The role of Peter I in history.

Worksheet - Anniversary Lesson Project

The Russian Tsar Peter the Great of the Romanov dynasty is called Peter the Great all over the world. Let us recall the era of this ruler, his personality and state affairs.

1. Read the text about Peter I. Choose the main dates of his life and activities. Record these dates on the timeline.

In the family of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov and Tsarina Natalya Kirillovna Naryshkina 9June 1672 son Peter was born. He spent his youth in the village of Preobrazhensky near Moscow. The future emperor was fond of military affairs from early childhood. When he was 16 years old ( 1688 ), he began to learn how to build ships on Lake Pereslavl. In 1697 , as part of the "Great Embassy", he went to Europe to negotiate friendship and military assistance with other countries. Under Peter I, as a result of the Azov campaigns (1695–1696) Russia conquered the shores of the Sea of Azov. After the victory in the Northern War (1700–1721) our country received access to the Baltic Sea, which made it possible to communicate directly with Western states. And as a result of the Persian campaign (1722–1723) , the western coast of the Caspian Sea, as well as the cities of Derbent and Baku, were recaptured. In 1703 , a fortress was laid at the mouth of the Neva River, the plan of which was drawn by the tsar himself. In 1721 Peter I assumed the title of Emperor of All Russia. In 1725 he died due to illness.

2. Peter I understood that Russia needed educated people. He himself constantly studied - he mastered many crafts - and forced others to learn. Read the description of some specialties. For each of them, select the appropriate number.

In 1718, the first library was located in Kikin's chambers. Readers were given books from the collection.
In the Urals, metallurgical plants were opened - suppliers of iron, anchors and guns for the fleet, and on the shores of Lake Onega - an arms factory.
Schools of different levels were founded: the school of mathematical and navigational sciences, Pushkar, engineering, artillery, medical.
Peter I forbade noble people to wear a beard and Russian dress.
In 1725 the Academy celebrated its creation with a large assembly.

4. The library of the Russian Academy of Sciences contains books from the personal collection of Peter I. Examine fragments of images, find out the range of interests of the tsar and exclude unnecessary items from the list.
