The Letter of the Day | Muppet Wiki
The Letter of the Day is a Sesame Street segment introduced in 2002, hosted by Cookie Monster. In 2004, Prairie Dawn appeared with Cookie Monster in the segments.
The original segments from 2002 all involved the letter written in icing on a cookie, which Cookie Monster constantly tried not to eat, but in the end, he gave in and ate the cookie anyway. Frank Oz performed Cookie Monster in some of these segments, and occasionally another character would help him, usually Grover or Prairie Dawn, as well as Ernie in an unaired segment.
Starting in 2004, when he was teamed up with Prairie Dawn, the letter presented was just a foam letter which Cookie Monster often wanted to eat. Prairie Dawn kept trying to get Cookie not to eat the letter, but Cookie Monster always managed to find a way to eat it anyway.
Some segments produced in 2005 involved "The Letter of the Day Games," a game show introduced by a very energetic off-camera announcer (voiced by Matt Vogel).
"The Letter of the Day" was a daily segment on the show until 2007. The 2004 segments with Cookie and Prairie Dawn appeared in some (but not all) episodes during that season. In season 39, new segments were made, commonly connecting to the street scene for that episode, featuring other characters instead of Cookie Monster. In season 40, Murray Monster began hosting the Letter of the Day, in addition to introducing various other show elements.

Cookie warns him that he will be very tempted, and beg and cry for the cookie (even resorting to telling Ernie's mommy), but no matter what, Ernie should not give it to him. However, Ernie does give him the cookie simply because Cookie politely asked for it. 
Mumford tries and fails to make the cookie disappear, but Cookie Monster figures out a way to do it... 
He ends up eating both the cookie and the drawing, though! 
Doing so makes the letter disappear, allowing the rest of the cookie to be consumed.

Cookie Monster (Sesame Street)
Cookie Monster is a fictional puppet character from the television show Sesame Street. Cookie is known for his insatiable appetite, as well as the phrases he utters through his full mouth: “ I want cookies! " (" Me want cookie! "), " I'm eating cookies! " (" Me eat cookie! ") and " Om-yum-yum-yum! "(" Om nom nom nom "), however, in Russian translation, except for the habit of talking about yourself in the third person and omitting articles (" Cookie wants cookies! The English version of the character is voiced by Frank Oz (from 1969 to 2002) and David Rudman (from 2002 to present).
Character Creation
Jim Henson's Designs and Doodles describes Cookie's appearance as follows:
In 1966, Henson drew three biscuit-eating monsters that appeared in General Foods, a commercial project that was going to produce three types of crunchy snacks in the form of wheels, crowns and flutes.
Each snack was represented by its own monster. The "wheeled" monster Stealer was short, shapeless, with crazy eyes and sharp teeth. Flute Snatcher had a long pointed nose and shaggy hair. Crown Grabber (Grabber) resembled Boris Karloff with teeth like knitting needles. These monsters were big hunters of the snacks they were named after. Every time the narrator, a humanoid Muppet, was about to eat a cookie, it would disappear before he could. Frustrated and hungry, the narrator warned viewers that "these nasty monsters might be hiding in your own house." nine0020
These commercials never aired, but all three monsters became full-fledged muppet characters with their own uses. The Crown Grabber was used in a sketch on The Ed Sullivan Show. Known as Beautiful Day Monster, she has made a number of appearances on The Muppets and Sesame Street. Flute Snatcher has evolved into Snake Frackle, the monster from The Great Santa Claus Switch and The Muppets. In 1967, Henson used the Wheel-Steeler in the IBM educational film Coffee Break Machine.
In the sketch called "Computer Dinner", a monster with frightening eyes and fangs devours a coffee maker, describing its various parts along the way. When he finishes, the machine reports that the monster has activated the system to destroy the vandals. The monster quickly explodes. This sketch was also shown on October 1967 years on The Ed Sullivan Show. In addition, he later appeared on The Muppets.
An equally predatory monster was used by Henson to create three commercials for Munchos potato chips. This time the character's name was Arnold, the Munching Monster. Henson could have extended his contract, but he didn't because he started working on Sesame Street - and this monster moved him to a new stage in his career. The Biscuit Monster, still unnamed, first appeared on Sesame Street with Kermit the Frog in the "famous W lecture", eating the letter "W" bit by bit and turning it into an "N", "V" , and finally in "I", to Kermit's dismay. nine0020
During the first season, the Biscuit Monster got its name and started yelling "Me want cookies!" (English I want cookies! ) - a phrase that later became an integral part of this character.
The song "C Is For Cookie" was first aired in the 1971-1972 season and became one of Sesame Street's most famous songs. Very rarely on the set Korzhik eats real biscuits: mostly rice crackers decorated with traditional Korzhik cookies.
In "The Ready To Learn", a parody of Mission Impossible, Agent Cookie's entire body is shown. Other instances where Muppet legs have been shown are "The Street We Live On" (where Cookie pretends to be a child), episode #4075 (where he sits on a throne during his story), and "Abby in Wonderland". nine0020
Character Biography
In 2004, the English version of Sesame Street stated that before Cookie ate his first cookies, his name was Sid. Later they began to call him Elisha, and even later - Arnold.
Korzhik's birthday is November 2nd. Unlike the other Sesame Street Muppets, Korzhik has 5 fingers instead of 4. characteristic blue fur and have similar eyes. Korzhik's father appeared in one of the scenes shown under the heading Monsterpiece and promoted such important things for children to assimilate as saving electricity, conserving water resources and protecting the environment.
