Learning from home is the perfect time to develop a love and habit of reading daily. Try some of these suggestions to motivate the kids to read every single day.
- Design a reading log – When kids create their own log, they will love filling it in.
- Goal and countdown chain – Set a reading goal for a period of time. Every time you finish a book, add another paper link to your chain.
You can always do the reverse and start with a long length of paper chain pieces. Rip a link every day when you complete a book. - Make a reading nook or fort – Get some comfy floor pillows! Set them in a space conveniently beside a bookshelf or basket. Kids will curl up with a good book if it’s a cozy environment.
- Subscribe to a children’s magazine – Kids love getting mail – especially about topics they find interesting.
- Join a book club – Book clubs help keep kids accountable. They also increase excitement about books.

On the website of the popular Google Play Books service, you can add and read texts online. At the same time, the project has an extension for the Google Chrome browser, which provides access to downloaded books on a computer even without connecting to the Web.

This service, like Google Play Books, offers computer owners to read works on the site. In addition, Windows users can install the Bookmate desktop client, which allows you to add texts to your personal library and open them offline.
In both versions of the program, you can customize the font, background, indents and other visual elements. Bookmarks, reading positions, and other metadata are synced across devices. The application can slow down a little, but in general it is comfortable to use.
Texts added to the service by you can be read for free. Bookmate also offers a paid subscription to books from its online library, but you can opt-out.
