Dump Truck Craft Instructions
Step 1: Cut Up the Paper Plate for Your Dump Truck Pattern
- Using the picture below, cut a paper plate into pieces so that you have the body of your dump truck and the truck bed. *Note that we are working with the plate bottom side up.
- Once you have cut the paper plate apart as pictured below, set aside the 2 main pieces of the dump truck.
Step 2: Paint It
- Lay out the pieces of the dump truck on a pieces of newspaper, bottom side up.
- Choose paint colors for your dump truck craft and squeeze some out onto the newspaper.
- Pinch the pomom with a clothespin to form a “paint brush”.
- Paint the pieces of your truck and give them some time to dry while you move on to the next step.
*If you really do not want to mess with getting out the paints, then just color your truck pieces using crayons or markers instead.
STEP 2Step 3: Use the Dump Truck Craft Template
- Print the dump truck template.
- Use it to cut out the pieces of your construction truck craft, including 2 wheels, 2 wheel centers, a window and the truck grill.
Step 4: Add Details to Your Dump Truck Craft
- Now that your paint has dried, use the glue stick to attach the trucks wheels, window and grill.
- Then use the markers to add details to your dump truck as desired.
Step 5: Add the Truck Bucket
- As a final step, use the hole punch to place a hole where the truck and truck bucket will be attached on the very back end of the truck.
- Attach the two pieces together using a metal brad. Put it through the hole and separate the tongs to secure it in place.
Now that you know how to make this dump truck craft, use this simple construction vehicle toy to make up stories and create a play opportunity. I think that we need to make more construction toys to go with this dump truck craft. What should we make next?

Dump Truck Craft - Super Simple
Vroom vroom! There are lots of busy construction vehicles at the construction site! The dump truck is an important construction truck that moves heavy material like dirt, gravel and sand from one place to another. When it gets to where it needs to go, the back of the dump truck tilts backwards and dumps everything out! Make your very own dump truck that can dump construction material with our dump truck craft! As you put your dump truck together, you’ll learn about the different parts of this special construction vehicle. Vroom vroom! Once you finish, try making our excavator craft to help out around the construction site.
Things you’ll need
- Construction paper in a few different colors. We used yellow, black and blue.
- Tape
- Marker
- Glue stick
- Round head fasteners
- Hole punch
- Ruler
- Bottle cap or something circular to trace to make the wheels. Ours was 2” wide.
- White colored pencil crayon – to trace onto the black paper
We’ll be making these parts of the dump truck:
- Chassis
- Wheels
- Dump box
- Cab
Make the chassis and wheels of your truck
The chassis is the bottom part of the truck that houses the wheels and connects all the truck parts together. To make the chassis, use a ruler and draw a long rectangular shape on black construction paper. Our chassis is about a 10” by 2” rectangle. Use something circular like a bottle cap and trace three circles onto black on construction paper for the wheels. Our wheels were 2” wide.
Make the dump box
The dump box holds materials like dirt, sand and gravel, it’s a very important part of the dump truck! To make the dump box, draw a large rectangular shape onto a yellow piece of construction paper. Our dump box was about 4” by 8”. Make sure your dump box will fit on your chassis and that your chassis still has enough room for the rest of the dump truck! At the back of the dump box draw a slightly angled line with a lip at the top. This is where the door opens when the dump box rises and dumps everything out! You can draw a small square on your yellow paper to be a window for the cab part of the truck.
Make the cab
The cab is where the driver sits, and the engine and hood are at the front of the cab. You can make your cab be any color you like! We used blue. To make the cab, draw a square onto your construction paper. We made ours 4” by 4”. Then divide your square into four small squares, and cut away one quarter from the square to make the cab shape. Round off the corners to make smooth corners.
Get ready to cut out all of the shapes! Use your scissors and cut them out.
Now it’s time to assemble all the pieces of your dump truck! Using your glue stick, glue the cab onto the chassis and then glue on the wheels. Glue one wheel under the cab and two more at the back – they will be under the dump box. Glue on your square window onto the cab so your driver can look out!
Position and place your dump box onto the chassis, then at the back of the dump box, make a hole with a hole punch that goes through both the dump box and the chassis. Connect the two pieces with a round head fastener so the dump box can tilt backwards and dump things out!
Now you can make some material for the dump truck to move and dump out. Draw and cut some dumping material like dirt, gravel, or sand.
Turn your dump truck over, and on the back of the dump box, make a pocket to hold your dumping material. Cut out a rectangle from construction paper and attach it to the dump box using a piece of tape on both sides. Don’t make the pocket too deep, otherwise the material won’t slide out easily.
Your dump truck is ready to move move move and help out all over your construction site!

Environmental pollution is one of the most urgent problems
modern society.
The solution to this problem
needs to be done as quickly as possible
, and you should start with yourself.
On a family scale, we can
produce less waste,
for this, environmentalists are advised to avoid
disposable and short-lived goods
, use reusable
dishes and canvas bags, and not
buy unnecessary things.
Another way is to reuse
things that have served their time.
Unnecessary things can get a second life if you try
to see something unusual in them, you just need to dream up, turn on your
imagination.
When working with waste material,
certain requirements must be observed:
material must be safe for children (non-toxic, not
sharp),
thoroughly washed and dried,
accessible to processing (easy to cut, pierce,
stick together),
not cause feeling of disgust in children.
Toys are intended for use in everyday life, and
an important point in their manufacture is the strength of the structure.
Therefore, some operations requiring effort with
the use of dangerous tools, adults must take on
themselves.
DUMP.
For the manufacture of
dump truck, we need
:
two boxes from

“How to develop the speech of younger preschoolers? | Consultation (younger group):
Consultation for parents
“How to develop the speech of younger preschoolers?
Happy parents usually look forward to when their baby utters the first word, and soon will delight all relatives by reciting poems at the holidays and telling them about his successes. However, many children of younger preschool age are stubbornly silent, as if taking water in their mouths. Mom and dad are thinking: how to activate the development of the child's speech?
Children's speech begins to form from the first moments of life. In order for speech development to occur harmoniously and evenly, parents need to become active participants in this process. The development of the baby's speech is facilitated by the daily joint work of parents and children.
The successful speech development of young children depends on certain conditions:
• whether the speech apparatus has a normal structure
• how actively the baby is involved in communication with parents
• Whether the fine motor skills of the child's hands are developing.
The formation of a child's speech occurs, first of all, in the presence of active communication with him. It matters how exactly you explain to the baby the names of objects, phenomena and actions; how the child learns about objects.
In 3-4-year-olds speech develops rather quickly. Usually, by the age of three, a child practically learns his native language. The vocabulary of three-year-olds is growing every day: up to 100 new words come into their use per month. A four-year-old child already has a vocabulary of about 2,000 words. In children of this age, the sound design of words becomes better, phrases sound more detailed.
It should be noted that not all children develop in the same way. Some children have some lag in speech: they speak indistinctly, words and individual sounds are pronounced incorrectly. Children often shorten words, skip and rearrange sounds and syllables. The speech of three-year-old children is of the same type and simple. However, even at such an early age, children show interest in words.
It happens that the time has come for the baby to speak, but this does not happen? What to do? We recommend using special techniques for the development of speech and methods of activating speech:
1. "I'm talking to myself." When you are with your baby but busy with your own business, say out loud what you are doing. It will be such a passive communication with the baby. Speak slowly, but clearly, in short sentences.
2. Parallel conversation. Now you describe what the child does, what he sees and hears, what he can feel, what he touches. So you tell the baby the right words.
3. "I don't understand you." This method is a provocation. It lies in the fact that the adult ignores the indistinct sounds of the child and does not rush to help. At the child's guessing request to get him a toy, give him the wrong one and specify which one: a cube, a car, a bear? So you will encourage him to speech activity.
4. “Expanding”. Whatever the baby says, repeat and expand. For example, the baby will say "porridge". You: “Delicious porridge, sweet. Take a spoon, eat porridge." By answering the baby with common sentences, describing in detail the actions, repeating, you will create fertile ground for mastering coherent speech.
5. "Sentencing". Folk songs, nursery rhymes, proverbs and sayings bring great joy to kids. So younger preschoolers catch the rhythm of speech, listen to the sounds and words, gradually realizing the meaning of what was said. A huge number of oral folk works have also been created for the development of children's motor activity, which is directly related to speech development. Imagery helps to remember words and encourage speaking.
6. “His choice.” Allowing the child to make his own choice is directly related to the activation of his speech: “Would you like to pour a whole glass of compote or half?”, “Shall we go for a walk or stay at home?”, “Will you play with a car or a train?”.
7. "We are engaged in creativity." When a child can study a large number of different materials, it is very good for the development of various areas: tactile sensations, creativity, fine motor skills of hands and, of course, speech. Do not be afraid to let him study various materials, try to create crafts from them together, pronounce all your actions. Drawing, modeling and appliqué can easily be turned into a speech development lesson by starting to compose a story-description of the resulting “masterpiece” together with the child.
8. "Imitation". Play games with your baby more often where you can imagine yourself in the form of some object and figure out what this object can do. Already at the age of three, the child will be able to imagine himself as a car, a bird or an airplane, and will happily try to describe everything that can happen with his parents.
9. "Role-playing games". Teach your child to perform elementary role-playing actions. For example, playing on the phone when the child pretends to call fairy-tale characters. Such a game will help stimulate the speech and communication skills of the baby, the formation of his self-confidence, fantasy.
10. "Musical games". You can activate the baby’s speech by inviting him to participate in musical games, sing along and dance. Younger preschoolers are delighted with folk games or children's songs, the words of which they begin to repeat
Walking and talking.
You can develop the speech of younger preschoolers on walks. Such "classes" are very natural, bring a lot of impressions to the kids, contribute to the knowledge of the world. Walking, the baby will begin to ask a lot of questions, many of which encourage a thought process, require the expression of emotions and thoughts with the help of words. So the child learns new words and concepts that will soon become mandatory in his everyday speech. Do not be afraid that the child will not understand you. In these precious moments of communication, the baby listens and learns to perceive his native speech.
So, how to develop a child's speech while walking?
For example: At the playground. The sand in the sandbox is yellow, light, white or dirty. Try to diversify your speech by using synonyms: wet sand can be called wet, damp; teach your child to compare and analyze: in the morning the sand was wet from dew (after rain), and in the afternoon it dried up under the bright sun.
