Is your mama a llama? “Is your mama a llama?” I asked my friend Dave. “No, she is not,” is the answer Dave gave. “She hangs by her feet, and she lives in a cave. I do not believe that’s how llamas behave.” “Oh,” I said. “You are right about that. I think that your mama sounds more like a... Bat!” “Is your mama a llama?” I asked my friend Fred. “No, she is not,” is what Freddy said. “She has a long neck and white feathers and wings. I don’t think a llama has all of those things.” “Oh,” I said. “You don’t need to go on. I think that your mama must be a... Swan!” “Is your mama a llama?” I asked my friend Jane. “No, she is not,” Jane politely explained. “She grazes on grass, and she likes to say, ‘Moo!’ I don’t think that is what a llama would do.” “Oh,” I said. “I understand, now. I think that your mama must be a... Cow!” “Is your mama a llama?” I asked my friend Clyde. “No, she is not,” is how Clyde replied. “She’s got flippers and whiskers and eats fish all day... I do not think llamas act quite in that way.” “Oh,” I said. “I’m beginning to feel that your mama must really be a... Seal!” “Is your mama a llama?” I asked my friend Rhonda. “No, she is not,” is how Rhonda responded. “She’s got big hind legs and a pocket for me... So I don’t think a llama is what she could be.” “Oh,” I said. “That is certainly true. I think that your mama’s a... Kangaroo!” “Is your mama a llama?” I asked my friend Llyn. “Oh, Lloyd, don’t be silly!” Llyn said with a grin. “My mama has big ears, long lashes, and fur... And you, of all people, should know about her! Our mamas belong to the same herd, and you know all about llamas, ’cause you are one, too!” “Yes, you are right,” I said to my friend. “My mama’s a... Llama!” And this is... THE END

Is Your Mama A Llama?

By: Deborah Guarino

Summary:

Lloyd the baby llama asks different animals if their Mama is a llama. He asks duck, cow, and seal. They give him hints of what their mom looks like. The hints help him see that their mom is not his mom. In the end he does find his mama llama.

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

This is an easy, fun book to share. It is an entertaining way to teach kids about animals. It is a loving story, with fun rhymes and illustrations. It also exposes kids to new animals.

Content Awareness Factors:

None.

Little Kid Reaction

Family 1: My daughter liked that the llama talked to all the different animals. She said they were cute, and she liked how each animal described what their mother looked like. She especially liked when he found his mother.

Parent Reaction

Family 1: I was surprised she liked it but was glad when she smiled and was happy when he finally finds his mother. I enjoyed that the llama asking the questions helped my daughter learn about other animals without realizing it.

Little Kid Reaction

Family 2: My sons enjoyed trying to guess what the animal’s mother was. My 3-year old is very into animals, so this was a natural book for him to love. This was probably his favorite one in the stack.

Parent Reaction

Family 2: Yes, I loved this book. The rhyming is fun, and is a great way to introduce the FUN and PLEASURE of reading to small children. I love that some of the animals are not “standard” first children’s book animals (cat, dog, horse, cow, chicken), so my children were exposed to some new (but not too obscure) animals. And I SOOO appreciate that they showed a very loving relationship between mother and young, which reinforces my own relationship with my children – a very safe and loving book to read to tender-hearted little people! I could tell from the colorful illustrations and fun words that my sons would love it. I was a little surprised (delightfully!) that my sons loved it SOOO much and wanted to read it again and again, and I was surprised at how much my older son (age 5) was into it – it was a small board book, and not very long, but I found he LOVED the excitement of figuring out what the animal was before I turned the page and revealed the word.

Type of Book:
This is a rhyming picture book for toddlers through kindergartners.

Educational Themes:

This is a book for introducing animals, and it lets you show how babies don't always look like their parent. (i.e. cygnets have different coloring than swans)

Reading Level:
0.7

Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
5 to 7

Recommended Age To Read Together:
1 to 4

Age of child:
Read with a 5-year-old girl (family 1). Also read with two boys, ages 3 and 5 (family 2).

Purchase Recommendation:
Buy. This is a fun book to share, and libraries should definitely have this book. Family 2 adds: It is a wonderful book that I would recommend as a first book for young toddlers or even babies.

How "Mama Lama" reached 3.

3 million moms on TV and 4 million on digital: case study by Ehrmann and Initiative digital to support the Mama Lama brand. In the spring of 2020, Ehrmann launched the Mama Lama fermented milk product for children from the Epica brand. As part of the launch, the communication strategy "The World of Good Habits" was developed. This concept formed the basis of a campaign launched in the fall of 2020 to support the new brand.

"Mama Lama" on TNT

The agencies were faced with the task of building knowledge about the brand in general and the product line in particular, building the brand's image and loyalty to it, and engaging the relevant target audience.

The central part of the project was the integration of the Mama Lama brand into the first family show on TNT with Dmitry Shepelev, You Are Like Me. This is a bright hour-long competition between two star families. Famous parents such as Alexey Shcherbakov, Basta, Azamat Musagaliev, Gavriil Gordeev and Ilya Sobolev, for the first time in the history of TNT, appear on the air with their children.

Together with the TNT team, the integration of the “Mama Lama” brand was implemented throughout the entire show “You Are Like Me” — there were announcements with branding from the host, sponsored splash screens and specially filmed sketches with children on the topic of good habits, as well as a pop-up in the most opportune moments of the virtual Mama Lama show. Sketches with children were filmed on the set of the program in order to preserve the uniform style of the show. In each of the four sketches, one or another good habit was played out.

The IPG Hi!Light team:

We've targeted a competitive family entertainment show that is popular with both kids and millennial parents, a brand-relevant audience. There is some continuity in this story with the Epica brand, which for a long time was a partner of the Dancing on TNT entertainment program.

Digital promotion

The campaign was supported by digital activations through the TNT channel ecosystem. The project was announced on the TNT website with branding, banner advertising, stickers with an extender, etc., as well as on the TNT Instagram account. On TV, screensavers with QR codes are used, by scanning which users get into the Instagram account of "Mom Lama".

Based on the content of the show, three contests were launched on Mama Lama's Instagram account with a raffle for merch and a subscription to TNT Premier to further support the campaign. Each competition was announced on the website and in the channel's social media accounts, as well as on-air QR codes leading to the profile of "Mama Lama". The first mechanic literally revealed the name of the show “You Are Like Me” — parents posted collages of their childhood photos and pictures of their child in stories, comparing family resemblances. 9View this post on Instagram .

The final activation ended the series of contests on a dance note — parents and children posted their dances to their favorite music, also tagging the brand account.

Each contest lasted two weeks and was supported by bloggers. 22 well-known insta-moms demonstrated the performance of competitive tasks by their example. Between activations in the Mama Lama account, quizzes were held on the knowledge of the content of the show episodes for additional involvement of users who came to the account from TNT sites.

Results

The TV part of the project covered 3.3 million mothers with children aged 2 to 6. During the month of the campaign, 43,000 QR codes were scanned on air. The digital part covered more than 4 million users, the average CTR of the announced contest formats reached 3.5%.

During the period of the first contest, 1365 users signed up for the Mama Lama account, and 395 people participated in the activation. Over 500 thousand users were covered by bloggers. 109 people entered the second contest, the influencer reach was 544,137, the number of subscribers grew by 1591. The third contest had 157 people, the reach was 5265.

Use media power to say “Mama Lama exists!” - half task; the other half of the task is to remain “Mama Lama” for people after that, and not just another children's brand, Setters said.

Setters team:

We deliberately chose not the easiest tasks for the contests. It may be more difficult to find old photos than to tag a friend, but the former will cause much more emotions. In addition, none of the tasks could be completed alone: both children and parents had to participate. This did not become a hindrance, on the contrary, increased people's interest in the brand, and at the same time strengthened the connection with the TV show "You Are Like Me".

Result: a positive response to integration from bloggers, positive reactions in the account and, of course, UGC from participants.
