Sightwords.com is a comprehensive sequence of teaching activities, techniques, and materials for one of the building blocks of early child literacy. This collection of resources is designed to help teachers, parents, and caregivers teach a child how to read. We combine the latest literacy research with decades of teaching experience to bring you the best methods of instruction to make teaching easier, more effective, and more fun.

Sight words build speed and fluency when reading. Accuracy, speed, and fluency in reading increase reading comprehension. The sight words are a collection of words that a child should learn to recognize without sounding out the letters. The sight words are both common, frequently used words and foundational words that a child can use to build a vocabulary. Combining sight words with phonics instruction increases a child’s speed and fluency in reading.

This website includes a detailed curriculum outline to give you an overview of how the individual lessons fit together.  It provides detailed instructions and techniques to show you how to teach the material and how to help a child overcome common roadblocks. It also includes free teaching aids, games, and other materials that you can download and use with your lessons.

Many of the teaching techniques and games include variations for making the lesson more challenging for advanced students, easier for new or struggling students, and just different for a bit of variety. There are also plenty of opportunities, built into the lessons and games, to observe and assess the child’s retention of the sight words. We encourage you to use these opportunities to check up on the progress of your student and identify weaknesses before they become real problems.

Help us help you. We want this to be a resource that is constantly improving. So please provide us with your feedback, both the good and the bad. We want to know which lessons worked for your child, and which fell short. We encourage you to contribute your own ideas that have worked well in the home or classroom.  You can communicate with us through email or simply post a response in the comments section of the relevant page.

The Dolch Sight Words list is the most commonly used set of sight words. Educator Dr. Edward William Dolch developed the list in the 1930s-40s by studying the most frequently occurring words in children’s books of that era. The list contains 220 “service words” plus 95 high-frequency nouns. These words comprise 80% of the words you would find in a typical children’s book and 50% of the words found in writing for adults. Once a child knows this list of words, it makes reading much easier, because the child can then focus his or her attention on the remaining words.

The Dolch words are commonly divided into groups by grade level, ranging from pre-kindergarten to third grade, with a separate list of nouns. There are a total of 315 Dolch Sight Words.

"For a dyslexic, a word is one big, immovable brick"

A child who reads is a cause for pride. Most parents try to teach their children to read before school. But what if the child is already seven, eight, ten years old, and he still has difficulty reading? Let's figure it out together with Anna Levinzon, an expert at the True Words Reading Lab and a teacher at the HSE School of Linguistics.

What is dyslexia

Dyslexia is a congenital neurobiological disorder in which a child perceives language in a special way. A natural consequence of this violation is problems with reading. According to my observations, every fifth or seventh child experiences such difficulties. These children do not have any problems with intelligence, it may even be higher than that of some of their peers. It's just hard for kids to read. nine0003

Dyslexia can be of varying severity, sometimes neither the child nor the parents may even know about its existence: the child was treated on time, and the problems were avoided, but the situation may turn out to be more serious - so much so that neither the parents nor the specialists , alas, will not help him learn to read.

What is one of the main difficulties for a dyslexic? He will not divide words, sentences, text into component parts

That is, if an ordinary person has a word - a set of different sounds or phonemes, then for a dyslexic a word is one big motionless brick, he sees a large layer of text that cannot be divided into components parts. Imagine that I am showing you a forest from afar, and then asking you to tell me how many leaves are on the third branch from the bottom of the birch, standing on the right in the second row. So for a dyslexic, a separate sound in a word is the same branch. He hears and understands words, but is unable to divide them into their component parts. nine0003

Red flags

It is possible to understand that a child has problems even before he starts learning to read. The first thing parents can do is check phonemic hearing, the same one that helps us distinguish sounds in words.

Have your child say the word "bun" without the "b" sound. And now invite him to replace the sound "I" in the name of Yulia with the letter "a". If a preschooler has difficulties with such a task, he should be helped now: it is highly likely that when you move on to reading, he will have problems. What other features are important to pay attention to? nine0003

1. No progress . This is the first and foremost. Reading speed is always checked in elementary school - all parents scold this approach and do not understand it, and by the way, it is very important because it helps to understand whether the child's abilities are developing or not. If the child is a little behind the norm, it's okay, he just develops at his own pace. But if on September 1 he reads 20 words per minute and six months later the same 20 words are preserved, this is a reason to pay attention to reading and help the child. nine0003

2. Guesses words . When children first learn to read, they often guess whole words or endings, but if asked to spell a word, they will tense up and do it. The dyslexic will continue to guess. And this problem will remain in 7, and in 8, and even in 9 years. And if you think that a child in the beginning reads perfectly to himself, but is shy aloud, you are mistaken. He just guesses the obvious words. If I say "brown", you will understand that these are eyes. So dyslexics also read texts. And when the core subjects begin, the difficulties will begin. nine0003

3. Confused letters . Again, at the initial stages of learning to read, this is the norm. But if we understand that the child has been studying for a long time, but continues to confuse letters, this is an alarming bell.

4. Cannot hear a pair of letters . This parameter applies to preschoolers: children should hear deaf - voiced, soft - hard consonants, easily and quickly pick up pairs. If the child is taught this, but he still does not hear, there is something to think about. For example, if you say the word "barrel" and ask to change the voiced sound to a deaf one, a child with good phonemic hearing will quickly pick up the word "kidney". Dyslexics, on the other hand, often confuse deaf and voiced, hard and soft sounds when reading: instead of “paw”, they read “blooper”. nine0003

5. Mirrors letters . Of course, problems with sound perception and reading will affect writing. In the vast majority of cases, children with dyslexia also experience dysgraphia - difficulties with spelling words.

But again, preschoolers mirror letters simply because our brain is tuned to the fact that changing the position of the body in space does not change the properties of the body itself: if you see a puppy jumping, running, lying, somersaulting, you still understand that it's still the same puppy. But in letters it’s not like that: if the letter “E” is put on the back, it will turn into “Sh”. But if a child continues to mirror letters at school - in the second and even in the third grade, pay attention to this - these are frequent signs of dyslexia. nine0003

6. Omits or replaces the letters . Dyslexics often skip and change vowel consonants when reading: for example, it is difficult for them to read a letter that is repeated several times in a word. Or they make unusual mistakes in writing: they write not “karova”, but “krova” or “korava”, for example.

What to do

The main task of others who want to help a dyslexic is to teach him to divide words, sentences and texts into its component parts. Therefore, I would advise:

1. Don't force your child to read more. This is a gross mistake of parents whose children have difficulty reading. Teachers often do it too. Understand that for a dyslexic, reading is a huge physical and mental burden. Advising such a child to read more is like advising a person without a leg to start running marathons in order to walk faster. It is important to read not a lot, but regularly: small texts every day for 15–20 minutes, or as much as the child can stand. nine0003 Photo: Shutterstock / LightField Studios

2. Play . Play a variety of word games with young children: replace a letter, name a word with the first or last letter, swap letters, etc. Both in Russia and abroad, many teachers use Elkonin's cubes - a technique that was invented by a Soviet teacher and psychologist D. B. Elkonin. Meanwhile, making words out of multi-colored cubes, swapping them, noticing that there are vowels here, but not here, is an excellent prevention of reading difficulties. nine0003

3. Read poetry to children . Rhyme is essentially a piece of a word that seems to be separated from it. Therefore, poetry and games with rhymes are also a great exercise.

4. Don't be afraid of phonetic parsing . I know that parents do not like these exercises very much, they do not understand why they are needed at all. Yes, and many teachers too. But for a dyslexic, this is a great exercise that helps develop phonemic awareness. Children with dyslexia generally need all possible types of parsing: sentence parsing, derivational, morphological - all this is very important. nine0003

5. Pay attention to punctuation marks . This also helps to divide a large layer of text into separate parts - sentences. When you teach your child to read, always show him that there are periods, commas, exclamations and question marks in the text. Ask him to always read the sentence to the end, and not to throw it where he wanted. The child must analyze the text as a set of complete semantic units, and not as separate spots that he managed to subtract.

6. Use audiobooks . This is a lifesaver for dyslexics! First, it helps to expand vocabulary. A child who is read aloud a lot, who listens to audiobooks, and knows a lot of words, learns to decipher new words much faster, even with the difficulties that arise. Secondly, audio books help develop attention to printed text - let the child listen to the book in headphones and follow the text or try to read the words at the same time as the author. Only it should not be an audio performance, but a book text. nine0003

7. Help him read . The main mistake of parents is the belief that their child does not read on purpose, because he is lazy or inattentive. A child may not like to read, because it is more interesting for him to play on the phone, but if he studies at school and sometimes you read something with him at home, then he will master the reading skill, believe me, no matter how lazy he may be. Therefore, if you notice that the child is having a hard time, he cannot cope, help him: read assignments by subject, look for audio tutorials. Dyslexics are doing great with intelligence, they can cope with any school curriculum, they have only one difficulty - reading, so help him cope with it. nine0003

If you notice that there is no progress, and difficulties do not disappear, contact the specialists. True, there are problems here.

What specialists help to cope with dyslexia

In Russia there is no clear method for correcting dyslexia. There are no specialists who purposefully deal with this problem either. Parents first go to neuropsychologists - they tell them that they need to develop fine motor skills or interhemispheric connections. Then they go to some quasi-oculists and ophthalmologists - they offer glasses with colored lenses and texts on different backgrounds. The next visit is to a psychiatrist who prescribes pills "for concentration". As a result, the child turns out to be concentrated, wearing glasses with bright glasses and developed fine motor skills, but still with the same problems with reading. All these techniques do not help to cope with dyslexia. nine0003 Photo: Shutterstock / LightField Studios

The most logical step if you notice problems with reading is to go to a speech therapist. But, unfortunately, not all specialists are familiar with the methods of correcting dyslexia: some speech therapists limit themselves to solving only one task - to put sounds. But a child can read well without pronouncing some sounds, or may not read at all, but speaks perfectly.

Sometimes, especially in the regions, a terrible situation arises: when parents start sounding the alarm (often this happens only closer to the fifth grade), a psychological, medical and pedagogical commission is assembled at the school, on which a student can be diagnosed with a variety of diagnoses - from autism to ADHD. Such a child is sent to a correctional class. That is, firstly, they don’t provide him with any help with dyslexia, and secondly, they don’t take into account that everything is fine with his intellect - he can study according to the usual program and develop in various fields - physics, chemistry, mathematics, in anything. nine0003

In our Reading Lab project, we try to pay attention to the fact that a child with dyslexia often does not have any accompanying intellectual problems, he just needs support.

We recently had a case in class: a first-grader girl burst into tears in the middle of the lesson. I did not understand what was happening, how I could offend her. After the lesson, the girl’s mother came up to me and said: “You just said the phrase “let’s read”, she usually has only such a reaction to these words.” At the same time, the girl is studying at one of the best schools in Moscow. nine0003

Therefore, I urge you not to pressure, not to insist, to understand that it is very difficult for children. You have already grown up and learned to read, you forgot how difficult it was for you to master this skill yourself. Try to put yourself in the place of the child and understand what he is going through now. And walk this path together.

Kamakura High School students are thrilled to learn that a new student is being transferred to them. nine0003

Picturesque park, cherry blossoms. The young man Ryoichi Kyogoku admires the nature around him: so that's what you are, the Earth! Ryoichi places an ellipsoid-shaped crystal on the railing of the bridge. Light radiates from within the artifact. Near Ryoichi, a young man about his age stops. This is Kenji Seki walking his dog Shiro. Ryoichi says to a peer: hello!

Kenji's voiceover. The sun was shining, cherry blossoms were spinning. That was the first time I met Ryoichi Kyogoku. Two other things happened that day. nine0003

Kahori Harukawa emerges from the sea with a surfboard. She sees Kenji, turns to him: how nice, you walk your dog here every morning. The name of? I am Kenji Seki. The girl laughs: I asked about the name of the dog. I already know you, we are classmates. His name is Shiro, translated as White.

Kenji's voiceover. That day, I spoke to the head boy of our class. This is the best event of the year!

Kahori leaves. Natsuki Suzura is jogging along the shore. She sees a stunned Kenji, gives him a kick, starts teasing: I saw how you stared at Kahori. The face is so preoccupied, vile. Pervert! Kenji is angry: fool, shut up. He knocks the girl to the ground. She points to his open fly: look at you. Kahori must have noticed too. Kenzi is terribly embarrassed: that's it, my life is over! nine0003

Kenji's voice-over. The second significant event of the day was that fatal incident. If Natsuki told everyone at school... Today is the worst day of my life.

Natsuki says that he will now call Kenji Shirinchik.

Kenji's voiceover. Although the main event that day started when I met Kyogoku.

Senior students go to school. In the teachers' lounge, the principal informs the teachers that, under the new rules, the use of mobile phones is now prohibited on school grounds. Students must be made aware of this. nine0003

Natsuki and Kahori are talking in the locker room. Natsuki says that while jogging she also saw Kenji, who for some reason now began to walk Shiro in the morning: just don't say that he harassed you. Kahori: I didn't say anything like that.

There is a heated discussion in the class about the new rule. Saori Endo says that they are being deprived of the right to choose whether to use a mobile phone or not. And how now to correspond with friends, post? The curator Saito enters the class, he brought a new one, this is Ryoichi Kyogoku. Saito tries to convince Saori that cell phones distract students from class, so they don't need to be carried to school: we didn't have cell phones at your age. Real communication is more than that. Now it's time for you to meet your new classmate. At that moment, Kenji runs into the classroom, out of breath. Saito chides him for being late. Kenji takes a seat next to Natsuki's desk. She is sarcastic: this is what happens when you get up early, being an owl. You are undone again. Kenji clutches his fly in horror, but she's fine. He whispers to Natsuki, don't tell anyone, please. Ryoichi looks at them with interest, he says to Saito: it looks like you have a fun class. Then he introduces himself to his classmates: I moved here from Hanamaki, nice to meet you. Kenji informs Natsuki that he saw this guy this morning. nine0003

At recess, the girls ask Ryoichi for his mobile phone number. He claims that he does not have a mobile phone: I simply do not need it. They tell him about the play that Saito will put on this year, they ask which circle he will sign up for.

On the way home, Kenji and Natsuki discuss the new kid. Kenji: he looks like he's hiding something. Natsuki: it is, he's handsome. All the girls at school only talk about him.

At a meeting of the student council, Haruko Soga asks his classmates how they feel about the cell phone ban. Last year, because of such phones, some unpleasant story happened to one of the schoolgirls. Therefore, the majority of Council members are inclined to agree with the new rule. However, Deputy Head Yu Jinno believes that the dissatisfaction of the students was caused by the fact that a school-wide meeting was not held on this issue: the problem is that people want to participate in decision-making. nine0003

Kahori hears the piano from the music room. She looks in there and sees Ryoichi at the piano. He notices the girl: did you also want to play? Yes, we don't have a piano at home. Is that "Moonlight" by Claude Debussy? Ryoichi: Yes, I love Luna.

Kahori remembers this conversation on the way home, sighs dreamily.

Ryoichi is standing by the bridge with the crystal on the railing. The glow from it goes into the starry sky. There are some mysterious things going on. A talking animal appears. He turns to Ryoichi: I'm sorry to disturb you during your vacation, but energy is used up even for your stay here. Ryoichi: you do the same. Animal (he acts as a medium): I will report your remark to Dr. Kyogoku. You haven't forgotten about your mission, have you? And the moon in this era is yellow. Looks unusual. Ryoichi: It's beautiful though. nine0003

Rain. The theater club members Natsuki, Ryoichi, Kenji and Kahori sit under the awnings in the school yard and discuss Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream, which Saito has proposed to stage this year. Ryoichi talks about how war, death or illness always stand in the way of two loving people. And then love becomes fleeting and brief, like a dream. Then Ryoichi asks: what is the point of staging a play? Saito comes up to the guys: I'll see, you have a philosophical mindset. The author of this play believed that the purpose of acting is like holding a mirror in front of nature. Mirrors were made so that people could see their faces. There is something similar with the performance. For a while, you become the part you play. Therefore, I suggest that you look for meaning in the moments that are happening right now. nine0003

After class, the children walk around the picturesque surroundings of Kamakura. Kahori wonders why Ryoichi chose to be in the play. It became interesting what is the meaning of the process, and why say words that are not your thoughts. Kahori: but we're talking right now even though neither of us knows the other's thoughts. Natsuki teases Kenji: you probably don't understand a word now. He snaps: so what? Ryoichi: I think you understood everything perfectly. Natsuki: You read minds, don't you?

The guys come out to the cliff, from where a beautiful view of the bay opens, they admire the panorama, the kite soaring in the sky. Natsuki bullies Kenji again: if you stare at Kahori like that, she will think you are a pervert.

On the way home, Natsuki asks Kenji: are you in love with Kahori? What, you read minds? I definitely can do yours. It's all written on your face. Kenji: stop it, you don't understand how I feel. Natsuki: where did you get it? She slaps Kanji and runs away in tears.

Kenji is having dinner with his grandfather Koji Seki and his little sister. There is a series on TV about telepaths. Kenji turns it off: what nonsense, no one can read minds. Although it is convenient to have such abilities, I do not have them. Koji: it's like your cell phone situation, back in my day it didn't matter if you had one or not. Kenji: what about now? Koji: I had to take it myself because it was uncomfortable for others. Why do you want to have superpowers? Kenji: Haven't you ever wanted to understand how another person feels? nine0003

Late in the evening, Kenji bombards Natsuki's window with acorns from his bedroom (their houses are very close). Natsuki yells at him: stop it, you're sick of it already! One acorn hits her in the face. Kenji: are you alive there? Why aren't you replying to my messages? I wanted to apologize for my words today. I've been in love with Kahori for a long time, which is why I wanted to talk about her with you. Natsuki throws a pillow at Kenji: don't make me angry! She closes the window and draws the curtains.

Yuriko Yamagawa stands at night behind the railing of an observation deck over a high rocky shore. She intends to jump down. Ryoichi comes up from behind, he tells the girl: you can't. Yuriko breaks down, but Ryoichi grabs her arm and pulls her back. Yuriko cries: why did you save me? Who are you? Ryoichi: you are Yuriko Yamagawa, you were left for your second year in middle school. You think that no one understands your feelings, so you went to jump, although you really didn’t want to die. Yuriko: You don't know shit about me! Ryoichi: I don't need to, I can hear the voice of your soul. It's very hard to be misunderstood. A medium animal appears at Ryoichi's feet. He says to her: I know she is perfect. Then he turns to Yuriko: you want to read people's minds, don't you? You have the power, without it your voice would not reach me. But now no one will ever lie to you. Mysterious processes begin, discharges sparkle, a column of light goes into the night sky towards the Moon. nine0003

Natsuki has a dream. She and Kenji are small, they talk, stretching between the windows of their bedrooms a "telephone" made of cups connected by a thread. During the festive fireworks, little Natsuki confesses her love to Kenji, but he does not hear her words over the roar.

Natsuki wakes up in the morning: I haven't had this dream for a long time. I realized that on that day our hands were intertwined, but our souls were separated. Since childhood, we have lived in the neighborhood, went to the same kindergarten, studied together in elementary grades, in high school we had a common class hour, our desks and lockers were nearby. The girl next door is my eternal role, it will always be so. If only I could stop loving him! nine0003

On the way to school, Natsuki cycles past Kenji, crying.

Yuriko starts going to school again. Now she can read other people's minds, she looks calm and confident.

Natsuki tells Kahori that she has never missed school in her life. And how do you manage to go to such an attendance record? I never get sick. What if love fever happens to you? Then I'll come to school to at least see him.

Kenji takes a picture of the sky, runs into Ryoichi in the forest, tells him that some clouds look like a hamburger or a cheeseburger. Ryoichi asks: do you want to eat something? nine0003

Kahori confesses to Natsuki that she fell in love with Ryoichi at first sight. She asks: when will you tell him about it? Kahori: I didn't mean to do that. Do you really not like anyone? But what about Kenji? Natsuki: we just live next door, that's all. So he is a heartless goat. Girls enjoy the sunset.

Ryoichi and Kenji are sitting at a diner on the beach. Kenji is surprised: have you never eaten a hamburger before? Parents forbid? Ryoichi: that's not the point... Kenji: listen, I've wanted to ask you for a long time. When we first met, you said: so that's what you are, the Earth. Ryoichi: Have you told anyone about this? No, but what? So don't say it, otherwise they will suddenly consider you a weirdo. Kenji: everyone thinks I am. Ryoichi: you were wearing headphones that day, how could you hear me, telepathy? This phrase was in my head. So you can read minds? Kenji: are you an alien or what? Ryoichi: No, more like a person from the future. Kenji laughs as the telepath and the man from the future eat hamburgers at sunset. nine0003

At night, the medium animal reproaches Ryoichi for eating food from this era. You are too attached. This boy, Kanzdi, is an obstacle on the way to our goal. Ryoichi: Dad chose this era because of him, for revenge? Animal: I'm not authorized to speak for him. Ryoichi: Is there a battle going on here? Animal: Kenji is a dangerous dark horse. That's all I can say. There are several other candidates. Let the humanity of this age mind its own business.

At school, Kenji tries to make up with Natsuki: I'm sorry I threw acorns at you. It hurt? And how! You hurt me right in the heart. Kenji: did you hit him in the chest? Natsuki calls Kenji a goat, a pervert, beats him, and then runs away in tears. nine0003

After track and field practice, Natsuki tries to find Kahori, who was going to study music. But she is not in the room. Instead, Natsuki becomes a witness and an unwitting participant in a strange process caused by a certain artifact, the Ryoichi crystal. Natsuki resists his effects. One of the girls, Yukari Kondo, calls it a rite that makes you a person capable of living in the future: Haruko Soga successfully passed it, but I, unfortunately, did not. I couldn't hear your voice. Natsuki sees a talking animal. He says: I advise you to keep quiet about it. Yukari says it's a pity you're not like us. Discharges begin to beat in Natsuki again, she rises into the air, shouting: it hurts me, help! The rite stops Ryoichi. He also asks Natsuki not to tell anyone about what he saw. She is shocked: who are you? You look like people... Ryoichi hears someone's footsteps: be quiet, people are coming, we need to get out. The entire company is removed. nine0003

Before disappearing, the medium animal tells Ryōichi: Well, it's good that the head of the Council has such power. Now the plan will move faster.

Kahori lies on a surfboard, swaying on the waves. Her voiceover sounds. I don't remember my father. He worked on a ship. One day, in a storm, he drowned while trying to save a friend who had fallen overboard. My mother has always been terribly afraid of the sea. She worries about me being here. These trips to the sea are my only attempt at rebellion. I am sure that dad was not afraid of the water expanses. Only here I can feel the presence of my father, talk to him. nine0003

Kenji and Shiro catch up with Kahori emerging from the water. Kahori asks how old the dog is. The second ten went, I have had it since childhood. Kahori: Strange, he looks very young for a dog of his age. Kenji: By the way, have you seen Natsuki? No, she hasn't been to school for a long time. Did you speak to her? She is not responding. And me too. I'm worried her attendance record is broken. Kanji: Now I'm going to the record alone. And how did you manage? I'm always late, but I always arrive. Listen, Kahori, do you like anyone? nine0003

The student council led by Haruko Soga imposes a penalty for violating the ban on mobile phones: suspension. Only Yu Jinno votes against.

Yu Jinno complains to Kahori: what's going on? It feels like everyone around has been changed. At the same time, many stopped going to school altogether. Already 23 people do not show up for class, and not one of them responds to messages on the phone. People are worried, so they bring cell phones to school. Here they get lonely. And those who have changed behave as if nothing is happening. They seemed to communicate with each other without words, telepathy. Kahori invites Yuu to visit Saito after class, who is currently on sick leave. Yu agrees, only wants to go home first: I'll write to you. Kahori says she doesn't have a cell phone. nine0003

Kahori is waiting at the bus stop. Yuriko approaches her and informs her that the Deputy Head of the Council will not come to the meeting: he has changed. People are better off without mobile phones, because they want to have the power that we have. Aren't you curious to understand what other people think? Kahori: what can be done about it? Yuriko: be reborn, go to the future. Do you want to try? You have to understand if you have the power. Kahori begins to be exposed to the crystal. It hurts, she tries to run away, she falls. Kenji comes to her aid. They run away together. nine0003

Animal medium tells Yuriko and Haruko that Kenji has an innate power, which is why he heard Kahori. But only this power is sealed.

Kenji brings Kahori to him. It turns out that Natsuki sneaked into his room through the window, she is in pajamas. Kahori asks her: what did Kyogoku do to you? Is that why you stopped going to school? Natsuki replies evasively, but Ryoichi is really involved in everything that happens at the school. Then she and Kenji decide to see Kahori off. To change, Natsuki deftly jumps back out his window. nine0003

After seeing Kahori off, Kenji and Natsuki return home, talking on the way. Kenji reveals that he messed up again in front of Kahori when he asked who she likes. He had his fly open again. Natsuki first teases him, and then kisses him, confesses his same unrequited feelings and runs away.

Natsuki goes back to school. She's trying to figure out what's going on there. Many of those without power are now cooperating with the Council and supporting the ideas that Haruko promotes. nine0003

Ryoichi tells Kahori that in the future, humanity has exhausted all the earth's resources, a catastrophe has occurred. Only one ship survived, which was not on Earth. Those who managed to escape were forced to move to the moon. Over time, some of the children born there began to show the ability to telepathy. They begin to appear around the age of 14. But, since the humanity of his era is very small, Ryoichi was sent here with the task of awakening this power in as many people here as possible, in order to take them to the future. There is a possibility that this will prevent a catastrophe. Ryoichi compares himself to Baek from A Midsummer Night's Dream. I came here to bewitch people, but I may have bewitched myself. He kisses Kahori. nine0003

Ryoichi's voiceover. My mother was born in this era. I don't remember anything about her. She died shortly after giving birth. And my father believes that only the future matters.

Council members find a cell phone in Natsuki's locker. She faces severe punishment for breaking the rule and resisting.

Koji Seki, sensing that something is wrong, releases the power of his grandson that he locked up in Shiro many years ago. And Ryoichi the old man declares: it is not for me and not for you to decide how to use such an ability. And tell your father to leave the past in the past. Ryoichi tries to ask Kouji about his mother. He says that he was once in love with her. I hoped that in the future she would be happy. nine0003

Kenji saves Natsuki from the head of the council and her henchmen, carries her out of the hall in his arms. Ryoichi blocks their way: I told you that you read minds. You and I are destined to fight. Kenji suggests something completely different: tomorrow is a day off, let's go to the beach.

Kenji, Natsuki, Ryoichi and Kahori spend a wonderful day at the beach together. During the day, the sun shines in a clear sky, although in the morning a typhoon threatened to break out on the sea.

At some point, Natsuki seems to fall into the past. She sees herself as a little girl who is at the bedside of the dying Kenji (he fell out of the window while talking to Natsuki through a glass on a string). At that time, Natsuki possessed strength, but sacrificed those abilities in order to travel through time and fall out of the window instead of Kenji. nine0003

Kahori realizes that Natsuki has been in love with Kenji for a long time.

Ryoichi and Kenji are walking along the beach. Ryoichi says that when my father arrived on Earth, your grandfather interfered with his plans. Kenji: why didn't he come with you now? Ryoichi: You can only travel through time once, otherwise your heart will fail. Now your abilities are much stronger than mine. You and I are like the Sun and the Moon, they cannot work together.

In the evening, Ryoichi walks along the beach with Kahori. He says that tonight he must return to his home, to the moon. Love is a midsummer night's dream. The spell will break and you will forget me. Ryoichi shows her crystal: it is already full to the brim, it has several months in which I am not present. Kahori cries: don't go, I love you! Ryoichi: My mother from your era, when she arrived in the future, she must have been terribly lonely. Goodbye! nine0003

Kenji says to Natsuki, you are the only thing that makes sense for me to stay in this era. Ryoichi appears. Kenji says that he came to see him off. He points to the crystal: when you leave, I will break it. Ryoichi: I won't let you. Kenji: I don't want to fight you. Ryoichi: This is my assignment.

Ryoichi fall even further into the past. He must take the power that little Natsuki sacrificed to save Kenji's life. Then the future will change and humanity will survive. But Kenji manages to pull Ryoichi back out. Little Natsuki helps him. nine0003

Crystal shatters. Ryoichi: what have you done? In this era, I no longer exist. I can't go back, I'll be gone soon. Kenji claims that he has the strength to deliver Ryoichi, but only one way. Ryoichi: Don't go crazy, you'll stay there. Kenji turns to Natsuki: I'm sorry, I'll be right back, wait for me. He picks up Ryoichi and they both disappear.

Koji Seki dies.

At Natsuki's feet, two cups connected by a thread fall from a scattered column of light.
