    Worth Watching

Ah, yes, "The Good Night Show" I remembered this.

Anyhoo, "The Good Night Show" is definitely one of the more better children's shows in terms of its educational value, sense of fun and memorable theme songs. Unlike many other educational children's television shows, "The Good Night Show" is bearable for older people (That is, parents and older siblings) to watch with youngsters. Granted that "Good Night Show" could be just another hyperactive, over-the-top and God awful children's show (That is, "Playschool"), "the Good Night Show" is clean, shiny, safe, suburban fun and it isn't migraine inducing.

So, to conclude, "The Good Night Show" is a great, clean and fun show that I'd highly recommend for parents to let their youngsters watch.

Hi everyone! It’s been a long time since I’ve posted but I’M BACK! And I’m super excited to share my latest project, Story Time With Michele! I’ve had so many fans reach out to me over the past year recounting special, touching family memories involving The Good Night Show. Thank you for continuing to share those stories with me. Sadly, I can’t bring the show back since it was never mine in the first place. I have, however, figured out a way to stay connected to children in a meaningful way.  The Story Time channel on Youtube is my first attempt at creating something, on my very own, for kids.

So, why am I reading books aloud? As a mom, reading is a priority for my family. I am very passionate about the importance of literacy. Did you know that 25 million children in the US cannot read proficiently? This is such a disappointing fact and thankfully there are non-profit organizations like Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) who are fighting everyday to help our kids!

For me, I have always loved reading books and I work hard to nurture that same love in my young children. By sharing stories aloud I hope your kids will be encouraged to read more books and become little bookworms as they grow up!

These stories are meant for anyone wanting a sweet, soothing story read to them – who doesn’t like that?! Beyond the enjoyment of having a story read to you, here are a few more reasons why I’ve launched Story Time With Michele:

    • Reading aloud is an ideal way to model how to read language, by demonstrating when to pause and react to punctuation, for example.
    • It promotes early literacy skills, engages young minds by encouraging curiosity, builds memory, and can even increase attention spans in our little ones.
    • Children are exposed to a richer vocabulary which will help stretch comprehension and language development.

There’s tons of research out there showing us that reading aloud to a child daily is one of the most important activities you can do to ensure future reading success. I hope my short videos are enjoyed by your family and, in conjunction with your time spent reading aloud, together we can spark a life-long love of books!

Please check out Story Time With Michele and subscribe to the channel while you’re there!

First off, THANK YOU to all the loyal Good Night Show fans whose love for the show has led you to follow and support me!

I couldn’t be more proud of those 10 years I got to bring Nina to life, and am honored to have been invited into your homes night after night! It is truly a privilege. Being a mom of 2 littles, I know how special and intimate that nighttime snuggle is. The fact that millions of you included Star and Me (and our pals Hush and Lucy!) into that safe space is more than I could have ever hoped for.

Some of you have children who no longer watch, but many have had new babies along the way and still tune in. You have noticed that the show is no longer airing on TV in its traditional format, because, as with everything (including our children!), the network is growing and evolving. Fortunately, this is NOT a good-bye!

Sprout is in the process of moving full Good Night Show episodes to their On Demand menu. This is seriously a dream come true for me, and hopefully for you as well! Now you can determine when exactly you want to snuggle up on the couch and watch your favorite segments of GNS before it’s time to wrap up your bedtime routine.

Keep in mind that Nina’s World will remain right where it’s at – and, in case you hadn’t heard, we have been green-lit for a second season and are working hard on bringing new episodes to life!

I remain humbled by your love and support!

    xo

    Categories Diary64 Comments on Welcome!

I’ve been wanting to start a blog for some time now but I don’t want this to be just any blog.  I really hope this can be an opportunity for a conversation, a chance to meet new people, a way to share advice…basically I hope this turns into much more than just a boring blog about how hard it is to raise two kids and what I cooked for dinner last night! There will be plenty of time for that too 🙂

So I’m asking you to create this blog with me! Of course I can’t wait to hear about your kids (and hopefully how much they love The Good Night Show) but I also want to hear your advice and your experiences and if you have a question…ask it! Maybe I can help or someone else in our little community can.   I especially hope we can help each other get through this thing called life with a big smile on our faces!

I’ll tell you a little about myself and don’t be shy…you tell me a little about yourself too!

First and foremost I’m mama to 2 little girls – Gia 2 1/2 and Bianca 7 months, wife and partner to Poncho for almost 15 years, and actress/host of The Good Night Show on Sprout. It’s quite an adventure trying to keep up with these 2 while attempting to get settled in to a new home!  One of my favorite things in the world is hearing my girls laugh so hard they start to hiccup!  My second favorite is probably when they both nap at the same time!! LOL!  A few more things you should know: I try not to take myself too seriously, I love to find the humor in all things, I procrastinate too much, and I have a terrible memory.  OK there’s so much more to share, but if I said it all now there wouldn’t be anything to blog about tomorrow (or next week.  Remember what I said about procrastinating!)

    xo,

"Good night, little ones!" - the transfer is beloved and legendary. Its first viewers have already become grandparents themselves. The first issue was released on the Soviet screen on September 1, 1964. Vladimir Ukhin - "Uncle Volodya" - the first host of this program. He, along with Valentina Leontyeva, Tatyana Vedeneeva, Angelina Vovk, became native to many Soviet families. Let's tell you what happened to these and other favorite hosts of the program "Good night, kids!". Heroes' ages are as of June 2022.

    1. Vladimir Ukhin - Uncle Volodya

    • Year of death: 2012 (age 81)
    • Years of work in the program: 1964 - 1995

Vladimir Ukhin's kind smile and open, bright face attracted the kids. The host fell in love with them immediately. In 1960, Vladimir received a diploma from the pop department of GITIS and began working as an announcer - he abandoned acting, starring in just a few films. At 19In 1964, he was entrusted with the conduct of Good Night, Kids!, which became very, very popular. He was the host of the children's show until 1995. Over the years, he also hosted “Village Hour”, “Merry Notes”, and in the 1970s he worked in Japan on the “We Speak Russian” series of programs. Vladimir Ukhin had problems with addiction to alcohol, but he successfully coped with them.

One of the most wonderful hosts of the children's show had no children for a long time, although he really wanted to become a dad. Only at 19In 92, fate gave him a gift. In his second marriage, his son Ivan was born.

In the late 1990s, Uncle Volodya's health deteriorated greatly. He suffered two strokes, poor health and a sharp deterioration in memory put an end to further work. He died from a third stroke on April 12, 2012.

Vladimir Ukhin, without suspecting it, helped to discover the talent of another host of the Good Night, Kids! program. But more on that later.

    2. Valentina Leontieva - aunt Valya

    • Year of death: 2007 (age 83)
    • Years of work in the program: 1964 - 1990s
Valentina Leontieva. Photo: 1tv.ru/“Valentina Leontieva. Declaration of love.

For many kids of that Soviet era, it was "Aunt Valya" who became the most beloved host, having managed to find the key to children's hearts. She received thousands of letters from children all over the country. There is a legend that once an envelope was brought to her, on which in the address field it was written "TV, Aunt Valya." And the letter arrived! The kid in this letter asked his beloved presenter never to go on vacation. Other guys in their letters sent drawings, told about themselves, said hello to Phil, Stepashka and Khryusha. They say that Valentina Ivanovna kept these letters in huge boxes all her life.

Valentina Leontyeva's talent also manifested itself in another program - in the summer of 1972, the program "With all my heart" went on the air, which was expected to be incredibly popular. The program became the peak of her creativity.

In the 1990s, a difficult period began in the life of a TV presenter. Programs with her participation were closed, and no new proposals were received. Problems were added by discord with his son, who almost did not communicate with his mother. Perhaps due to the fact that she preferred work to her family.

In the last years of her life, Valentina Leontyeva began to have serious health problems. She had an unfortunate fall in her apartment and broke her leg, she could no longer go outside. Then she began to lose her sight. In 2007, the TV presenter's condition worsened so much that she did not get out of bed. Passed away May 20, 2007. The cause of death, according to her sister Lyudmila, was pneumonia. The son did not attend his mother's funeral.

    • Age: 68
    • Program years: 1977 - 1980s
Tatyana Vedeneeva. Photo: social networks of the actress, Larisa Kudryavtseva

Tatyana Vedeneeva is very well remembered by those who are now from 30 to 40+. Aunt Tanya gave the boys and girls from this generation a lot of interesting stories and vivid emotions. She was like a mother - beautiful, kind and affectionate. Without exaggeration, Tatyana Vedeneeva has become a cult host of a cult program. At 19In the 90s, she was left without airs, but did not give up and went into business - she set up the production of sauces. In the 90s, the TV star of the Jew, along with her husband and son in France. At that time, she rejected the offer to become the host of the show "I myself", the place went to Yulia Menshova.

    4. Angelina Vovk – aunt Lina

    • Age: 79 years old

Angelina Vovk. Photo: angelinavovk.rf, Boris Kudryavov

Angelina Vovk worked as an announcer on Central Television, but by her own admission, she could not keep a serious expression on the whole broadcast - he was lit up with a smile. For a serious program, this was unacceptable, but for a children's program, it was just right. By the way, it was she who became the presenter, whom Vladimir Ukhin helped to be with Khryusha and Stepashka. Somehow he was late for the broadcast and Angelina Vovk replaced him. Since then, she became Aunt Lina for two decades. Young viewers fell in love with the new presenter and were looking forward to her appearance on the screen.

In the 1990s, when the whole country was going through hard times, Good Night, Kids! was in danger of being closed. Angelina Vovk was not afraid to ask for help from the bankers who hosted the corporate party. The businessmen gave money for repairs in the studio, new scenery and puppets. So she helped the children who loved this program. But she has no children of her own.

Angelina Vovk is also known as the host of the program "Morning Post", the musical show "Song of the Year". Hobbies of "Aunt Lina" are winter swimming and skiing, and she got up on them at the age of 60.

    • Age: 66 years old
    • Years of work in the program: 1980s - 1990s
Yuri Grigoriev. Photo: "Actor's Fates" (TV Center)

"Uncle Yura" was one of the funniest presenters. The actor acted in films, played in the theater, but the real success came to him in this children's program. The children fell in love with him for his funny jokes and kindness. He often toured the country and met with his little fans, always remaining charming and cheerful.

After their "Good night, kids!" he continued to play in films and theater, and hosted various programs on TV. In a word, it has always been in demand. Yuri Grigoriev is married and has a daughter.

Tatyana Sudets. Photo: "Actor's Fates" (TV Center), Boris Kudryavov

Tatyana Sudets became the first "Aunt Tanya", she appeared on the air in front of Tatyana Vedeneeva. She hosted the show for 25 years. All the kids of the Soviet Union were waiting for her appearance before going to bed, and then they fell asleep with a heroic dream. Of the puppet characters, she liked Piggy more than others. According to Tatyana Sudets, he was just as restless and disobedient, but kind and inquisitive, like all boys.

In the post-perestroika years, from the mid-1980s, Tatyana Sudets worked on cable television, then taught at the Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting. At the beginning of the 2000s, she revealed her talent and, as a singer, she recorded a solo album. She was the heroine of the program "Perfect Repair".

But in Tatyana's life, not everything was perfect. She was married three times. Son from his first marriage - Andrei at the age of 24, at 1992, was killed by robbers. She now has a daughter and two grandchildren.

    • Age: 73 years old
    • Years of work in the program: 1990s
Yuri Nikolaev. Photo: globallookpress, Boris Kudryavov

The well-known presenter, familiar to all viewers from the Morning Mail program, appeared in the quiet in the early 1990s. Winning the love of young viewers, whose mothers and fathers had already fallen in love with the presenter, was not easy, but Uncle Yura did it. Millions of boys and girls of Russia doted on him. His charming smile was unbelievable.

After "Skopa night, kids!" Yuri Nikolaev produced major television projects, hosted the music and dance shows "Dancing on Ice" and "Dancing with the Stars" and others. Yuri Nikolaev had so much energy that he had plenty of it even after television broadcasts, and he enjoyed skiing, tennis and even piloting a sports plane. Yuri Nikolaev has no children of his own.

    8. Hmayak Hakobyan - Rakhat Lukumych

    • Age: 65
    • Program years: 1990s – early 2000s
Hmayak Hakobyan. Photo: frame from the Good Night, Kids! program, Ivan Makeev

By the time he first appeared as the host of the Good Night, Kids! program, Hmayak Hakobyan was a famous illusionist. Working for a children's audience was not new to him. The little spectators liked his bright outfit - an oriental robe and a magician's turban. The name also corresponded to the bright outfit - Rakhat Lukumych . Hmayak Hakobyan greeted the young spectators very ornately: “I am happy to see you again, oh, my radiant friends!” And all the boys and girls knew his magic spell "sim-salavim-akhalai-mahalai".

The artist does not advertise his personal life. It is known that he was married three times, but unsuccessfully for himself. He has a son, Philip, who now lives in the United States. The illusionist did not take part in raising his son. In 2005, the artist's father died, and he was very upset by this loss. He began to abuse alcohol, but then managed to pull himself together. He never realized his dream of creating a theater of illusions for children. Hmayak said that he was deceived many times and was not allowed to do so.

    9. Oksana Fedorova

    • Age: 44 years old
    • Years of work in the program: since 2002
Oksana Fedorova. Photo: vk.com/fedorova__oksana, Ivan Makeev

Miss Universe Oksana Fedorova recalled in one of her interviews that the film crew of the Good Night, Kids! received her very warmly. None of the staff thought she could stay in the program. As you can see, they were wrong. Oksana has been wishing good dreams to little viewers for 20 years. She sincerely loves children, and they love her back - they send letters and drawings.

Oksana is also sure that as soon as she had her own children (the presenter had a son and a daughter), the quality of the program changed, she began to behave differently in the frame, like a mother.

Oksana Fedorova loves animals. She admitted that “five Phils” live in her house, and once there was a “Matroskin cat”.

    10. Natalia Derzhavina - Piggy's voice

    • Year of death: 2002
    • Program years: 1971-2002
    Natalia Derzhavina. Photo: globallookpress

The story of the hosts of the program "Good night, kids!" impossible without mentioning the "mother Piggy" - actress Natalia Derzhavina. This fidget spoke in her voice for more than 30 years. She did not appear in the frame, but she did not need this for popular love. Before joining the program, she worked in the puppet theater, but she learned from a friend that the program required a voice actor for a new character and decided to try. She later said that "Piggy and I liked each other."

Natalia became related to this doll and perceived Khryusha as alive. From the "mother" he adopted many features. Natalia was often asked to congratulate the children on their birthday. She did not refuse and rejoiced, hearing in the receiver: “Piggy is calling me!”

The artist married early and gave birth to two sons, but the marriage did not work out. The second husband of Derzhavina supported her in everything and accepted the children as his own. In the last month of her life, Natalya did not voice Piggy due to a serious illness. She had an extensive purulent wound of her leg, and an urgent operation was required. However, the general state of health did not allow her to survive it. Natalya Derzhvina died on the night of March 10-11, 2002 at the age of 60.

Children's show "Good night, kids!" celebrates its anniversary

September 1 marks the 55th anniversary of the release of the first issue of the children's evening program "Good night, kids!". "Gazeta.Ru" tells the story of the kindest program, which was threatened with closure several times and suffered bans on the use of puppet characters.

The first episode of the children's evening show "Good night, kids!" was released on September 1, 1964 on the Second Program of the Central Television of the USSR. The idea to launch such a program came to the editor-in-chief of programs for children and teenagers, Valentina Fedorova, after visiting the GDR, where she saw the animated series about the sandman, popular in Europe. According to the plot, this character of European animation pours magical sand into the eyes of children who play until late, which makes them fall asleep.

Eduard Uspensky, Alexander Kurlyandsky, Roman Sef and other cultural figures stood at the origins of the program. When creating the project, the authors argued for a long time over its name, initially discussing such options as "Evening Tale", "Bedtime Story", "Visiting the Magic Man Tick-Tock" and simply "Good Night". Literally a day before the first broadcast, the show got the permanent name “Good night, kids!”.

For several years, the program consisted of changing pictures with voiceovers. Later, the creators improved the show by adding mini-plays and puppet shows. The first dolls in "Good night, kids!" there were Pinocchio and the hare Tepa, who were replaced by Shustrik and Myamlik dolls made in the theater of Sergei Obraztsov. Some episodes featured well-known theatrical actors telling fairy tales to the children present in the studio.

For half a century, the program has changed many hosts - at different times, Vladimir Ukhin, Valentina Leontieva, Angelina Vovk, Tatyana Vedeneeva, Yuri Nikolaev, Hmayak Akopyan, Yuri Kuklachev, Anna Mikhalkova, Dmitry Malikov, Oksana Fedorova and many others have held the honorary post. In the 1990s, the program was on the verge of closing due to a creative crisis, but survived. Now she has three TEFIs and broadcasts on the Karusel, Kultura and Rossiya-1 TV channels.

For the first time in its history, the program did not air on November 11, 1982 years old, the next day after the death of Leonid Brezhnev. During the days of mourning, Leontieva hosted a show with only one character - the dog Philya. In the same period, the creators of the program were forbidden to use puppet characters on the air. According to screenwriter Andrei Menshikov, the character Piggy could offend the feelings of Muslims.

“The cutest of all these monsters [Piggy] was banned by the Central Committee of the party, because, according to the leaders of our eastern Muslim republics, it was believed that a pig had no right to lull Muslim children,” said Menshikov.

The editors of the program were inundated with letters asking for the return of favorite characters, but this did not happen until 1990.

Also, the show was not aired from February 11 to February 21, 2014 due to broadcasts of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, and from March of the same year it stopped airing on Fridays. The show later went off the air due to a temporary expansion of news and political programming.

Throughout the history of the show, new characters have appeared in it. Pinocchio, Eroshka, the cat Tsap-Tsarapych, the parrot Kesha, Kinder Surprise and Bibigon from Chukovsky's fairy tales helped the hosts to entertain the children. Currently, there are five of the most famous heroes who have been delighting kids for decades.

The oldest remaining character is the dog Filya, who appeared on the show in May 1968. The first intelligent and well-read hero was voiced by Grigory Tolchinsky, and since 1988 the dog spoke in the voice of actor Sergei Grigoriev.

“I came to the program as a puppeteer, and another actor, Igor Galunenko, voiced the characters,” Grigoriev told Vesti in 2013, “But when it was necessary to reshoot the episode, he was not in Moscow, and the director told me: “So, take the doll and bark, Filya will go with your voice.

Two years after Fili, the hare Stepashka appeared, which became a kind of counterbalance for an overly active dog. Throughout his career on television, Stepashka speaks in the voice of Honored Artist of Russia Natalia Golubentseva.

A year after Stepashka, in February 1971, the pig Khryusha joined the company. His role in Goodnight, Kids! - the organizer of pranks in the absence of adult presenters. For about 30 years, Piggy was voiced by actress Natalya Derzhavina, and now the piglet speaks in the voice of Oksana Chabanyuk.

In 1979, the team of regular characters was also replenished with the black Karkusha, who became a kind of female version of Stepashka. Karkusha was voiced by Gertrud Sufimova, and now Galina Marchenko is working with this character.
