Two versions are shown below.

Version 1

Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
like a continental soldier?
Do your ears hang low?

Do your ears hang high?
Do they reach up to the sky?
Do they droop when they are wet?
Do they stiffen when they're dry?
Can you semaphore your neighbour
with a minimum of labour?
Do your ears hang high?

Do your ears flip-flop?
Can you use them for a mop?
Are they stringy at the bottom?
Are they curly at the top?
Can you use them for a swatter?
Can you use them for a blotter?
Do your ears flip-flop?

Do your ears hang out?
Can you waggle them about?
Can you flip them up and down
as you fly around the town?
Can you shut them up for sure
when you hear an awful bore?
Do your ears hang out?

Version 2

Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
like a Continental Soldier?
Do your ears hang low?

Does your tongue hang down?
Does it flop all around?
Can you tie it in a knot?
Can you tie it in a bow?
Can you throw it o'er your shoulder
like a Continental Soldier?
Does your tongue hang down?

Does your nose hang low?
Does it wiggle to and fro?
Can you tie it in a knot?
Can you tie it in a bow?
Can you throw it o'er your
shoulder like a Continental Soldier?
Does your nose hang low?

Do your eyes pop out?
Do they bounce all about?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
like a Continental Soldier?
Do your eyes pop out?

Do your eyeballs droop
do they wobble in your soup
can you tie them in a loop
can you wind them on a hoop
do your eyeballs droop!

The following verses are copyright 1998 by Lawrence, Ann, Benjamin, and Katherine Sulky

Do your ears stretch wide? Do they reach from side to side?
Can you use them as a parachute
or wings that let you glide?
Can you cast a cooling shadow
over most of Colorado?
Do your ears stretch wide?

Are your ears too big? Are they heavy as a pig?
Do they bruise your cerebellum
when you dance an Irish jig?
Can they function as the anchors
for a fleet of oil tankers?
Are your ears too big?

Are your ears real small? Barely visible at all?
Do they look just like two peanuts stuck onto a bowling ball?
Can you store them in a thimble when you're feeling rather nimble?
Are your ears real small?

Are your ears quite clean? Do they have a lovely sheen?
Did you harvest all the vegetables that grow down in between?
Did you wash out all the soil after all your farming toil?
Are your ears quite clean?

Are your ears so thin? Do the breezes make 'em spin?
Can you shine a light right through them like the finest onionskin?
Can you wrap up a salami? Do they fold like origami?
Are your ears so thin?

Lyrics:

Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them over your shoulder like a continental soldier?
Do your ears hang low?

Do your ears hang high?
Do they reach up to the sky?
Do they droop when they're wet?
Do they stiffen when they're dry?
Can you semaphore your neighbor with a mimimum of labor?
Do your ears hang high?

Do your ears hang wide?
Do they flap from side to side?
Do they wave in the breeze?
From the slightest little sneeze?
Can you soar above the nation with a feeling of elation?
Do your ears hang wide?

Do your ears flip-flop?
Can you use them for a mop?
Are they stringy at the bottom?
Are they curly at the top?
Can you use them for a swatter?
Can you use them for a blotter?
Do your ears flip-flop?

Do your ears hang askew?
Can you use one stirring stew,
while the other's picking berries,
or making mountain dew?
Can you hold an elevator,
while you signal to a waiter?
Do your ears hang askew?

Do your ears fall off?
When you give a great big cough?
Do they lie there on the ground?
Or bounce up at every sound?
Can you stick them in your pocket like little Davy Crockett?
Do your ears fall off?

Do your eyeballs droop?
Do they wobble in your soup?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a loop?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder,
Like a continental soldier?
Do your eyeballs droop?

Does your nose hang down?
Does it drag upon the ground?
Can you tie it in a knot?
Can you tie it in a crown?
Can you throw it over your shoulder,
Like a continental soldier?
Does your nose hang down?

Do your eyes bug out?
Do they roll around your snout?
Do you go cross-eyed,
When you're looking for a trout?
Can you see your image clearer,
Without looking in the mirror?
Do your eyes bug out?

Bloodhounds are champion sniffers, but how do all those puffy folds and cheek wiggles function? There are dogs that smell with their ears!

Bloodhounds are champion sniffers - even by dog standards. While each dog is, of course, more than the sum of its parts, there is some truth to the affectionate description of bloodhounds as "noses with attached dogs." The entire body of the Bloodhound is designed in order to make it better to find and detect such odors.

Basset Hounds and Coonhounds also have powerful noses and great reputations for tracking scents. A quick look at these breeds reveals several other common features, like long ears, droopy cheeks, and lots of wrinkles.

Why Do Bloodhounds Have Long Ears?

Bloodhounds, Basset Hounds, and Coonhounds share a number of traits, but their long, lop-eared ones are among the most distinctive. You would think that a dog with such large ears would have excellent hearing - and you would be right. But bloodhounds and their relatives also rely on their ears for their sense of smell.

If you look closely, you may notice that the Bloodhound's ears are set lower on the head than most other dog ears. This makes them hang down and look even longer than they really are. The ears of Basset Hounds and Coonhounds also hang low, so when these dogs are on the trail, their floppy ears are dragged along the ground.

Dragging ears act like dust-brooms for scents, stirring up any of the invisible particles that make up the trail, and then sweeping those scented particles onto the dog's powerful nose.

What about wrinkles?

recognize their distinctive Droopy look with their low-hanging cheeks and from the folds of skin below their chins, called dewlap. Coonhounds also have a dewlap, and their cheeks will be loose, but not quite like running around. Bloodhounds are everything - saggy cheeks, dewlap, and large, loose wrinkles around the face and neck. All of these wrinkles can be adorable, but they are also an important part of how these dogs actually work.

When a dog's ears pick up scent particles and sweep them up, some of these particles get trapped in wrinkles around the dog's neck and face, which allows the dog to carry around a handy guide to the scent trail he is following.

The next time someone asks you “why do bloodhounds have long ears?” you can tell them “better sniff you my dear!”

Incredible facts

Did you know that each person has unique not only fingerprints, but also auricles.

In physiognomy, the ears represent your health and destiny at the age of 1 to 14 years. The right ear is an indicator of fate from 8 to 14 years, and the left from 0 to 7 years.

In addition, all earlobes can be divided into two types: free and adherent. If you have never paid attention to this, feel the tip of your earlobe - is it attached to the head or not?

Now look at the following image and answer which option is more similar to yours.

Ear character

1. Loose earlobe - generous and independent

If your earlobes hang freely, you are a free person, not very attached and not trying to live up to the expectations of society. You let life take its course and know that everything will work out in the end.

Despite your independence, you maintain close relationships with your narrow circle of people. People with loose earlobes devote themselves to only the most important people and things. You definitely live at your own pace, but you can't be called insensitive.

You always think about others and are ready to give a lot for the sake of your loved ones.

2. Attached earlobe - confident and purposeful

If your earlobes are connected, then you can be called a person who is deep in himself. You are well aware of all your actions and how they can affect others. Nothing escapes your gaze, you pay attention to everything that is happening around. You are confident in your decisions, and your eyes are always directed to the future.

However, there is one danger: you have a tendency to always assume that your opinion is correct. Try to listen to other people's opinions and try to look at everything from the other person's point of view.

Ear size

Big ears are a sign of vitality and longevity. The owners of such ears are lively and energetic. They are more willing to take risks than those with small ears. If your friend has big ears, then he or she is more likely to be a good listener.

People who have small ears are cautious, thoughtful, self-absorbed, but quite purposeful.

Ears of medium size indicate that a person finds a golden mean between risk and fear. At the same time, a person whose ears are noticeably different in size may experience many ups and downs in their life.

Ear shape

Rounded ears indicate a sociable, positive person with a rich imagination.

Slightly square ears indicates that you are practical, quick-witted, perceptive and capable of doing several things at the same time.

If the upper part of the ear is pointed , then such a person is secretive and mysterious. It takes a very long time to get to know this person better.

The protruding shape of the ears speaks of the independent nature of a person who does not like to be told what to do. People with this type of ear are stubborn and rarely take advice from others. However, these people easily attract money.

Ear arrangement

People with high-set ears (the ears are above the tip of the nose and end at the eyebrows) quickly grasp information, while people with with low-lying ears (the ears are below the eyebrows and the tip of the nose) absorb information more slowly.

Long ears (earlobes are located below the tip of the nose and the top is above the eyebrows) are a sign of genius.

As a rule, the ears are slightly inclined (the upper part of the ear is slightly further than the earlobe), but if the angle of inclination is large enough, its owner is adamant and likes to control others.

Pinna curl

People with rounded pinna need mental stimulation. They are energetic and love to have a good time.

People with fine curl are impulsive, highly enthusiastic and extroverted by nature.

If the curl is very thin , the person will always be concerned about the questions of humanity as a whole.

Earlobes

Long earlobes are an indication of a long and healthy life. They also say that the person is endowed with an excellent sense of understanding and judgment.

People with thick earlobes have many friends. They are hardworking, and their well-being tends to grow over the years. Women with thick earlobes are lucky in marriage and bring wealth to their husbands.

In general, very large earlobes is a sign of spiritual development and high status. If you have long and large earlobes , you will have incredible luck. You know how to enjoy life, and everything in life will be easy for you. Even if you get into trouble, they will always come to your aid.

Human health in the ears

  • Ears of harmonious shape and size indicate good heredity and a strong immune system.

  • Too hot or red ears (even if symptoms appear suddenly and for a short time) may indicate problems with blood pressure and vascular disorders of the nervous system. People who often have burning ears are prone to aggression and react quickly to any external changes.

  • Cold and pale ears may be a sign of dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, low blood pressure, general weakness and reduced brain activity.

  • A bluish tint to the ears may indicate heart failure (even if other signs are not yet present), pulmonary and bronchial diseases.

  • Pay attention to dark red or blue ears , which may be the result of diseases of the stomach and intestines, pancreas or liver.

  • If the skin of the ears becomes shiny with brown or dark red spots (a sign of an imbalance of minerals in the body), this indicates general fatigue and problems with the intestines.

  • If the ears are like pads (soft and thick) , the person has a tendency to become obese and mentally impaired.

  • When there are many folds and wrinkles on the ears , this indicates a predisposition to diseases of the heart and blood vessels, including atherosclerosis, heart attack and diabetes.
