About LittleStoryBug 2016-09-06T16:30:55-04:00
Greetings!
My name is Tracey Phillips. “Miss Tracey” for short. I have over 20 years experience as a librarian. In that time, I have worked extensively with children of all ages, preparing hundreds, if not thousands of programs and storytimes. Working directly with preschoolers, I know what it takes to engage young learners. I know what it takes to get their attention, deepen their learning, increase their attention span, sharpen their focus and have fun at the same time. Wanting to reach more children, parents, and educators, I created LittleStoryBug. I now reach an audience that spans across the world.
LittleStoryBug is a place where parents, educators, those working with children and children can come access resources for learning and FUN! Here, you’ll find songs, videos, books, and resources that will take your children to the next level. I discovered through the years that movement, coupled with song creates a dynamic atmosphere for early childhood development. As a result, the songs we create are designed to make you and your little ones want to move, dance, and have fun. Your children will be counting, learning abc’s, days of the week and month, colors, self esteem, and so much more!
You’ll also find videos that will keep your kids engaged.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible! I’d also like to take a moment to thank those of you that have supported us through the years.
Tracey & Bill Phillips
I have used several of your stories for our media story time and the kids love to sit and listen. Some of the books you have read are hard to find in our local libraries. Thank you so much for taking the time!

13 examples of how to spend millions of dollars and only harm your brand — Association of Retailers of Ukraine
Fiat, KFC, Energizer, Domino's, Coca-Cola, Dove and even McDonald's — and global corporations with billions of dollars in turnover and a colossal staff of advertisers and marketers are not immune from resounding failures, financial and reputational losses during PR campaigns.
Read Ukrainian
When discussing a budget with a customer, advertisers often insist that advertising always justifies itself. In fact, there are many opposite examples. The Bright Side portal reviewed the most unsuccessful advertisements, after which companies had to talk to their customers and spend a lot of money to restore their shattered reputation.
Trouble with arithmetic
One of America's most successful fast food chains, A&W, has attempted to compete with McDonald's. The weight of a standard beef patty in a Big Mac is a quarter pound (113.4 grams), and A&W figured they could afford to make patties weighing a third of a pound (151 grams) without much loss in cost, so a burger with a large the amount of meat will cost the same as a Big Mac.
The grandiose campaign launched in the 80s has completely failed. Nobody was buying A&W burgers, and management couldn't figure out why. It turned out that the average consumer had difficulty with fractions. The quarter-pound burger seemed like a better deal because "well, 4 is more than 3, right?"
Advertisement for ice cream or a new horror movie?
“A Canadian ice cream company called Little Baby’s Ice Cream decided to make an original ad. Instead of a banal plot where happy people enjoy ice cream on the beach, or something like that, they released a video in which a guy eats himself with a spoon. After the advertising campaign, ice cream sales plummeted. I wonder why?
50,000 scary letters
Fiat has sent pink paper love letters to women in Spain to get their attention. As a result, advertising became the cause of mass psychosis. The Spaniards decided that some maniac was writing to them. The letters contained phrases like “I noticed how interested you are looking at me”, “I want to be with you for a few minutes”, “let's go on a journey together”.
The identity of the sender was found out in the next letter, which arrived after 4-6 days, but by that time the women were already frightened, tried not to leave the house unaccompanied by men, and even turned to the police. Numerous outrages led Fiat to stop the campaign.
$50 million rebrand
For years, consumers have unequivocally associated the Tropicana brand with an orange with a straw sticking out of it. In 2009, Tropicana decided to redesign its packaging to give it a more "modern" look, spent more than $35 million on rebranding and advertising, and shipped the juice to stores.
It was a disaster. Customers simply walked past the new packaging, deciding that their favorite juice was out of stock. The company's revenue fell by 20%, and as a result, a month later, Tropicana was forced to return to the old packaging option. The experiment cost the company about $50 million and allowed competitors to boost sales.
$42 million free coupons
KFC began giving away free chicken coupons to attract customers. Unfortunately, the company announced this on the air of almost the most popular show in the country - the Oprah program.
More than 10 million coupons have been downloaded from the site. The company lost $42 million and was embarrassed because some customers could not get their free lunch, KFC had to apologize to both its customers and Oprah Winfrey.
How to advertise competitors
Battery manufacturer Energizer used a pink rabbit in their ad. The video became very popular, and the company's profit fell by half. On the other hand, their rival Duracell doubled its profits.
The fact is that a few years ago Duracell used a similar pink rabbit as a mascot, and Energizer really managed to advertise their competitor. Viewers thought it was a Duracell ad.
A cheap car that only the rich wanted
In 2008, Indian entrepreneur Ratan Tata announced the launch of the "people's car" project. The small Tata Nano cost only $2,500 and, at first glance, it was an excellent offer for India, where the income of the population is low. However, in practice, sales of the "people's car" were far from expected.
Although it was a really good car, Ratan Tata did not take into account that in India the car is a symbol of a certain status, and each Tata Nano buyer admitted to his neighbors his own poverty. As a result, Indians preferred to buy an expensive motorcycle instead of a cheap car.
Free pizza forever
A lifetime supply of pizza was promised by the Domino's pizzeria chain to its Russian fans who decide to get a tattoo with the pizzeria's logo. According to the plan, the action was supposed to last two months, but it was interrupted after five days: too many people decided that this was too good an offer to ignore.
The company had to issue an urgent message that only the first 350 participants would receive free pizza coupons, and urge the rest who wanted to cancel the tattoo parlor registration.
Little mistake
Pepsi's promotion in the Philippines was going very well with a promotion that gave away cash prizes. The prize code was printed under the cover, and the reward ranged from $4 to $40,000. By the time things went wrong, 17 top prizes had already been awarded.
One day, the company announced that the main prize code was 349. Unfortunately, due to a technical error, over 800,000 bottles with this code went on sale. If the company had paid all the winners the due amount, it would have lost about $ 32 billion. Pepsi had to announce that the owners of caps with the number 349will receive consolation prizes, and even this cost the organizers almost $9 million, despite the initial budget of the campaign was about $2 million. The reputational losses were terrible, many of those who counted on the main prize went to court.
Can prizes
In the early 1990s, Coca-Cola invented a special can with a mechanism called the MagiCan. Coca-Cola wanted to please its fans with prizes, but lost $100 million, and many thought they were being poisoned. Instead of a drink, MagiCans housed a spring-loaded device that ejected a folded bill when the can was opened. To make it impossible to distinguish the jar by weight, chlorinated water was poured into it. In case the mechanism does not work and the buyer still decides to take a sip, a chemical was added to the water that smells like rotten eggs.
But the customers weren't told about it, and the MagiCans were no different from the usual ones. As a result, the company received many complaints about the smelly drink, spoiled prizes, and some customers went to the hospital. The campaign cost $100 million and was wound up in three weeks.
Bottle Body Shaping
Dove is known for promoting the idea of "true beauty". Once, within the framework of this concept, Dove released liquid soap in bottles of various shapes, trying to show that the ideal does not exist and that any body is beautiful.
The campaign turned out to be a failure, because customers involuntarily began to look for a bottle that suits their physique, and who likes to stand at the checkout with a short and wide bottle of soap? As a result, this made women self-conscious about their bodies, that is, the effect of the campaign was just the opposite of what was intended.
Free coffee for the rich and famous
When Prince Harry and his wife Meghan decided to step down from their duties as senior members of the royal family and move to Canada, Tim Hortons, a local coffee chain, saw it as the perfect opportunity to advertise. The companies posted on their official twitter: "Meghan and Harry, not that we're pushing, but if you decide to stay in Canada, we'll give you lifetime free coffee. "
This was supposed to be witty, but instead, the company received a lot of negative comments on social networks regarding the network's personnel policy: “You offer free coffee to people who can afford to buy your entire company, while your own employees do not always have enough rental salaries. Don't you see the contradiction?
Social media can be unpredictable
The unpredictability of social media has plagued many large corporations trying to befriend users. For example, McDonald's once paid to promote the McDStories hashtag on Twitter, hoping to collect touching and heartfelt stories about Happy Meals.
The advertising campaign had to be stopped after two hours, because instead of the expected inspirational stories, users began to share everything that did not suit them in the fast food chain. The icing on the cake was the revelations of former McDonald's employees who revealed the secrets of restaurants.

Short games that can be completed in one evening or day: a selection of interesting video games
Yefim Gugnin
born with a gamepad in hand
I love video games, but I don't always have time for them. After all, they can stretch for many tens or even hundreds of hours.
But there are exceptions. This collection contains 15 games of different genres that can be completed in one go.
What Remains of Edith Finch
Briefly: touching "walking simulator" about accepting death
Duration: 2 hours
Release year: 2017
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
What a game. A girl explores the old house where many generations of her family used to live: she walks through labyrinthine corridors and plunges into the dying memories of her countless relatives. You will have to play on behalf of babies forgotten in the bathroom, and as old people who meet the inevitable end.
What's special. What Remains of Edith Finch is not only a powerful statement about accepting death, but also an example of a video game as an art form. Each memory that the heroine penetrates is a small game that makes you literally live the sensations of different people. In the most impressive episode, you play as a guy who is slowly losing his mind: with one hand you will have to control his body, busy with boring work, and the other to travel through worlds created by unbridled fantasy. 9Ol000 What game is this. You are a citizen of the totalitarian state of Arstotzk, who must check the documents of everyone who tries to enter the country. Any mistake threatens with a serious fine, but you still have to feed your family and buy medicine for your mother and little son.
What's special. Papers, Please was made by one person - Lucas Pope, a master of creating exciting games from seemingly boring concepts.
He turns the bureaucratic routine of matching seals and checking dates into a parade of difficult moral choices: help a woman who has forgotten one unimportant document and is in a hurry to her sick father, or refuse her so as not to receive a fine? Help the underground opposition or stay loyal to the dictatorship?
Papers, Please can really be completed in one evening, but you can return to it again, choosing different options for the development of the fate of the characters.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Brief: Fantasy-Adventure of two brothers with unusual control
Duration: 3 hours
Exit: 2013
Platforms: Windows, PlayStatTation Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, iOS, Android
What a game. The plot is based on the story of two brothers who went to get medicine for their father. To reach the sacred tree, they must cross lands inhabited by goblins, were-spiders, and rotting bodies left over from the giants' wars.
What's special. Starbreeze's debut game is based on a simple yet effective concept. Two brothers need to be played simultaneously with one gamepad: the older one with the left stick, the younger one with the right one, which makes even the simplest puzzles a test of your coordination.
With the help of simple mechanics, the game makes you physically experience the feeling of loss - usually playwrights spend long hours "revealing" the characters on this.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Briefly: Comic Western with an unreliable storyteller
Duration: 3-4 hours
Output: 2013
Platforms: Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 9000
,0006 what a game. At the sunset of the Wild West era, an elderly man enters a saloon, visitors recognize him as a legendary bounty hunter in the past. While drinking, he tells half-true stories about how he caught famous bandits, trying to avenge his murdered brothers.
What's special. Gunslinger is the shortest part of the Call of Juarez western shooter series and the most extraordinary. First of all, because of the way the narrative is built in it: Greaves is an unreliable narrator whose confused story is assembled right in front of the player. Somewhere the Indians will suddenly turn into bandits, somewhere the game will pause because Greaves went to the toilet, and one mission will be repeated three times, because each of the listeners has their own version of what happened there.
Add to that a complex duel system and you have the perfect cowboy adventure for those who can't afford to spend a hundred hours in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Released: 2012
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 3, iOS
What a game. In a very light and beautiful game Journey there is not a single line of text or a plot as such. Only the hero is a strange creature in a burgundy cloak and his goal: a distant mountain peak, emitting a column of light upwards.
What's special. Journey shows that games don't need words to be fun. Everything here is built on the feeling of "flow": as soon as you pick up the gamepad, you don't want to let it go until the very end.
Journey is also an interesting experiment on the topic of gaming communication. In the course of the action, you can accidentally meet other users, and you can communicate with them only with the help of special gestures. Some of them will definitely help to deal with an incomprehensible area, and someone will ask for help himself.
The Stanley Parable
Briefly: History of the Office Clerk, breaking the Fourth Wall
Duration: 1.5-2.5 hours
9000 6 Exit year: 2011
Windows, Macos, Linux, Linux, Linux, Linux, Linux, Linux, Linux, Linux, Linux, Linux, Linux
What a game. An office worker named Stanley pressed two buttons in his office all his life and was absolutely happy. Until one day he discovered that all his colleagues had disappeared, and a strange voiceover stuck to him, telling him something and leading him somewhere.
What's special. The Stanley Parable is a joke game, one big experiment on the boundaries of game storytelling. You are led through a gray office building by a narrator who knows in advance where Stanley will turn left and which of the three doors he will enter.
The trick is that you don't have to listen to it: you can go your own way, and the voiceover will try to convince you to do everything "according to instructions." You can run The Stanley Parable in ten minutes, but then you won't see even half of the interesting. But in a couple of hours you explore all possible “endings”: there is a separate ending even for the situation when Stanley just stands still for a long time.
JAZZPUNK
Briefly: Surrealistic parody of spy militants
Duration: 2-3 hours
Exit year: 2014
9000 for the game. In the yard - an alternative retro-futuristic fifties, your hero is a silent special agent who performs various tasks for an underground organization. These missions are not the most ordinary: either you need to steal an artificial liver from a cowboy, or you need to kill a pig with the help of a ukulele.
What's special. Jazzpunk is an absurd postmodern comedy that satirizes movie and video game clichés about special agents. Each level is a separate carnival with a dozen colorful characters and stupid situations. To complete one of the missions, you will have to beat a Honda car with your hands, and the main villain will hand out a business card with the inscription "Antagonist: murders, kidnappings, potpourri" upon meeting. In general, it will not be boring.
Superhot
Briefly: a shooter in which the movement of time depends on the movement of the player
Duration: 2. 5 hours
Release year: 2016
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, macOS, Linux
What a game. A strange person from the Internet sends a file to the hero: in it, according to him, the best game in the Universe. The best game turns out to be a stylish red-and-white shooter that gradually sucks in anyone who dares to spend too much time there.
What is special. Graphics in Superhot consist of only three colors - white environment, red enemies, black weapons, and the plot is absolutely not important. The main thing is how the authors implement the central concept: time in the game moves only when the player moves.
This allows you to do things that are only possible in Bollywood movies or blockbusters like The Matrix: you deftly dodge bullets, throw a "blank" weapon at one enemy to draw the gun from another and shoot at a third. No shooter in the world makes you feel like a superhero like Superhot does.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Brief: Hideo Kojima's small stealth action game
Duration: 2 hours
Release year: 2014
PlayStation 4, Xbox 5: Platforms One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
What game. You are Big Boss, a world-famous special agent who decided to create his own state, entirely consisting of military mercenaries. But first you need to rescue the comrades-in-arms from the fortified enemy base. How exactly you do it is up to you.
What's special. Ground Zeroes is a prologue to a larger game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but is also a standalone project. To understand what is happening here, you do not need to understand the plots of the rest of Hideo Kojima's series. Ground Zeroes is more like a research ground: the player has one location and one clear goal, but there are a lot of ways to achieve it.
Portal
Briefly: fantasy puzzle with unexpected ending
Duration: 3 hours
Release year: 2007
Platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Android
What a game. A girl named Chell wakes up in a sterile laboratory - soon the robot will explain to her that she was part of the experiment. All that is required of her is to take a special gun that creates portals and solve a few puzzles. And at the same time, it is desirable not to notice the occasionally slipping manic notes in the always friendly voice of the robot that gives her instructions.
What's special. Portal is now seen as an optional add-on to the larger Portal 2, a small "demo" that was needed to prove the gameplay concept worked. But this is exactly what the first part is valuable for: it is very short, and the puzzles with portal guns in it are not as sophisticated as in the sequel. Moderately difficult, moderately funny - in general, an ideal game to interest even those who have never been fond of puzzles in their lives. 9Ol000 What is the game about. A middle-aged man named Henry takes a job as a lookout on a fire tower in the Wyoming National Forest. He calmly patrols the area and communicates on the walkie-talkie with the sweet boss Delilah, until strange things suddenly begin to happen in the district.
What's special. The Firewatch is a great example of how you can make a great game even on a small budget. And the project of a small indie studio Campo Santo shows how far scriptwriting has come in games. The whole game is built on the dialogues of Henry and Delilah, the player can choose the answer options on his own - the relationship of the characters will depend on this. It seems that listening to dialogues is much more interesting than actually playing.
Inside
Brief: a dark platform game with a unique visual style
Running time: 3.5 hours
Release year: 2016
Platforms: PlayStation, Windows 4, Xbox One, iOS,
What a game. A 2D puzzle game with platform elements tells about a boy who escaped from scary armed men into the thick of the forest. Soon we will understand that the hero lives in a dystopian world where half of the people are zombies controlled by special helmets.
What's special. Playdead has only released two games, but has already become known for its unique aesthetic and spooky stories told without a single word. Like the early Limbo, there are no dialogues in Inside, only a series of gloomy locations and an open-ended plot about control and freedom.
Her Story
Briefly: a detective game where instead of wide-brimmed hats and guns there is a keyboard and a dim monitor screen
Duration: 2.5 hours
Released: 2015
Platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android
What a game. Her Story invites the player to feel like a real policeman - not the one who chases criminals and beautifully draws pistols from a holster, but a simple civil servant sorting through endless interrogation files. Here are 217 video files with a confusing story of a girl named Hannah. What she is accused of and what really happened is not immediately clear: this is exactly what the player needs to figure out by looking for the right videos in the database by keywords.
What's special. Detective is a genre that does not get along very easily with video games. So the creators of Her Story are doing the almost impossible: not only do they come up with elegant and simple game mechanics for a detective investigation, they also tell a really unusual story that is difficult to understand until the very end.
To The Moon
Briefly: a soulful pixel quest about memory, love and flying to the moon
Duration: 4 hours
Release year: 2011
Platforms: Windows, Nintendo Switch, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android
What a game. Two members of a "wish-granting agency" enter the minds of dying patients and rebuild their memories as if all their dreams had actually come true. In To The Moon, they visit an old man who has always wanted to go to the moon.
What's special. To The Moon is an exceptionally narrative game: there is almost nothing to “do” here, the maximum is to move some objects from place to place or solve a couple of simple puzzles. But the story in it is at the level of the best dramatic films: it is a touching parable about the cycles of human memory and love, which is able to overcome death itself.
Abzû
Brief: meditation game about the colorful depths of the ocean
Duration: 2 hours
Release year: 2016
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
What a game. The game is all about movement - there are no words or plot in it. The protagonist travels through the most beautiful underwater worlds and wants to return the life that has passed to the ocean. To do this, you need to solve simple puzzles and sometimes ride on the back of underwater creatures.
What's special. Abzû is a very short game that, like a samurai, has no goal, only a path.
