I’ve always loved a good deal. Coupons and free shipping are my jam. And if something is totally free…sign me up! Today, I’ve compiled a list of free stuff for kids! I hope you find some amazing free things that your child will love!

I’ve organized these free items into three sections. First, there are items that you can receive in the mail or online for free. Next, you will find free printables and activities for kids. And lastly, there are some freebies for kids that you can seek out locally!

1) Free Letter from Mickey and Friends – Your child can write a letter to Mickey or Minnie, or their favorite Disney character and they will send your little one a letter back. What fun free mail for kids! Find more details here about writing a letter at Disney Dream Co.

2) LEGO® Life Magazine Is Free! If you have a kid between the ages of 5 and 9, you can get them a FREE subscription to LEGO® Life Magazine. It’s full of free kids stuff like comics, activities, sneak peaks & the latest LEGO news. My son LOVES getting his in the mail each quarter. 

3) Free Pass to National Parks – If you have a 4th grader – be sure to print out your free pass to get free admission into a National Park this year! 7) Board Books – Free baby stuff – You can find free kids books for babies and toddlers (just pay for shipping!) from Babsy Books. Visit Mom Money Map for the coupon code and details on this free gift. What incredible baby freebies!

Let’s move on to….

1) Free Workshops – Home Depot hosts free kid workshops every month. They offer free kits for kids to build free toys or small objects. Check your local store. Find the details on these special events here on the Home Depot site.

2) Geocaching – If you are looking for a great way to get out with your kids and explore, try geocaching! If you’ve never heard of it, watch this short video about geocaching! What a great way to get some free family fun!

3) Kids Bowl Free – Children can get two free bowling games each day, all summer long through this program! Check out the details about Kids Bowl Free here.

4) Birthday Freebies – Many restaurants give out free birthday stuff! You might find a local restaurant that gives discounts on a birthday meal, a free appetizer, a free sample, free food, a free cupcake, cookies or free dessert! Check out the birthday freebie list here. (Be sure to check with your local stores to see if they participate).

Also, subscribe to your favorite children’s stores email lists or mailing list, as often you are given discounts or freebies during your child’s birthday month. Not a bad trade for an email address.

5) Good Grades Rewards – Similarly, many restaurants give freebies to kids with excellent report card grades! You can find all kinds of cool free things for kids. Here’s the freebies for good grades!

6) Community Calendars – Be sure to check your local community calendars for free live music (often in a local park), free events, and very often great freebies are found at this events. Your local library may have a program as well for kids which can provide a great time of learning or bonding with your child.

Many local libraries even have free passes to art galleries, zoos, and museums. Definitely worth looking into!

1) Learn a Foreign Language with Duolingo – With Duolingo, your child can learn a foreign language for free. What an amazing way to learn a valuable skill!

2) Learn Graphic Design with Canva – Canva is a free program for graphic design. Your child can create coloring pages, printables, invitations and more. My 10 year old loves to play around with the program, changing colors, fonts, adding text boxes and photos.

3) Learn Keyboarding/Typing Skills – Teach your child keyboarding skills with the free typing program at typing.com. They make learning to type fun!

4) Learn Simple Programming – On code.org your child can learn simple coding skills while having loads of fun! What a great way to learn a very marketable skill!

Free Books in the Mail for Kids

Okay, the first thing that I want to cover is free books. Kids love stories and encouraging literacy and a love of reading early on is so important.

Luckily, there are a lot of places where kids can get free kid’s books in the mail.

Here are some places that offer free books for kids.

1. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a wonderful organization that mails out free books to kids. Through the program, kids can have books mailed to them from birth until they begin school. The program is only available in participating areas so do check the website (linked above) to see if you can get books from the program in your area.

2. Braille Books from American Action Fund

If your child is blind, then you could get free books from the Braille Books program from American Action Fund. The program provides blind children with a free Braille book every month from a popular children’s reading series. The program has delivered more than 318 titles from popular children’s reading series’ to thousands of blind children since 1997.

3. Fresh Fiction

If you don’t mind leaving a review, you could get your kids free books in exchange for reviews from Fresh Fiction. The website features a huge range of books for all ages that you can review. This includes books for children. You can get both hard copies and digital copies of books. Just create a review, and it will be posted on the Fresh Fiction website.

4. LibraryThing

LibraryThing gives away free books and offers books in exchange for reviews. There are books on offer for all ages, with review copies of children’s books often listed.

5. PaperBackSwap

If you are looking to get some free children’s books, then check out PaperBackSwap. This website is an online book swapping community where you can trade the books you don’t want, for ones that you do want.

Basically, you list a book that you want to swap with other members. Then, if your book is requested, you mail it to the person who requested it. Then, in return, you can choose a book from the 1.7 million books available on the platform. Sure, you have to pay to ship the book that you send out, but the postage for the books you receive is already paid. You can keep the book you get or swap it again for another title.

It’s a great way to refresh your child’s library. There are lots of children’s books available in a variety of genres on the site, and both paperbacks and hardbacks are on offer.

Free Bookmarks for Kids

Kids can keep track of where they’re up to in their latest read with a free bookmark. Yes, you can get bookmarks for kids at no cost! Most of them are found online, so you will just need to print them out, but there are a few places that mail out free bookmarks to kids.

Disney Family used to offer free bookmarks featuring some of their most beloved cartoon characters.  These feature characters like Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Unfortunately, they seem to have discontinued it. But if you like to DIY, Marcie & the Mouse has a great DIY tutorial for creating your own free Disney bookmarks. Plus you can make it even more fun by having your kids helping you create the bookmarks.

7. Harry Potter Bookmarks

Kids of all ages like Harry Potter, which is why these Harry Potter themed bookmarks are so awesome. They feature quotes from the books and adorable designs!

If you’re looking for some fun free things to do that you and your kids can really enjoy, then this is the section for you. Below, I’ve listed some free fun things that are great for kids, and many are awesome for the whole family!

Whether it’s art or history, kids can enjoy learning about lots of different subjects at museums. Thankfully, there are also a lot of free museums near you.

Kids can get free DIY workshops from Home Depot. These are free live-streaming and digital workshops where the store’s expert associates can help you to take on projects, learn how your home works, and more. You can sign up online on the website linked above.

With Kids Bowl Free, you can sign your children up for 2 free games of bowling each day during the summer!

Free Coloring Books & Pages for Kids

Kids love coloring books, so why not get them some for free? You can find free coloring pages for kids as well as coloring books. Some are available online so you will have to print them out. But, you can also get a free coloring book in the mail.

14. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Coloring Page

Since most children love Disney movies, this coloring page that features Snow White and the Seven Dwarves is sure to be a hit!

15. Sesame Street Fire Safety Coloring and Activities Booklet from U.S. Fire Administration

The U.S. Fire Administration is offering a fire safety coloring and activities booklet for children who are 3 to 5 years old. You can order a copy online and have it mailed to you for free. Or you can read it online and download it and print it out instead.

16. Bee A Scientist Coloring Book from Natural Inquirer

You can get a free Bee A Scientist Coloring Book from the Natural Inquirer. It provides an English version and a Spanish version. The coloring book offers a basic introduction to different types of scientists.

Free Educational Apps for Kids

Educational apps can help teach kids about everything from math to the alphabet. In this section, I’ll be covering some great learning apps for kids that are totally free!

17. Khan Academy

Offering 1,000s of educational books, activities, songs and games for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners, The Khan Academy is a great app for kids. This award-winning app features a cast of cute characters that guide children through lessons. Children can learn about a variety of subjects like math and reading.

18. Coolmath Games

On Coolmath Games, you can find a range of math, logic, thinking, and strategy games. And, there are new mini games added every week!

PBS KIDS Games is a really popular learning app for children that offers 100s of free educational games. This includes things like art games and math games. There are more than 200 curriculum-based games available for children aged 3 to 8 years old that are totally free!

20. ScratchJr

Coding is a useful skill to have nowadays, which is why ScratchJr is such an interesting app. It’s an app that teaches kids how to code. It’s an introductory programming language that enables children aged 5 and older to create their own interactive stories and games.

Children can snap together graphical programming blocks to make characters move, dance, jump, and sing. And, children can even modify characters, add sounds and voices and then use programming blocks to bring their characters to life.

You can consider making a donation to the Scratch Foundation if you want to, but the app is totally free to use.

21. Epic

Epic is a cool educational app that helps to improve children’s reading confidence. Using the app, which is designed for kids aged 12 and under, children can get access to a library of 1,000s of books, audiobooks, and learning videos. There’s a free version of the app and a paid version.

22. Piano Kids

For building musical skills Piano Kids is a great app. The app allows children to learn to play musical instruments, explore different sounds, and just develop their overall music skills. Kids can create melodies, learn to count, learn the alphabet, solve puzzles, learn to paint, learn to draw, and more with the app as well.

Free Printable Games for Kids

Okay, so if you want your kids to spend less time looking at screens, then consider printable games. You simply print them out and your kids can enjoy playing them – all with good old-fashioned pen and paper!

Mr. Printables offers some really cute word search puzzles that are great for children. They feature lots of different topics from farms to the sea. The best part is that they are so decorative and colorful, so they are sure to be a hit with children.

Puzzles-To-Print.com features some awesome sudoku puzzles for kids that you can print out for free. The puzzles are available as PDF files, and each file comes with a second page that includes the answers, which is always handy, right?

Make sure that you click on the “Easy Sudoku Puzzles” link on the page above to find puzzles that are great for kids because the site does also feature printable sudoku puzzles for adults.

25. Word Search Puzzles from Free-For-Kids.com

Get cool printable word search puzzles for kids from Free-For-Kids.com. There are puzzles available on a variety of topics, such as Road Dahl, Star Wars, and the weather.

Free eBooks for Kids

Aside from books in the mail, there are also a TON of free eBooks that you can get for your kids or toddlers. In this section, I’ll cover some awesome websites for finding free eBooks for children.

26. Amazon

Amazon is an excellent website for finding children’s books. These can be read on any device with a Kindle Cloud Reader installed, like tablets, desktop computers, and phones.

This is because there are many Kindle books on offer for free! Handily enough, Amazon splits its Bestsellers list into two sections: Top 100 Paid and Top 100 Free.

Click on the Top 100 Free section (or just follow the link in the section heading above!) and you can view tons of the site’s bestselling free kid’s books.

For free kid’s books, Goodreads is a great website. You can find a list of free eBooks for children aged 7 to 12 years old. This includes well-known titles, like Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss and The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Overall, it’s a great place to find quality books for children!

28. FreeChildrenStories.com

FreeChildrenStores.com has lots of kids’ stories for a variety of age groups from 3 to 5 to 8 to 10. The best part is that these stores are illustrated too, which kids always love!

29. FreeKidsBooks.org

FreeKidsBooks.org provides a selection of children’s books that you can download for free. You can get PDF versions of books or read titles online too. The site offers books for a range of age groups from toddlers to young adults.

30. Magic Keys

At Magic Keys, you can find illustrated children’s stories for kids of all ages.

31. NetGalley

NetGalley allows authors to give their readers prerelease copies of their books. So, you could get free digital children’s books from the site. You can find a variety of books for kids on offer in the Children’s Fiction and Children’s Non Fiction section.

In return for this free book, you will need to provide a review.

32. Read.gov

Read.gov is a government website from the Library of Congress that aims to promote literature and reading. The website offers lots of classic children’s books that they can read for free.

You can read titles like Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and Cinderella.

33. Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is an awesome website for free books offering more than 60,000 eBooks! There are tons of books for kids available on there that they can read for free! This includes well-known titles like the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol.

34. Children’s Books Online: The Rosetta Project

The Rosetta Project is a large collection of illustrated antique children’s books online. There are books available for all readings levels that can be read online for free.

35. International Children’s Digital Library

International Children’s Digital Library (ICDL) is a research project sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Microsoft Corporation, and Adobe Systems Incorporated.

The ICDL aims to create a library of children’s books from all over the world. Although it doesn’t have as many books in as many languages as it used to, it still offers more than 4,000 titles that can be read online for free.

36. Kids World Fun

Kids World Fun provides a selection of animated children’s books that can be read for free. And, you can either read them online, or you can downland books so that your child can read them whenever they want.

Free Worksheets for Kids

Worksheets are fun and educational, making them great for kids during school breaks, the weekend, or whenever you want to keep them entertained!

Here are some awesome free worksheets. All you need to do is print them out!

For rainy days, weekends, and school breaks, this elephant connect the dots worksheet is great and it’s free too!

If you’re looking to help your kids to learn math, then this handy first-grade math worksheet is ideal. With it, your child can practice finding numbers that are one more and one less than the number featured on each piece of candy, up to the number 20.

Free Games for Kids

Sometimes it can be tough to keep kids entertained! Especially during school breaks. That’s why the sites below are so great. They offer free online games! This includes board games, arcade games, and more.

Here are some great gaming sites for kids:

41. Tabletopia

There are more than 1,700 board games that kids can play for free at Tabletopia. It’s an awesome site for older kids in particular.

42. LEGO

LEGO offers some kid’s games that can be played for free. Examples include LEGO Ninjago: Prime Empire and ‎LEGO Friends Heartlake Rush.

43. Board Game Arena

Again, for older kids, Board Game Arena is a great site. It allows you to play thousands of board games from your browser for free! You can play with friends or players from around the world.

44. Cartoon Network Games

Cartoon Network Games is a great site for kids of all ages offering a variety of games like sports, action, arcade, and adventure games for kids.

Arkadium offers lots of games for older kids like solitaire and crossword puzzles and they are all totally free.

Kids can pledge to be one of the National Wildlife Federation’s Butterfly Heroes and get free seeds! You can plant these seeds and help butterflies to thrive. You can also get tips for gardening on your windowsill, porch, patio, or back yard.

Kids can get a free copy of LEGO Life Magazine. The magazine is for kids aged 5 to 9 years old and it includes comics, activities, posters, and lots of other engaging content. You can have the magazine delivered to your home 4 times a year.
