Once upon a time there were three bears, who lived together in a house of their own in a wood. One of them was a little, small wee bear; one was a middle-sized bear, and the other was a great, huge bear.

One day, after they had made porridge for their breakfast, they walked out into the wood while the porridge was cooling. And while they were walking, a little girl came into the house. This little girl had golden curls that tumbled down her back to her waist, and everyone called her by Goldilocks.

Goldilocks went inside. First she tasted the porridge of the great, huge bear, and that was far too hot for her. And then she tasted the porridge of the middle bear, and that was too cold for her. And then she went to the porridge of the little, small wee bear, and tasted that. And that was neither too hot nor too cold, but just right; and she liked it so well, that she ate it all up.

Then Goldilocks went upstairs into the bed chamber and first she lay down upon the bed of the great, huge bear, and then she lay down upon the bed of the middle bear and finally she lay down upon the bed of the little, small wee bear, and that was just right. So she covered herself up comfortably, and lay there until she fell fast asleep.

By this time, the three bears thought their porridge would be cool enough, so they came home to breakfast.

“SOMEBODY HAS BEEN AT MY PORRIDGE!” said the great huge bear, in his great huge voice.

“Somebody has been at my porridge!” said the middle bear, in his middle voice.

Then the little, small wee bear looked at his, and there was the spoon in the porridge pot, but the porridge was all gone.

“Somebody has been at my porridge, and has eaten it all up!” said the little, small wee bear, in his little, small wee voice.

Then the three bears went upstairs into their bedroom.

“SOMEBODY HAS BEEN LYING IN MY BED!” said the great, huge bear, in his great, rough, gruff voice.

“Somebody has been lying in my bed!” said the middle bear, in his middle voice.

And when the little, small, wee bear came to look at his bed, upon the pillow there was a pool of golden curls, and the angelic face of a little girl snoring away, fast asleep.

“Somebody has been lying in my bed, and here she is!” Said the little, small wee bear, in his little, small wee voice.

Goldilocks jumped off the bed and ran downstairs, out of the door and down the garden path. She ran and she ran until she reached the house of her grandmama. When she told her grandmama about the house of the three bears who lived in the wood, her granny said: “My my, what a wild imagination you have, child!”

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Goldilocks.  She went for a walk in the forest. Pretty soon, she came upon a house.  She knocked and, when no one answered, she walked right in. At the table in the kitchen, there were three bowls of porridge.  Goldilocks was hungry. She tasted the porridge from the first bowl. “This porridge is too hot!” she exclaimed. So, she tasted the porridge from the second bowl. “This porridge is too cold,” she said So, she tasted the last bowl of porridge. “Ahhh, this porridge is just right,” she said happily and she ate it all up. After she’d eaten the three bears’ breakfasts she decided she was feeling a little tired.  So, she walked into the living room where she saw three chairs. Goldilocks sat in the first chair to rest her feet. “This chair is too big!” she exclaimed. So she sat in the second chair. “This chair is too big, too!” she whined. So she tried the last and smallest chair. “Ahhh, this chair is just right,” she sighed. But just as she settled down into the chair to rest, it broke into pieces! Goldilocks was very tired by this time, so she went upstairs to the bedroom.  She lay down in the first bed, but it was too hard. Then she lay in the second bed, but it was too soft. Then she lay down in the third bed and it was just right. Goldilocks fell asleep. As she was sleeping, the three bears came home. “Someone’s been eating my porridge,” growled the Papa bear. “Someone’s been eating my porridge,” said the Mama bear. “Someone’s been eating my porridge and they ate it all up!” cried the Baby bear. “Someone’s been sitting in my chair,” growled the Papa bear. “Someone’s been sitting in my chair,” said the Mama bear. “Someone’s been sitting in my chair and they’ve broken it all to pieces,” cried the Baby bear. They decided to look around some more and when they got upstairs to the bedroom, Papa bear growled, “Someone’s been sleeping in my bed,” “Someone’s been sleeping in my bed, too” said the Mama bear “Someone’s been sleeping in my bed and she’s still there!” exclaimed Baby bear. Just then, Goldilocks woke up and saw the three bears.  She screamed, “Help!” And she jumped up and ran out of the room. Goldilocks ran down the stairs, opened the door, and ran away into the forest. And she never returned to the home of the three bears.

A ready-made salty dish can be supplemented with fried vegetables or mushrooms, and a sweet dish with honey, jam, berries and fruits.

How to make really tasty porridge

Eva Punch

Many people treat porridges with suspicion - “children's food, healthy, but tasteless”, and they rarely allow porridges into their adult diet, except perhaps for dietary purposes.

However, cereals can be very tasty, without losing their usefulness. Make friends with cereal dishes. For example, add fresh berries or fruit slices to your morning porridge. Or vice versa, add cereal (oatmeal, buckwheat, wheat or barley) to fruit salad.

Porridges are cooked not only in milk, but also in meat broths or mushroom broths. And porridge is not necessarily a “mess”, crumbly porridges are no less tasty and healthy.

The most delicious porridges are cooked in a Russian oven or at least in an oven. Do not be afraid to simmer porridge for a long time, fearing that it will lose vitamins. B vitamins, which are rich in cereals, are not destroyed by heat treatment. Heat is dangerous for vitamin C, but cereals are not a source of this vitamin.

The easiest porridge to cook - buckwheat . It generally requires a minimum of heat treatment and effort. It is enough just to pour buckwheat with boiling water (1: 1.5), close the lid and let it brew. The cereal will absorb water, so the porridge is ready.

But it is even better to roast the buckwheat dry in the oven first. In a cast iron or deep frying pan, about a quarter of an hour, and then pour boiling water over and cover. Such buckwheat is distinguished by a special aroma - a stove spirit.

Do not cook for a long time and semolina . It is enough to bring it to a boil and remove from heat, continuing to stir so that there are no lumps. True, semolina porridge is not suitable for people who are overweight or who control their weight, because it is very high in calories, and it has less useful dietary fiber than oatmeal or buckwheat.

Various casseroles or groats, dumplings or dumplings can be prepared on the basis of ready-made cereals. Add porridge to the cutlet mass, or use it as a filling for pies.

Excellent variant krupenik – buckwheat porridge mixed with cottage cheese. This dish was traditionally served with cabbage soup and borscht instead of bread. Cottage cheese is mixed with boiled buckwheat porridge, salted, laid out in a mold and baked for 20-30 minutes over medium heat. Cut into slices, served both hot and cold.

Chilled corn porridge can also be cut into slices, which is prepared in a variety of ways. You can cook the classic Moldavian hominy from cornmeal. And you can cook just cool porridge from cereals.

Baking is even better. This facilitates the cooking process, because when cooking corn porridge on the stove, it has to be constantly stirred. And you can bake without problems, even in the microwave.

Water and cereals are taken in a ratio of 1:1, salt is added. The porridge is baked for 20 minutes, and for another 20 minutes it is allowed to rest, brew, and then cut into slices, which can also be served hot or cold, poured with hot or sour sauce, sprinkled with spices, or fried in a small amount of oil, like cakes.

One of the most useful, but the least popular cereals among the people is pearl barley (aka barley).
