- The Princess and the Pea | Fairytale
"Princess and the Pea" is classic fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen gets good old amusement for your kids. Check out what happens when a choosy prince meets a young wonderful girl! Let us know in comments what video you want to see next. Once upon a time there was a prince who wanted to find a princess, but she would have to be a real princess. So he traveled all around the world to find one, but there was always something wrong. There were princesses enough, but he could never be sure that they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not quite right. So he came home again and was sad, for he so much wanted to have a real princess. One evening there was a terrible storm. It thundered and lightninged! The rain poured down! It was horrible! Then there was a knock at the city gate, and the old king went out to open it. A princess was standing outside. But my goodness, how she looked from the rain and the weather! Water ran down from her hair and her clothes. It ran into the toes of her shoes and out at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess. "Well, we shall soon find that out," thought the old queen. But she said nothing, went into the bedroom, took off all the bedding and laid a pea on the bottom of the bed. Then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then twenty featherbeds of eiderdown on top of the mattresses. That was where the princess was to sleep for the night. In the morning she was asked how she had slept. "Oh, horribly!" she said. "I hardly closed my eyes all night. Goodness knows what there was in the bed! I was lying on something hard, so that I am black and blue all over my body. It is horrible!" Now they could see that she was a real princess, because she had felt the pea right through the twenty mattresses and the twenty featherbeds. Nobody but a real princess could be that sensitive. So the prince took her for his wife, because now he knew that he had a real princess. And the pea was put in the art gallery where it can still be seen, unless someone has taken it. Now see, that was a real story!

30 cartoons that will help in school
Learning is never easy. But in order to make the process of mastering knowledge even a little more pleasant and positive, Tlum.Ru offers you a selection of cartoons that will help your child master school material.
We note that we looked at familiar cartoons from this point of view. There are very few educational animations for schoolchildren in Russian. There are, of course, the permanent excellent "Fixies", and "Smeshariki: Pin-Code", there are Soviet cartoons motivating to study and fighting laziness, and there are all the other cartoons in the world, among which you can find a lot of useful things.
Attention! Watching the following tapes will not replace your child's school curriculum. It will only help you come to terms with it and accept it. It's like extracurricular reading, only extracurricular cartoons.
HISTORY OF THE ANCIENT WORLD
What to see about early times: "Brother Bear"
An excellent Dineev cartoon about Paleo-Indians. These are those that lived on the territory of America in the era of the last ice age. The plot, of course, lacks fantasy, but the life-existence and beliefs of these peoples are shown reliably. And the bears are very believable.
What to watch with caution: "Ice Age" (as a reflection of the animal world of those times - yes, there is no historicity in the plot), "The Croods" (in terms of entourage and initial plot - yes, there is no historicity in the plot) , "Wild Ancestors" (as an ironic clash between the Stone Age and the Bronze Age - yes, the historicity is minimal).
What to see about dinosaurs: "The Land Before Time"
Don Bluth's classic cartoon about the friendliest dinosaurs in the world. After watching, the child will know for sure that the "long-necked" ones are different from the "three-horned ones", and you need to run away from the tyrannosaurs, but quickly. However, the latter fact is constantly reported even in works that are not directly related to dinosaurs. One way or another, the cartoon remains one of the best on the topic.
AND IT HAS 13 CONTINUES, BUT THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE STORY
What to watch with caution: "We're back! Dinosaur Story and Dinomama 3 D » — cartoons more about time travel, Disney’s Dinosaur and Pixar’s Good Dinosaur — optional, with minimal or no historicity.
What to see about Ancient Egypt: "Prince of Egypt" and "Princess of the Sun"
such free fantasies on the topic. Nevertheless, both cartoons are good and reflect the great era in their own way. "Prince of Egypt" is also religious, about the biblical Moses and with an Oscar for the best song. The lesser-known French "Princess of the Sun" tells the story of young Ahessa and her fiancé Tutankhamun, who set off in search of the girl's mother, Queen Nefertiti herself.
What to watch with caution: series "Tutankhamun" , "Egyptus" and other cartoons that use Ancient Egypt only as a beautiful entourage.
What to see about the ancient Incas: The Adventures of the Emperor But the cartoon is positive, instructive, so for a general understanding of the picture of the ancient world, it will do just fine. By the way, this is a rare animation in which the "fourth" wall is broken, that is, the impudent character communicates directly with the audience. It does not apply to the school curriculum, but the fact is entertaining.
This and other cartoons about heroes that the villains are actually
What to see about ancient oceania: “Moana”
and here everything is very authentic. When creating the cartoon, Disney employees traveled to Polynesia, collected information, copied and were actively inspired. In terms of the plot, of course, this is a fairy tale, but the life and way of life of the ancient island peoples can be considered in great detail. And rejoice for the most daring non-princess, of course.
What to see about ancient China: "The Tale of Princess Kaguya"
A magnificent and very leisurely cartoon is just a collection of everything ancient Chinese. Here is the most delicate drawing in the style of engravings, and a classic story about a heavenly princess who grew up among people. Isao Takahata's tape will clearly show your student how people lived and what they valued in that era. Spoiler: wealth and power.
More to see: based on real events bright " Mulan" (and the upcoming film too), a film adaptation of the Chinese epic about the Monkey King (it's like our Russian folk tales, only China). What to see about Ancient Greece: Hercules But still, this is already a Disney classic, and rather forgotten. Hey Hollywood, when is the feature film based on "Hercules" something?
What else to see: Soviet cartoons from the series "Legends and Myths of Ancient Greece", such as "Hercules at Admet", "Prometheus" and others.
What to see about the ancient Celts: The Secret of Kells and The Brave
museum in Dublin. It is also mixed in here: elements of folklore, the finest art of drawing, and even something about religion, albeit only briefly. In any case, this is an excellent representation of 19th century Ireland. from the "European Miyazaki" Tomm Moore.
Well, Brave is another fairy tale executed with love for details. Ah, those Scottish landscapes! More detailed costumes! Reliable decoration of the castle! Let's keep silent about the controversial plot, perhaps.
What to watch with caution: everything about Asterix and Obelix (you can take out useful things about the endless wars between the Gauls and the Romans, but in general there is no historicity).
What to see about the Vikings: How to Train Your Dragon
Yes, we know, we know, the criterion about historicity here can simply be turned off. But wait, minus the dragons, the life of this proud fighting people is portrayed in the DreamWorks franchise at a good level, filled with sheep and one-legged heroes. Yes, and about dragons, we are not sure who was or was not there, to say for sure ... Oh, yes, judging by the available spoilers, in the upcoming third part, the Vikings will finally separate from the world of dragons, and everything can fall into their purely historical places .
What to watch with caution: "Thor: Legend of the Vikings" , a very passing cartoon, and the Danish animated series "Valhalla" of 1986 - an unknown, but for lack of competitors, a good fantasy on the theme of Scandinavian mythology.
History of the Middle Ages and New Time
What to see about the Middle Ages: “Legend of Prince Valiant”
Knights and tournaments, princesses and dragons, majestic locks and dark forests - the Middle Ages today is adopted by an excessive century. romanticize, and we will not delve into the causes and consequences of this trend. And we’ll just recommend a good animated series from 90s about the era of King Arthur with all the necessary components of the "correct" fantasy. And do not forget to explain to your students that in this time of unsanitary conditions and cruelty, life was not very cool.
Other things to watch: The Sword in the Stone and The Black Cauldron from Disney, and, for example, Spice and Wolf from a good, authentic anime minus the werewolf heroine. Even the music there is close to that time! In general, almost any fantasy will go through the topic in one way or another.
11 facts that you need to know about the anime before turning the nose
What to see on the history of the New Age: “Giraffe”
Meet another cartoon based on real events of the time of the Greek revolution (1820s). The real giraffe Zarafa really became a gift from the French monarchy so that they would stop sponsoring the Greeks in the war with the Ottoman Empire. An interesting touch to the school curriculum on history, which will be nice to watch - the cartoon is really good.
What else to see in the history of modern times: "Balto"
A very romanticized and embellished, but extremely successful cartoon about the Great Mercy Race of 1925. We remember: a small town in Alaska, a diphtheria epidemic and a brave team making its way through the snow with the cherished medicine. And the monument to Balto is the most real!
What to see about World War II: Grave of the Fireflies
Beware, this is very sad . And vital. And scary. In general, the Japanese filmed a lot of nightmarishly sad anime about the war, and Studio Ghibli's "Grave of the Fireflies" was completely included in the compulsory school curriculum. That is, yes, the children there are crying over the characters of the tape, and then they watch " My Neighbor Totoro" , for contrast. And another portal recently announced the best cartoon of all time, and the result is in front of you.
More to see: anime Barefoot Gen, In This Corner of the World, The Wind Rises, Giovanni's Island and many more.
What to see about the Cold War: "The Steel Giant"
An early cartoon by Brad Bird, the creator of both The Incredibles and Ratatouille, seems to be about a big good alien, but in fact there is a lot about arms race between the USA and the USSR. Just two in one: the child will join the cult cartoon and at the same time see the Americans' view of the difficult relations between our countries in the post-war period.
HISTORY OF RUSSIA
What to see about ancient times: Prince Vladimir Some characters and events in the plot are real, but there is more than enough fictional and remade. Perhaps, "Prince Vladimir" is more a fantasy on the epic image of the ruler than an understanding of his true historical figure. However, the cartoon is suitable, and it can help to get a general idea of the era. The main thing is not to retell the plot later in the lesson.
What to watch with caution: "The Tale of Peter and Fevronia" as a romanticized life of the saints, but the cycle about "Three Bogatyrs" from the point of view of the country's history should be considered rather in an entertaining way. Soyuzmultfilm cartoons - yes, for example, Ilya Muromets and Nightingale the Robber.
What else to see about the history of Russia: "Fortress: With Shield and Sword"
Of course, in this case, with amendments for minimal correspondence to real history. But here's what is important and unusual: here is not another pathetic moment for you, but the battle near Smolensk 1609th, which we lost and about which we prefer not to remember once again. And here is a whole cartoon! Mentally remove the fantastic component, and you get a not-so-bad representation of those events. And nicely drawn, by the way.
What to see about Soviet times: "Anastasia"
We recommend it rather because the cartoon is beautiful and worthy of viewing, and not because it somehow tries to match the story. The sad reality is merciless: the princess died during the execution of the royal family. But the “false Anastasius” was really enough, and as an illustration of the human dream that someone managed to survive in those tragic events, it has an honorable place to be. By the way, after the Disney studio bought the Fox studio, Anastasia in some way becomes a Disney princess, although she was created by Don Bluth as an oppositional answer to the “house of mice”.
GEOGRAPHY
What to see about the great geographical discoveries: Pocahontas and Spirit: Soul of the Prairie
relationships You probably already knew about "Pocahontas", but take note of the horse cartoon "Spirit" - the picture of the confrontation is very clearly shown, excellently voiced and looks in one breath. And what kind of music is there!
Other things to watch: The Road to Eldorado as a visit to Mesoamerica, Far North as an insight into the harsh atmosphere of brave people discovering the North Pole, and the series Once Upon a Time there were Discoverers as a chic opus everything a student needs to know about the topic.
What to see about the geography of Russia: "Mountain of Gems" and "Multi-Russia"
With these wonderful animated series, your student will surely learn something from the incredible diversity of our country. Same here - "Lullabies of the World" , which will give you an idea of the most different countries of the planet piece by piece.
What to see about the Middle East: The Getter
This year's Oscar nominee, produced by Angelina Jolie and created by Cartoon Saloon of Ireland. Terribly indicative of the situation in Afghanistan, with total patriarchy and strict rules. Watch with caution, because it is very shaking.
Other things to watch: "The Prophet" as a philosophical film about Lebanon, "Persipolis" and "Waltz with Bashir" for those who are a little older.
What to see about US geography: "Up" and "The Princess and the Frog" reflect the rebellious spirit of New Orleans. By the way, the house can really be lifted into the air with the help of balloons, watch the video on the topic. As for the Louisiana black princess, even the voodoo magic of those times is shown very authentically.
15 Real places in the Pixar cartoons
What to see about Mexico: “Secret Coco” and “Book of Life”
and again two in one: before you are a couple of truly high -quality, qualitative, a couple beautiful and useful cartoons, which at the same time display the culture of the Mexican people in the most understandable way for children. Day of the Dead, but not terrible, but joyful. Family is the most important thing, but not obsessively, but naturally. Music as a lifestyle and vocation, love for one's neighbor as part of the personality. We strongly recommend both!
Biology
What to see about bacteria and anatomy: “Osmosis Jones”
Multfilm with the Higher Bill Murrey at one time failed at the rental, but as a manifesting excursion to the human body, it is very very very curious. In the end, watching a cartoon about the battle between beneficial and harmful bacteria inside the body is more fun for any student than listening to a teacher's explanation. And if both, then the material will definitely be learned as it should.
What to see about the fauna: "Leo and Tig" (Primorsky Territory), "Silver Horse" (Australia), "The Lion King" (Africa), "Madagascar" (Madagascar).
With Africa and Madagascar, we think everything is clear. The listed tapes can really fix in the already overloaded brains of a child an approximate list of animals that live there (just do not forget to remind you that penguins are not found in Madagascar ) . "Leo and Tig" is our domestic animated series entirely about the nature of Primorsky Krai, and "Silver Horse" is a good old cartoon about the nature of Australia, both of them are recommended for viewing by themselves, and as a guide to the local fauna.
English
What to see the Language Language: “Mazzi”
We tried not to take boring and purely educational cartoons (they are boring and purely educational), but Mazzi is unequivocally worthy of his place in the compilation.
