How to read the auction sheet - Japan Star

Auction sheet

Any Japanese auction cannot do without the most important document for it - the auction sheet. It contains a detailed description of the condition of the car, its configuration and installed options, as well as an auction estimate.

At first glance, it may seem that you can write false information in the auction house, but this is absolutely not the case. After the expert has carried out the obligatory pre-auction check of the car, he carefully and with great care fills in the auction sheet for it. It is very easy to explain such extreme accuracy - if an overestimation is suspected, then the reputation of the auction will be severely undermined, up to the deprivation of its license, and the expert who conducted the inspection will be fired with a bang. Sometimes there is even a reverse practice - an underestimation for the purpose of insurance and in order to avoid controversial situations. This doesn't happen often, but it's worth being aware of. nine0005

Why was this document created? Everything is extremely simple - every day tens of thousands of cars are traded at auctions, and the dealer is simply not able to inspect each of them. So this paper turns out to be an indispensable tool when choosing a car, and therefore it is especially important to know how to read the auction sheet.

Auction sheet interpretation Deciphering the records in a document is not difficult if you know some of its basic features.

The lot number and the most detailed data about the car are always written - starting from the mileage, its history and the year of the first registration, and ending with the list of installed additional equipment and indicating the color of the body and interior. nine0005

As noted earlier, when the expert has finished checking the car, he evaluates its condition. Typically, five-point and six-point scoring systems are used. One corresponds to a car in terrible condition, possibly after an accident or "drowned", while a five-six is a practically new or new car with minimal mileage. Zero and the letters R and A usually indicate that the car has undergone major repairs with the replacement of parts or intervention in the body structure. The symbol ***, on the other hand, speaks of a broken and not recovering car after an accident, which, most likely, is no longer on the move. Such machines are usually bought "for spare parts". But in any case, it is always important to remember that the valuation systems of different auction houses can be very different. nine0005

This, of course, is not all designations in the auction sheet. Experts mostly evaluate the interior of a car separately, although such a system is sometimes used for the exterior. We are talking about a letter gradation from A to D. The letter A corresponds to an ideal or almost ideal condition, while D signals the need for repair and replacement of some parts.

Also on the auction cards there is almost always a schematic representation of the body, as if "in expanded form". You can also see various combinations of letters and numbers on it. Capital letters indicate the type of defect, and numbers indicate its degree. You can read more about the table of auction estimates at the end of the page. nine0005

Translation of the auction sheet

It is likely that the independent interpretation of the Japan auction sheet may cause difficulties. However, if you are our client, then do not despair! Our qualified translator is able to easily read the auction sheet and provide you with a quality translation!

How to find and view an auctioneer for a car? Quite simply, sales statistics and a search by lot number are always available on the site. nine0005
