Bird alphabet. Umnoteka children's portal Sun
A
Stork is known for generosity -
He brings children to mothers.
And a singer - such songs...
And a dancer from the very best.
Albatross soars over the sea,
proudly flies over the waves,
Argues with the wind, argues with the sea.
Doesn't know how to be submissive.
B
Cormorant is a dexterous fisherman,
He is a great fisherman.
On a long neck, a nose-hook,
Catch a fish - and in a bag.
Snipe lives in swamps,
Gets food from mud.
And somewhere in the reeds is a nest.
It's hard to see where it is.
The golden eagle is circling. With a keen eye
He sees a hare. Stone down.
He is a hunter, it's clear at once.
Do you want to live? Look out!
The petrel catches the storm,
Powerfully cuts the clouds.
Silence of sea blue
Hurricanes frighten.
B
The woodcock is barely visible,
His suit is the color of the grass.
Only the long nose sticks out.
Knot? Or a twig from the grass?
Long-tongued Bluethroat,
Knows many languages:
Bird song, someone's screams,
The sound of cars and the roar of horns.
Sparrow drooped in winter,
He is barely alive: "Chick-chirp."
And when the sun warmed up,
“Chick-chirp,” is already laughing.
A crow and a raven are two different birds,
They cannot be together. Never get along.
Let the black color not bother anyone,
They will never recognize themselves as relatives.
Vertisheyka like a woodpecker,
Only very small.
She has such a character:
She shouts to everyone in fright: “Remove!”
Bittern, like a bull, shouts angrily.
Densely hidden by reeds.
The bittern stretched its neck,
wants to be a reed.
D
Gaga will dive and disappear for a long time.
I want a fish. So you want it fresh.
But she lives little on earth,
She hatches her chicks and swims away.
The loon does not like to walk on the ground,
And she sleeps even in cold water.
Will only build a nest, but next to water,
Water is her home, her food pantry.
Jackdaw gallops along the road,
She has such legs.
Jumps straight, to the right, to the left
So easily and so skillfully.
Rook walks sedately in the garden, -
He wants to eat - that's the reason.
Whatever he finds, right into his mouth.
That's full. And no hassle.
The vulture does not like to hunt,
It is better to look for the dead.
It is not difficult to deceive him.
He is also a coward.
Capercaillie is not deaf. Capercaillie is not blind,
He hears everything, sees without problems.
But as soon as he begins to sing a song,
And immediately deaf and completely blind.
Gogol is a duck. Duck only
Builds nests on the ground.
Imagine for a moment,
has a nest in a hollow!
D
Drozd sings. And in this song
The voice of different birds is heard.
he is a famous mockingbird,
an amazing artist.
Bustard like an airplane
Jogging.
Run up and fly,
Important and slow.
Dubonos with a massive nose,
He is an expert at gnawing bones.
So easy, so fast, simple!
Who else can do that?
A woodpecker hammers a tree trunk
With a long, strong, thin nose.
He himself is full. Healthy tree -
He treats trees deftly.
E
Spruce loves the forest so much,
He eats seeds from cones.
Will eat some rascal
And throw a bump on the ground.
Eat whoever wants, there are enough cones!
So he feeds the forest brothers.
Each bird has its own food,
What is good only for her.
One has leaves, seeds,
Another meat must eat.
And this, really, is not a whim:
Each bird has its own life.
F
Lark from the sky
He sends greetings to everyone with a ringing song.
The sun, the sky, the forest and the field -
Everyone sings a happy share.
Zhelna is the largest woodpecker.
He is a friend to sick trees.
The barrel is hollow, but they are pleased.
He is a surgeon. But without hands.
Crane moves stilts,
Comes closer... closer... closer.
But the dancer is one of the best -
He will teach anyone to dance.
Z
Gem Kingfisher
As if dressed in silk.
Catches fish, drags children.
Here is a real parent!
The finch carries a song from the heart,
Likes to warm up in the song.
Builds a strong house for children,
So that it would not be scary in it.
And
Ibis remembers the pharaohs.
They are gone, but he is still alive.
He still lives in the same house,
Where before. Where the Nile is.
Oriole, like a cat, can meow
And, like a flute, it will play softly too.
The best singer! And he loves to swim:
So from the flight he cuts the water with his bright chest.
Y
Y sounds like an anguish,
Birds can't sing this sound.
This letter will close the syllable -
There is a deep meaning in this.
And without this letter, the word
seems to be completely unfamiliar.
K
Guillemots will arrange their market,
Many thousands - guillemots, guillemots.
But they habitually live in the sea.
Why? What's the secret?
Warbler so crackling,
Mosquitoes over her cloud.
Stuffs mouth with them.
How else does she sing?
The kinglet is very small,
Its weight is only five grams.
Will disperse in earnest
And will start snooping around everywhere.
The kite fumbles over the forest,
He is looking for his prey.
His interests are clear,
The people are only dissatisfied with the bird.
The cuckoo pours “cuckoo” around.
Counting? Sings? Or maybe sad?
Where are her children? All one on a bitch.
And what does she say with this “cuckoo”?
Kulik praises his swamp -
Where else can you find something like this?
Fat frogs, large flocks -
Catch and eat. You won't get lost!
Partridge wherever she wants,
Builds a warm snow house.
She will dive into the snow on a polar night,
And she will not care about frost.
L
Swallows under the roof
They mold a house out of mud.
Strong house came out,
The best in the world.
A white swan swims
Among the pure light waters.
Majestic, proud,
She arched her neck beautifully.
The forest horse sings, flies,
Dreams of meeting a girlfriend!
And meet - quiet and invisible.
All care will be left to the children.
Harrier flies over the ground
Slowly and smoothly.
Nothing that he himself is gray-haired,
But a glorious hunter.
M
Maina looks like a starling.
And eats pests too.
Somewhere she can help,
Somewhere they drive her away.
Marabu strides importantly,
Bald like any wise man.
Will not repeat twice.
Once said, and that's it, the end.
Moskovka brings aphids to children
And bark beetles, ants...
As soon as she feeds her children,
And the forest around is almost healthy.
Flycatcher catches flies
And eats larvae in the garden.
She has a good sense of smell -
I'll catch everyone, I'll find everything!
N
Nandu ostrich. The ostrich is large.
And he can't fly either.
But he runs as if
He can catch up with the car himself.
The tawny owl is a predator. During the day he sleeps.
Flies to hunt at night.
Flies silently, quickly, dexterously,
To catch and eat a vole.
Diving is inseparable from water.
Is it with water? Is there water with it?
If he wants to eat, he will dive deeper...
He will always find something to eat.
O
Bunting - a small bird,
Like a horse, eager for oats.
What will such a small thing eat?
And the horse doesn't want to quarrel.
Ogar swims like a duck,
Searches for food on the ground.
And brave in earnest.
How strong and how brave he is!
Eagle slowly in the air
Soars. He sees everything on earth.
When the eagle's cry is heard,
The language of all the living goes numb.
P
A handsome peacock, tail like a fan,
Who does not believe in his beauty?
His peacock is majestic,
This peacock walks slowly.
Chiffchaff jumps tirelessly through the trees,
Like a doctor, treats them, collects aphids.
Let the healthy apple tree grow, don't cry.
There is someone to carefully make friends with her.
The quail cries immodestly:
"Time to sleep! It's time to sleep!"
He does not sleep himself. It's enough for him
Putting others to bed.
The penguin lives among the snows,
Where is night, frost and thick ice.
Will lay an egg. And exactly on time
A daughter or a son will be born.
Nuthatch slides along the trunk,
Feet up, head down.
And he will create a house in the spring -
Not everyone will build such a house.
The parrot is brightly colored,
Can even talk.
Maybe someone as a gift
Would like to receive it?
Kestrel - almost like a falcon,
Only smaller - a falcon.
Near the house, not far away,
Catches a mouse in one throw.
R
Remez - a small builder,
A noble house built his own.
Long entrance - enter it,
Close the door behind you.
The golden plover walks clumsily,
But it flies fast, as all birds need.
In autumn it will set off on the road over the sea.
And in the spring he will return. Wait, soon!
Ryab grouse and spotted grouse,
Anyone can offend him.
In winter hides in a snowdrift
From enemies and from frost.
С
The secretary is a big bird,
A master of running fast.
Takes off only slowly -
Picks up speed for a long time.
Starlings are used to living in the garden.
The birdhouse is a modest gift to them.
All the insects they find,
To the kids in the house. And the garden is happy.
Osprey knows a lot about fish,
She is used to catching fish.
Will dive into the water
And take off. In the claws - prey.
Tits like to live with people.
Don't count it as work in winter:
Feed them a little,
And in summer they will save the garden.
The bullfinch sparkles with scarlet chest
In the branches of snow-covered trees.
He took out a rowan berry,
He pecked. Quiet. Fell asleep, probably...
An owl is a hunter, sees at night
And smartly catches rodents.
There was a rustle. Mouse? Exactly!
Where to get away from these owls?
Jay - an old thief,
Bird's nest known thief *.
That egg will deftly drag,
Then the chicks are in a hurry to steal.
* thief - thief
Nightingale - a famous singer,
At night, during the day - he always sings.
Will disturb the heart with a song.
If you need to sleep, it won't let you.
Magpie will not miss the news,
Ready to tell everyone.
Here she trumpeted everything before the deadline.
Loquacious, like ... a magpie itself.
Shrike - an evil robber,
Pecks so that oh-oh-oh!
He sings well. Only for birds
These songs make it hard to sleep.
The ostrich rushes quickly,
An ostrich on the run argues with the wind,
But it cannot fly at all.
The wings are barely visible.
Large beak. And the legs too.
The owl is almost a brother to the owl -
He is also happy with the prey,
Just as quickly, just as deftly
He catches a mouse - a vole.
T
Black grouse and huge.
And the grouse's outfit is inconspicuous, modest.
Like winter, a warm house will be built under the snow.
Frosts are not terrible, the hunter will not find.
Hatchet hatchet has been friendly with the sea since childhood,
Dives deep, the fish won't leave.
Will give a rebuff to anyone when it is needed,
The beak of an ax, like an ax, beats.
Wagtail, like a sister,
Helping everyone is a craftswoman:
Quickly runs around the beds,
Who harms them, will catch everyone.
W
Hoopoe flutters over the grass,
Crest proudly spreading his.
But don't try to catch him, -
Hoopoe smells so bad.
Ular will fly off the top in the morning,
Then he goes home all day.
Everything eats something. Not for a minute
He will not stop his way.

The pheasant, like your cock, is painted,
He is brave and terrible in a fight.
He will protect both honor and home,
Fighting spirit is always with him.
Owl - a thief, a chief robber,
And he can catch an owl.
Fly up silently, smoothly -
And the owl is a predator too.
Flamingo - a fabulous bird
On long legs with a long neck.
How can this bird not be proud -
The world is fascinated by this fairy.
Frigate hovering over the water surface
And the fish is waiting for a long, long time.
She will surface. He was immediately nearby,
grabbed her, and flew again.
X
Stilt - oh, he is long-legged,
No one in the water can compare with him.
Not looking for a ford, walking without roads -
Such an amazing bird.
Gull Gull,
With velvety head.
Always misses the water, -
There is food, there is a home.
C
Heron raises his leg,
Stands on the other leg.
All day as lifeless -
Dozing? Sleeping? Or not sleeping?
H
A seagull proudly cuts the air,
Soars near the shore.
The boundless expanse does not attract, -
Let the sea nearby make noise.
Hobby, like a nimble fighter,
Flutters in the sky, looking for a victim.
Would you like to come to breakfast? –
Moderate flight ardor, moderate.
You won't see lentils,
You don't even have to look.
Who offended her when,
If she hides again?
Chizh loves to sing. And how she sings!
And imitates many birds.
Chizh loves freedom. But
lives And in a cage, if they suddenly get caught.
Crested Grebe builds a floating house,
Children always swim.
And when you get bored in the nest,
Quickly into the water. There is food.
Ш
Shalashnik builds a solid house,
To live comfortably in it.
Then he will invite a female,
After all, it's so boring to live alone.
Avocet – a large sandpiper,
Long nose curved upwards.
Legs are like your stilts.
And a very short tail.
Щ
The goldfinch is handsome. But how grumpy.
But who wants to be friends with him?
Clever goldfinch. Such a bird!
He likes to fight with others.
A dandy, when he beckons a female,
And then he is no longer a dandy.
Then he will become inconspicuous:
There is a family - why be strict?
Shchur is noticeable in any forest,
He is wearing a crimson vest.
And here is the female in dirty yellow.
She, poor thing, is so embarrassed...
Pied bee-eaters, bright bee-eaters,
No gifts for beekeepers.
They love bees, bumblebees and wasps.
Pulling out the sting is not a question.
b, b
Hard sign and soft sign
Words change their meaning like!
Only birds on these signs
I haven't met anywhere yet.
S
Chick "Chick!" the gypsy shouts
And menacingly puts the letter Y.
Mute hisses so timidly -
And I writes very softly.
E
Emu is a bird. But
will not be able to fly at least a meter.
There are feathers on the hard skin,
Only there are almost no wings.
Yu
Yurok is beautiful and bright in spring,
Where did he get a chic tailcoat!
And in autumn - candles and stubs -
So he wore out his jacket.
I
The hawk is a hand-written handsome man,
He is from royalty.
Strength, courage, a look of envy,
Keen eye and fast flight.

Tales of the Blue Fairy - Fiction
It was a long time ago.
Cherry orchards were green, tender grass was barely breaking out of the ground, spring violets were blue in the thicket.
Everyone rejoiced, everyone rejoiced, but in Galina's hut there was sadness and tears.
Galya was crying.
Galya's mother was lying on a miserable bed, pale, with sunken cheeks, coughing and moaning softly.
Old women came, sprinkled holy water on Galya's mother's face, looked into her large, cloudy eyes, and said, shaking their heads:
- She'll die... She won't last until tomorrow...
Galya was crying. Mother was always so quiet and affectionate, she loved her daughter Galya. How can you not cry? There were only two of them in the world: mother and Galya - Galya and mother. And suddenly my mother dies...
Galya was crying.
A ray of sunshine went out outside the village, drowned in a bluish-crystal lake. There was a stronger smell of flowers, the first lilies of the valley from the forest, the birds shouted their greetings for the last time before night, and everything fell asleep, calmed down, fell silent until morning. A night star lit up in the sky, bright, elegant and beautiful. Galya sat at the window, looked at the star and recalled how she and her mother often sat in the evenings at the threshold of the hut and admired the stars. And my mother got worse and worse. She coughed more muffledly and breathed weaker.
And suddenly, in a gentle, quiet voice, she called Galya:
- My beloved child, sit down beside me, sit with me.
Galya ran away from the window, rushed to her mother's bed, wrapped her baby arms around her mother.
- I don't have long to live, my child, - said the mother. — Soon, very soon I will have to leave you, my beloved..
- No, mother, no! Galya exclaimed. “I won’t let you go, I won’t let you die!” And she hugged her mother even tighter.
The mother also hugged her daughter with trembling hands.
- Farewell, my beloved child! Farewell, my Galya! goodbye, dove. Do not forget your mother ... Remember: your mother loves you and will constantly look at you from the sky, child, and every kind, bright deed of yours will please her. I have nothing to leave you, daughter. There was only one treasure in my heart while I lived and breathed, and now I will give it to you, my daughter. This treasure is true, Galya. Always speak the truth, and you will always have light in your heart and clear in your soul! Always, always tell the truth, Galya! One only truth! Don't hide anything, don't lie about anything! Now goodbye.
And, having crossed her daughter with a trembling hand, the dying woman pressed her to her heart, touched the tender childish face with her hot lips, and fell silent forever.
Galya fell on the cold body of her mother, sobbed loudly and began to cover the hands of the deceased with kisses.
The old women came again, carried away the crying Galya to another hut, and themselves began to dress Galina's mother and put her in the coffin.
And Galya is sitting alone at this time, all in tears.
A star from the sky saw a crying girl, brightly shone through the window of an empty hut, as if wanting to console the orphan. Galya raised her tear-stained eyes to the sky, looked at the star, held out her hands to her and whispered in a broken voice:
- My mother is gone! My mom died! Come back, mom, come back! — and her heart was beating, torn to pieces.
Galya was crying.
Dawn. The sun rose over Galina's hut. A beautiful big bird landed on the roof.
- Who is crying there? the bird asked.
She asked, looked down at the window and saw a girl.
- Pretty girl! - said the bird, flapped its wings and found itself on the window near Gali. What are you crying about, girl? the bird turned to Galya and tapped its long beak on the windowsill.
Galya looked at the bird, saw its wide wings, long beak and kind, round eyes, and immediately feeling trust in the big bird, she told her, bursting into tears, all her grief. The bird took pity on the orphan and said to her:
- You are alone in the world, I am also alone. It is hard and sad for each of us to be alone, but together, together, it will be easier for us to endure longing. Get on my back, girl, and I will fly you off to such countries where there is eternal summer, where huge, impenetrable forests are full of fragrant flowers, where huge white flowers grow on the banks of the river and look into it, admiring their magnificent attire. I'll take you to where huge crocodiles swim out of the river and bask in the sun near the shore, and elephant giants go to the watering place in whole flocks. I'll take you to this fabulous land, girl. Do you want to fly with me?
Galya looked around with sad eyes: she was sorry to part with her white hut, and with cherry orchards, and with her native village. But then the girl remembered that her mother was no longer with her, and without her mother, the hut, and cherry orchards, and her native village, Gali, were not sweet for her ...
And, crying softly, she said to the bird Galya: me, big, kind bird, wherever you want. I'm ready to fly with you far, far away. Even to the end of the world!..
As soon as Galya had time to utter these words, she instantly found herself on the back of a bird, which immediately took off with her into the air.
It was dreadful to fly for the first time in Galya. Far below, people were scurrying about, looking like tiny insects from a height, huts and churches were white, whole cities and villages flashed by. The bird flew with dizzying speed, rising higher and higher. Soon no houses, no churches, no villages were visible...
Clouds were moving below, separating the bird and Galya from the earth, from the whole world. Clouds above and below, and everywhere...
Galya felt frightened, she closed her eyes and clung closer to the bird. And she only flapped her wings harder and rushed even faster, even higher, to the very sun ...
- Where are we? asked Galya, when the bird, with the speed of lightning, lowered her to the ground, right into the luxurious, wonderfully fragrant garden.
White flowers stretched in slender, beautiful rows along the sides of the alley, which led to a snow-white palace with columns and a huge terrace. On the terrace there were many, many people in colorful striped clothes, with swarthy faces, with bronzed bodies. In the middle of them sat a man with a red beard, with a white head wrapped in something, with bright lips and with such a formidable face that Galya trembled with fear at the mere glance of him.
Bronze people bowed to the ground to the terrible man and said:
- You are bright and powerful, you are wise and beautiful, you are great like no one else in the whole world!
And the tsar—because the bronze man with the terrible gaze was the tsar—stubbornly tossed his head, shook his fiery red beard, and answered sternly: that with a single twitch of an eyebrow, I can take your life.
And again the bronze people bowed to the ground and praised their king:
- You are bright and mighty, wise and beautiful!
And the king kept shaking his fiery beard and kept saying:
- No, you flatter me, because I am the king. I don't believe you.
Suddenly, at the very steps leading to the terrace, he saw a girl and a bird. I saw and was amazed indescribably where this girl could come from. A smile flickered across his face. It was as if he guessed something, as if he decided something suddenly. And, looking around at the courtiers, he said:
- So I'll ask her how much truth is in your words.
Then he turned to Galya and said, stroking his red beard: - Tell me, girl, is it true that I am bright and powerful, wise and beautiful?
And fixed his terrible, stern eyes on Galya. Galya wanted to answer the same thing that the bronze people said, so as not to anger the terrible king, but suddenly she remembered her mother's testament: to tell only the truth - and in a firm voice said:
- No, the king. You are not bright, because your face is gloomy and stern. I saw the sun, which is bright and powerful, so much heat and light comes from its one ray! I do not know if you are wise, but I know that the One who created you and your subjects is wiser than you. No, you are not beautiful, king: a person with such eyes cannot be beautiful; I see a meek, gentle sky, it is beautiful, not you . ..
As soon as Galya uttered the last word, the tsar's entourage rushed about in horror.
- She's crazy! She is sick! they shouted. What does she say to our master?
And they ran and darted like a flock of frightened birds. And the king himself frowned and became blacker than the night. Gali's words angered him. He was not accustomed to hearing such words and mistook her for insane.
- Take her! he ordered the servants. - Settle separately from everyone, and let my best doctors treat her. But do not allow her to communicate with people, so that they do not hear from her her crazy babble!
And as he said this, he waved his hand. The servants rushed to Galya and were ready to grab her, but at that moment the big bird flapped its wings, sat Galya on its back and in one minute was already several miles away from the white palace and the bronze people.
- Take me there, bird, - Galya whispered to her, - where people love the truth and listen to it.
And they flew, the bird and Galya flew in the other direction, to another country.
For a long time they rushed across the blue sky, among white cirrus clouds, looking for where they could go down. They went straight down to the meadow, surrounded by forest, impenetrable and dense. On the lawn, around the fires, sat large, broad-shouldered people. There were several thousand of them. Among them stood a young man taller, handsomer and slimmer than the others. All had arrows, bows, hatchets and spears behind their backs. They said to their leader, a slender youth, armed better and richer than others:
- Oh, great, brave leader! Your brother has gathered a large army and is coming against us. He says that half of this country is his, that this forest is his forest, that our dwellings should belong to his warriors, and that he is coming to take it all away from you, from us. But let him gather even more troops, we are not afraid of anything. Every bush in this forest is familiar to us. We will surround the forest and attack your brother, we will defeat his army, and we will bring him to you. You can kill him or make him your slave.
- Yes, I will make him my slave, because death is better than humiliation. Let him experience the last, to know the wrath of his brother! the young man said menacingly and waved his spear.
The warriors let out a wild cry and spun around the fire in a frenzied dance. And when they stopped, almost falling from fatigue, they suddenly saw a large bird with a girl on its back.
Galya was already standing in front of their young leader and speaking to the slender young leader:
- Boy, you're wrong! You should not fight with your brother, because your father, dying, bequeathed this land to you both in half. I know it. And I also know that you took half of your brother from him and drove him out of here. And if your brother comes here again, he has a right to it. And you are wrong, young leader. You have acted cruelly and dishonestly!
The young leader listened to Galya, and the further she spoke, the bolder her speech became, the more the wild warrior trembled. Fear and reverence were reflected in his face by the end of Galina's speech. He fell at the girl's feet and, striking his chest, cried out in a terrible voice:0003
- Oh my warriors! My brave warriors! Fall down! The Great Spirit Himself sends us this child! The Great Spirit Himself speaks through her mouth! She sees my heart and knows my thoughts. He sees the whole truth and fearlessly expresses it to me, your mighty leader. No one has dared to tell me the truth until now. It means that the Great Spirit himself sends the child to earth! She is the ambassador of the Great Spirit! Here, to me, priests and soothsayers! Praise the girl, take her to our temple, seat her on the throne of the first priest, light incense in front of her and serve in her honor, in honor of the messenger of truth! And I and my warriors bow to her to the ground!
And the young leader fell to his knees. Behind him fell and all his warriors. Grey-bearded old men came out of the dense forest. They hit huge shells and made strange, incomprehensible sounds with them.
The gray-bearded elders approached Galya and, bowing to the ground, said to her:
- O bright messenger of the Great Spirit! Come with us to our temple. There is your place. Day and night you will live in the temple, and a blue smoke in your honor will rush from our censers with an incense stream, we will sing sacred songs to you and decorate you with flowers. You will be the queen of our temple.
And they carefully took Galya by the arms and wanted to take her to the dense forest, where their temple was hiding among the trees. Horror and fear filled Galya's heart at once.
- Where is the truth? she cried in a trembling voice. - When people bow to a person and consider him a deity? Where is the truth, if the truthful word here is so wild that the simple, little girl who said this word was mistaken for the messenger of God? No, I don't want honors or glory. Here, to me, big bird, take me away, take me away from here!
And the big bird is already there: it spread its wings, picked up Galya and rushed her back into the sky, high, high, leaving the horrified warriors and priests.
And again the big bird and Galya rush between the sun and the clouds.
Finally we got tired and went down to the ground. They hear marvelous music, cheerful laughter and jokes. Joy is felt in sonorous voices.
- Carry me there, bird, from where you can hear music and voices, - Galya asked.
A minute later they saw a luxurious, brightly lit castle on the lake. The whole castle hung above the water, standing on a high rock hanging over a dark and turbulent lake.
Lights, music, fun in the castle.
Luxuriously dressed gentlemen, even more elegant beauties ladies, all this moves in a smooth and beautiful dance. Brocade, gold and precious stones - everything is mixed up, everything burns, glitters and sparkles no less than the lights of the crystal chandeliers suspended from the ceiling of the hall.
In front of everyone, the queen herself, the owner of this castle and the whole country, into which Galya flew with her bird, stands hand in hand with a beautiful and elegant knight.
Oh, how pretty the queen is! Her eyes are dark blue, like the water in that lake that rustles under the windows of the castle, and they shine like that precious diadem that burns, shimmers with diamonds and yahonts on her blond curls. And the queen's face is just like a child's: quiet, meek, serene,
“What an affectionate, what a sweet queen! Galya thought. “It’s true, truth lives in her country, it’s true, she loves the truth, and all the subjects of such a good queen live well!”
No sooner had the girl thought this than, through the noise of the music and the merry laughter of the dancers, some kind of muffled, quiet moan was barely audible to her.
Galya shuddered and became alert.
The groan was repeated. He rushed from the green thicket of the garden, hidden by the darkness of the night.
- Let's fly there, dear bird, find out who is moaning! Galya whispered excitedly.
And they rushed from the castle flooded with lights into the dark garden, into the darkness of the night.
The groan became more and more audible as Galya and her bird went deeper into the thicket of the garden. The pale sickle of the moon peeped out from behind the clouds and lit up the tiny clearing. There, by the trunk of a large tree, stood a young girl with a pale, haggard face. Her arms and legs were tightly bound with thick ropes that fastened her to a tree. Her face bore traces of severe suffering.
- What's wrong with you? Who tied you here? And why are you moaning? Galya asked the girl.
- I am the servant of the beautiful queen, - the girl whispered in a voice barely audible from weakness, - of that beautiful queen who dances and has fun there, in the castle. She ordered me to be tied to a tree and starved to death, because three days ago I dared to tell her that the knight she had chosen as her suitor did not love her and wanted to marry her only to become king. I know it. This is true. And for these words of truth, I must die of starvation.
After saying this, the girl groaned softly and plaintively.
Galya trembled all over with excitement.
- Hurry! Hurry, my bird, let's hurry to the castle, - she spoke, - let's hurry to the queen, before it's too late to free the unfortunate girl and save her from a fierce death!
And faster than the wind they rushed to the castle.
It was as if the thunder of heaven struck over the dancers, they were so stunned by the appearance of a little girl and a big bird in the middle of the hall. The music has stopped. The couple stopped. In one minute, Galya found herself in front of the beautiful queen.
- Queen! said the girl in a trembling voice. “Listen to me: here you are dancing and having fun, and there, in the garden, your maid is dying. It's not good, queen! After all, your maid told the truth. You cannot be merry when you do evil to your neighbor. Order the release of the unfortunate girl, and then let the music play again, the couples dance and the cheerful laughter of your guests sounds, queen! That mistress is not good, who so severely punishes for a truthful word.
Having finished her speech, Galya looked at the queen, and she died of horror. What happened suddenly to the beautiful queen? Her eyes turned black and round at once, like those of a raven, her face turned green and twisted, her lips twisted, and her whole body suddenly became repulsive and ugly.
- Insignificant, pathetic girl! the queen shouted at Galya, stamping her feet. How dare you criticize me! For this you must die immediately!
And immediately ordered the guards to throw Galya into the lake. The guards carried out the order of their queen, grabbed Galya, dragged her to the window and threw her down, right to where the dark waters of a large lake roared dully.
Fell into lake Galya, plunged into cold waves and sank dead to the very bottom. And, probably, she would have become the prey of young laughing mermaids, if a big, faithful bird had not rushed after her and pulled the little drowned woman out of the water.
A big bird seized the dead Galya in its strong beak and quickly rose with her from the earth and the lake high, high to the sky. And there they were already waiting for Galya. Beautiful white creatures were waiting for her, boys and girls with silver wings on their backs. They saw a bird with a dead girl in its beak, picked up Galya in their arms and carried it to heaven.
The path of the little winged creatures was short.
Suddenly wonderful music was heard. An invisible choir sang a wonderful, sweet song.
The winged children brought Galya to the luxurious heavenly garden, laid her on a fragrant clearing, completely covered with fragrant leaves and roses, and, standing around her, sang in sonorous beautiful voices, which only angels can have:
- Wake up, wake up, dear Galya ! You fell into the realm of truth, one truth, pure and beautiful, which you will not find on earth! Wake up, dear, little Galya!
But Galya did not hear the singing of angels, did not feel the fragrance of flowers. Then, without ceasing to sing, the winged children flew high above the clouds and a minute later returned again, leading by the hand a tall woman in white clothes, meek and beautiful, like a dove.
