Local Fun Free Things For Kids1) Free Workshops ā Home Depot hosts free kid workshops every month. They offer free kits for kids to build free toys or small objects. Check your local store. Find the details on these special events here on the Home Depot site.
2) Geocaching ā If you are looking for a great way to get out with your kids and explore, try geocaching! If youāve never heard of it, watch this short video about geocaching! What a great way to get some free family fun!
3) Kids Bowl Free ā Children can get two free bowling games each day, all summer long through this program! Check out the details about Kids Bowl Free here.
4) Birthday Freebies ā Many restaurants give out free birthday stuff! You might find a local restaurant that gives discounts on a birthday meal, a free appetizer, a free sample, free food, a free cupcake, cookies or free dessert! 6) Community Calendars ā Be sure to check your local community calendars for free live music (often in a local park), free events, and very often great freebies are found at this events. Your local library may have a program as well for kids which can provide a great time of learning or bonding with your child.
Many local libraries even have free passes to art galleries, zoos, and museums. Definitely worth looking into!

2) Learn Graphic Design with Canva ā Canva is a free program for graphic design. Your child can create coloring pages, printables, invitations and more. My 10 year old loves to play around with the program, changing colors, fonts, adding text boxes and photos.
3) Learn Keyboarding/Typing SkillsĀ ā Teach your child keyboarding skills with the free typing program at typing.com. They make learning to type fun!
4) Learn Simple ProgrammingĀ ā On code.org your child can learn simple coding skills while having loads of fun! What a great way to learn a very marketable skill!

Free Books in the Mail for Kids
Okay, the first thing that I want to cover is free books. Kids love stories and encouraging literacy and a love of reading early on is so important.
Luckily, there are a lot of places where kids can get free kidās books in the mail.
Here are some places that offer free books for kids.
1. Dolly Partonās Imagination Library
Dolly Partonās Imagination Library is a wonderful organization that mails out free books to kids. Through the program, kids can have books mailed to them from birth until they begin school. The program is only available in participating areas so do check the website (linked above) to see if you can get books from the program in your area.
2. Braille Books from American Action Fund
If your child is blind, then you could get free books from the Braille Books program from American Action Fund. The program provides blind children with a free Braille book every month from a popular childrenās reading series. The program has delivered more than 318 titles from popular childrenās reading seriesā to thousands of blind children since 1997.
3. Fresh Fiction
If you donāt mind leaving a review, you could get your kids free books in exchange for reviews from Fresh Fiction. The website features a huge range of books for all ages that you can review. This includes books for children. You can get both hard copies and digital copies of books. Just create a review, and it will be posted on the Fresh Fiction website.
4. LibraryThing
LibraryThing gives away free books and offers books in exchange for reviews. There are books on offer for all ages, with review copies of childrenās books often listed.

5. PaperBackSwap
If you are looking to get some free childrenās books, then check out PaperBackSwap. This website is an online book swapping community where you can trade the books you donāt want, for ones that you do want.
Advertisements
Basically, you list a book that you want to swap with other members. Then, if your book is requested, you mail it to the person who requested it. Then, in return, you can choose a book from the 1.7 million books available on the platform. Sure, you have to pay to ship the book that you send out, but the postage for the books you receive is already paid. You can keep the book you get or swap it again for another title.
Itās a great way to refresh your childās library. There are lots of childrenās books available in a variety of genres on the site, and both paperbacks and hardbacks are on offer.
Free Bookmarks for Kids
Kids can keep track of where theyāre up to in their latest read with a free bookmark. Yes, you can get bookmarks for kids at no cost! Most of them are found online, so you will just need to print them out, but there are a few places that mail out free bookmarks to kids.

Disney Family used to offer free bookmarks featuring some of their most beloved cartoon characters.Ā These feature characters like Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. 20. ScratchJr
Coding is a useful skill to have nowadays, which is why ScratchJr is such an interesting app. Itās an app that teaches kids how to code. Itās an introductory programming language that enables children aged 5 and older to create their own interactive stories and games.
Children can snap together graphical programming blocks to make characters move, dance, jump, and sing. And, children can even modify characters, add sounds and voices and then use programming blocks to bring their characters to life.

Amazon is an excellent website for finding childrenās books. These can be read on any device with a Kindle Cloud Reader installed, like tablets, desktop computers, and phones.
This is because there are many Kindle books on offer for free! Handily enough, Amazon splits its Bestsellers list into two sections: Top 100 Paid and Top 100 Free.
Click on the Top 100 Free section (or just follow the link in the section heading above!) and you can view tons of the siteās bestselling free kidās books.

GoodreadsFor free kidās books, Goodreads is a great website. You can find a list of free eBooks for children aged 7 to 12 years old. This includes well-known titles, like Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss and The Complete Grimmās Fairy Tales. Overall, itās a great place to find quality books for children!

FreeChildrenStores.com has lots of kidsā stories for a variety of age groups from 3 to 5 to 8 to 10. The best part is that these stores are illustrated too, which kids always love!

FreeKidsBooks.org provides a selection of childrenās books that you can download for free. You can get PDF versions of books or read titles online too. The site offers books for a range of age groups from toddlers to young adults.
30. Magic Keys
At Magic Keys, you can find illustrated childrenās stories for kids of all ages.
31. NetGalley
NetGalley allows authors to give their readers prerelease copies of their books. So, you could get free digital childrenās books from the site. You can find a variety of books for kids on offer in the Childrenās Fiction and Childrenās Non Fiction section.

Read.gov is a government website from the Library of Congress that aims to promote literature and reading. The website offers lots of classic childrenās books that they can read for free.

The Rosetta Project is a large collection of illustrated antique childrenās books online. There are books available for all readings levels that can be read online for free.

International Childrenās Digital Library (ICDL) is a research project sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Microsoft Corporation, and Adobe Systems Incorporated.
The ICDL aims to create a library of childrenās books from all over the world. Although it doesnāt have as many books in as many languages as it used to, it still offers more than 4,000 titles that can be read online for free.

Recall that the history of the magazine began back in the distant 1871 . Under the leadership of writers Elena Apreleva and Julian Simashko , Family and School became one of the first pedagogical journals in Russia. Its main purpose was to provide guidance to teachers and parents in educational and upbringing activities . Well-known psychologists, teachers and writers worked on each issue. The authors raised the most exciting topics for teachers and parents. However, twice in its century and a half history - at the end of 19and the beginning of the 21st century - "Family and School" ceased to be published. Today the magazine is experiencing its third birth.
Now the magazine is published by the Institute of Education of the Russian Academy of Education with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. The publication is published once every three months.
