wet stone... They have in common the ability to enjoy different manifestations of life and the ability to tell about it with pleasure: reading their words, one wants to experience those the same feelings and think about what we like to do ourselves. Yes, it's time to make your own list.

Anatoly Leirikh, businessman

Candidate of Economic Sciences, entrepreneur, member of the General Council of Delovaya Rossiya. Wrote the children's fairy tale "Two Boys" (Art Laboratory, 2006).

Create something with your own hands. Draw, sculpt, make something out of metal… By the way, this is how I met my wife: she liked the man I carved out of wood.

Have breakfast while looking outside. I live outside the city and love morning and breakfast very much. I always sit down so as to look into the garden.

Work physically. I feel best when I do manual labor. Once I worked 16 hours a day - in Nizhnevartovsk in the oil fields - and returned from there just like Hercules!

Get up early in the morning. When you get up at five o'clock, the body is still like a child: it has not had time to be afraid of waking up, and still does not understand what lies ahead. It gives me the right attitude.

Look at the fire in the fireplace. Time seems to stop, this process has no beginning and no end. Of course, the fire goes out, but at the moment of burning it is eternal - and this is hypnotizing.

Victoria Musvik, culturologist, art critic

Conducts an author's course on the development of creativity at the European Humanities University (Vilnius) and writes articles.

Take care of my flowers. Transplant, spray, water, inspect the leaves, germinate seeds, and then sit on the balcony in an armchair on a summer evening with a glass of wine in hand, admiring the flower garden.

Participate in family gatherings and holidays. I like to see how my features are reflected in the people around me, and to listen to the stories of elders about the past.

Talk to your best friend. When I am understood and accepted for who I am, I begin to better understand who I really am.

Chat with an interesting man. I am worried about slight uncertainty and mutual sympathy.

Wash small items by hand. Warm water soothes. It's kind of like meditation.

Anastasia Tikhonova, photo artist

Graduated from the Textile University and developed fabrics for body armor. Then she took up photography. Her photographic works designed the cover of Anna Rivelote's book Letters from My Friends and the cover of Wild Bird's debut album.

Listen to music while editing photos. Jazz gives my photos peace and tranquility. Sometimes I want a special sharpness - then I include something poignant, for example, the works of Piazzola. Often I name a photo after the song that I was listening to at the time of processing.

Walk around the city. Walking gives me courage and peace.

Communicate with clients. From a conversation about what a person wants to get as a result, about his attitude to photography and to himself in the photo, a frank conversation turns out. Probably, in some ways it is similar to psychotherapy: what happens in the picture changes something in a person.

Drink coffee. I am warmed by its taste, it gives me a feeling of comfort and warmth.

Dance. I love flamenco, latino and old rock and roll. Dancing, you feel healthy and beautiful person.

Mikhail Litinsky, medic

Developed a healing polyurethane foam coating for wounds. He is engaged in attracting investments and introducing new drugs in medicine.

Walk in the forest. I like to completely change the environment, merge with nature. Most often I leave for the Pskov province, I hunt or just go for a walk.

Ride a horse. When a big, strong animal trusts you, there is both pride in oneself and responsibility for it.

Feel the height and the wind. You can just stand on top of a mountain, over a cliff, when a strong wind hits your face - and this is an indescribable feeling.

Touch a woman. It gives me special pleasure to touch the delicate female skin with my lips. To the neck, wrists, elbows. This gives rise to a blissful feeling of togetherness. And just the sight of a beautiful female body gives rise to such sensations, this is one of the strongest pleasures.

Look at Dali's paintings. You can look at them endlessly: the more you look, the stronger this feeling of chill and tickling, which is born at the cervical vertebra and runs down.

Georgy Dolmazyan, director

Born in Armenia, studied to be a geologist. Stage director, musical director of the theater "MOST".

Waking up, look at the chandelier. I like to open my eyes in the morning and look at the chandelier, waiting for the light to come on. I know I'll turn it on myself, but being idle and waiting is a fantastic feeling.

Prepare food. I come up with a recipe for a future dish on the go and will never be able to repeat what I have already cooked.

Listen to the water. A thin stream from a tap, a powerful pressure from a shower, a mountain stream or the whole sea. This is perhaps the most beautiful sound of all that sound on earth.

Read old books. Through the lifetime editions of Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Berdyaev, I seem to be able to communicate with them. Such books are like a portal to the time when they were created for me.

Memorize smells. I can smell all the cities where I lived for at least two days. One day in the French city of Cherbourg, a downpour caught me. The smell of rain-wet stone... I went up to the houses (they are almost all made of stone) and sniffed them.

Galina Chernykh, teacher

Teaches Russian at the Moscow Lyceum No. 1535. In school performances, she played the Kabanikha from Ostrovsky, preparing for her debut as the pleasant lady from Gogol's Dead Souls.

Hold fine things in your hands. I remember I had a compact mp3 player - with a smooth and velvety surface at the same time. The very feel of it in my hand gave me pleasure.

Dance oriental dances. This gives me the opportunity to reveal my feminine essence.

Apply makeup. I think through everything to the smallest detail: makeup dictates my role for this day, helps me to get in the right mood.

Sing. It helps to think and calms.

Use purple ink. When I use a purple ink pen, I notice that the handwriting becomes calmer and smoother: this color calms me down. I noticed that I treat purple pens more carefully and lose them less often.

James Bond by Ian Fleming: How to write for pleasure and become a classic

0003

“Books are written for fame, pleasure or money. I write for fun and money”

Ian Fleming

Video of the Day

Books written for fame and money, if they are successful and popular, then for the sake of money, definitely do not stand on the shelves of the classics of popular literature. Without a bit of pleasure, but as a maximum - particles of one's own soul and creativity, the book is dead, like music, painting, poems and much more are dead.

Ian Fleming's Sold Manuscripts made him one of the most popular British writers. He himself said that “books are written for fame, pleasure or money. I write for pleasure and money." His works, if they are not examples of deep fiction, are definitely of high quality as popular literature.

When it comes to the James Bond books, you can mention the word "tasty": juicy descriptions, peppery and with a bit of hero admiration. Evil tongues do not exclude narcissism, because it was good for Fleming, with his indomitable temper, cheerful character and love of life, generously seasoned with aristocratic obstinacy, to live doing what he wants.

It is useless to retell Fleming's biography - so many fantasies, conjectures and legends around it could not have been wound up by MI6. Or not, they hardly worked so talentedly there. He was born with a “silver spoon in his mouth” into a very rich and high-ranking family, but did not follow the beaten path, managing not to finish his studies either at the most prestigious Eton (expelled due to “immoral behavior”), or at the no less respected Sandhurst Military College (expelled for voluntary withdrawal).

Worked as a reporter for Reuters - visiting the process of English spies in Moscow, then in the banking sector, where he became rich, or pretended to be rich. At least he led an appropriate lifestyle: beautiful women, cars, palaces and social events. Can a person be satisfied with such a life for a long time if he “doesn’t taste good?” And Fleming felt unpalatable with his indefatigable temperament and desire to live - to breathe another, dangerous, masculine life.

When the clouds of World War II were already gathering in the air, although it was still far from the first peals of thunder, Fleming turned on all conceivable and unthinkable connections, deciding to become a scout. And he became one - in the British Navy. Fleming spent all of World War II in intelligence, coordinated work with American allies, led the release of Norwegian prisoners of war from a floating prison, located secret German laboratories that manufacture V-rockets, and much, much more.

According to the legends that generously surrounded Fleming, he was involved in the flight of Rudolf Hess to Scotland, and took Martin Bormann out of Berlin. According to another legend, his reports were read at the Center, so original and exciting they were. Someone must have said something, or Fleming himself knew about his writing talent, but after the war he retired and went to Jamaica, buying a house there and deciding to retire. It was not there - a woman intervened in the matter.

While visiting London from time to time, he met the married lady Anne Rothermer. And he disappeared at first sight - like his James Bond and Vesper Lind, the heroes of the first Bond novel, Casino Royale. Seeking for his beloved and suffering, Fleming plunged headlong into the first Bond novel, which helped him to distract himself. It would be strange if such a man, without fear and reproach (although he will become like this a little later, there is still a hint of feelings in Casino Royale) could not help him.

Fleming, of course, did not refuse Lady Rothermer and won her. Upon learning that she was pregnant, Anna got a divorce from her husband and left with her lover for Jamaica. Having married, Fleming embarked on dangerous adventures only in his dreams - along with his hero James Bond.

There are many versions of who became the prototype of the hero, the main one is that this is a collective image endowed with both the features of the author and the legendary Sydney Reilly and Robert Bruce Lockhart, as well as Fleming's less known acquaintances in the spy field Wilfrid "Biffy" Dunderdale and Merlin Minshell . But everything is clear with the name: the hero became the full namesake of the ornithologist James Bond, whose book Birds of the West Indies was on Flemin's shelf. Which, by the way, annoyed the innocent scientist a lot.

Fleming was 45 when the first James Bond novel was published on April 3, 1953, with a total of 12 novels and 9 short stories. He spent the last 10 years of his life in an unusual capacity - at the zenith of fame. After the first unsuccessful film adaptation, in 1962 the film Dr. No was released, in which Sean Connery played the main role. This year has become the starting point of the real world "bondomania".

A total of 24 James Bond films have been released to date, based on the same pattern. Basically, the Bond movie template itself has become a cult classic, setting the standard for this kind of film production. A hero, a beautiful woman (preferably two, then one will die), an absolute villain, his collision, the world is in danger and in the last seconds he is saved. All attempts to bring a little “humanity” to the films in the form of a completely non-aristocratic Daniel Craig and some kind of moral torment are not noticed by the viewer and do not change the template - Bond remains Bond written by Fleming.
