YouTube Kids was created to give kids a more contained environment filled with family-friendly videos on all different topics, igniting your kids’ inner creativity and playfulness. A safer online experience for kids
We work hard to keep the videos on YouTube Kids family-friendly and use a mix of automated filters built by our engineering teams, human review, and feedback from parents to protect our youngest users online. But no system is perfect and inappropriate videos can slip through, so we’re constantly working to improve our safeguards and offer more features to help parents create the right experience for their families.

Customize your child’s experience with Parental Controls
Limit screen time: Set a time limit for how long your kids can watch and help encourage their transition from watching to doing.
Keep up with what they watch: Simply check the watch it again page and you’ll always know what they’ve watched and the newest interests they’re exploring.
Blocking: Don’t like a video? Block the video or whole channel, and never see it again.
Flagging: You can always alert us to inappropriate content by flagging a video for review. Flagged videos are reviewed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Create individual experiences as unique as your kids
Create up to eight kid profiles, each with their own viewing preferences, video recommendations, and settings. Choose from “Approved Content Only” mode or select an age category that fits your child, “Preschool”, “Younger”, or “Older”.

Select the “Approved Content Only” mode if you want to handpick the videos, channels and/or collections that you’ve approved your child to watch. In this mode, kids won’t be able to search for videos. The “Preschool” Mode designed for kids 4 and under curates videos that promote creativity, playfulness, learning, and exploration. The “Younger” Mode allows kids 5-8 to explore their interests in a wide variety of topics including songs, cartoons, and crafts. While our “Older” Mode gives kids 9 and up the chance to search and explore additional content such as popular music and gaming videos for kids.

Our library is filled with family-friendly videos on all different topics, igniting your kids’ inner creativity and playfulness. It’s everything from their favorite shows and music to learning how to build a model volcano (or make slime ;-), and everything in between.

Other important information:
Parental setup is needed to ensure the best experience possible for your kid.

AMAZING APP but…..

I’ve had this app since u was 8 in 2020 I am now 10 and still using this wonderful app download this app now for your kids parents not YT,it’s not appropriate for kids under than 18 I recommend having YT when 18-20 or when your parents say you could have it but not ages to 4-13 to young DOWNLOAD NOWWWW but there’s a tiny problem some kids are getting tierd of seeing the same videos and not having something new!! And that’s why you should check what’s on it some of the stuff of for baby’s and 4-9 year olds don’t like those videos so mayb parents you shouldn’t even give your kid an iPad is too risky but YTK Aja not that bad I guess but it’s kinda boring in my opinion I recommend you for your kids to not have electronics maybe they can eliminate YTK and download inappropriate stuff so parents don’t give iPads and phones to your kids unless there 10-15 I recommend if not you’ll see…. . 2022 Sat October 15 11:52AM

Love this app!

So I think you should get this app because it doesn’t let your kid go on anything inappropriate. If you set it to their age then it will show age appropriate videos. And you can block channels and videos you might think are inappropriate for your kid. And your kid can be educated when they are on the app. Also you kid may also choose their profile picture! And what my kid loves about this app is that there is a cute little intro that shows you kid and me that their in the app. But what I absolutely love about this app is that you can set a timer when this app turns off. So if your little one is on this app then it will not let your kid in any of the videos. Don’t worry if your kid can get into the important stuff to control the app it has a math problem that your kid can’t solve. So this is the reason I think you should really get this app.

SAFETY INSURING PARENTS, CHECK THIS!

We all understand that safety is a primary factor for many online apps these days. But what comes to a parents’ mind: not all apps base their app on something for kids or minors. Which is truly accurate. If your kid requests an answer for whether or not they could have THIS app though…wow..I gotta say yes. It is actually NOT too good to be true…it’s amazingly filtered and hand-picked videos are selected for little kids and a bit older ones too. It ranges from 4 and under to 9-12. Sure, trusting an online review can be tough. Is this person throwing crazy ideas into a public letter or actually proposing something phenomenal? Go and look into the app yourself. Act as your child, see what they can access. Guaranteed happiness and ensured safety and appropriateness.

TV and children. What should parents know?

Nowadays TV is one of the most popular ways of leisure time entertainment not only for adults but also for children. There are many options for using TV: DVD, streaming video, video games. At the same time, teenagers and toddlers look at the screen not only of the TV, but also of a computer, smartphone, iPad, portable DVD player. Is the screen always harmful to children? Let's try to figure this out.

Does television benefit children?

Television programs may include entertainment and educational shows for children. However, watching too long will definitely not be good for the child, including his vision. Note that this is an inactive activity.

Sitting in front of a screen for hours distracts your child from active play and exercise, which is so necessary in order to grow up strong and healthy.

Social communication and the development of imagination, which is created during creative games, may also suffer. It is absolutely clear that the process of learning in creative games, especially together with other children, is the cornerstone of child development. Watching movies, even entertaining ones, is a passive recreation that does not involve children in active participation.

Why is it not safe for a child to watch TV?

To better understand the essence of such limitations, it is necessary to know how the child's vision system works and how children's eyes react to television and computer images.

During television broadcasts, visual images are perceived by the child's eyes as a light flux refracted in optical media and projected onto the retina.

In order to see the image more clearly, the child unconsciously strains certain structures of the organ of vision responsible for the clarity of visual perception.

When a child's visual system is regularly subjected to such a load without observing the necessary regimen, and the child spends a long time watching TV, his visual functions fail. The consequence of this may be the active development of myopia.

In addition, quite often, when there is insufficient lighting in the room and the bright backlight of a computer monitor or TV, the child's eyes get tired - visual fatigue sets in. It is accompanied by redness of the eyes, pain in them and headache.

Which TV programs are suitable for children?

Watch age-appropriate shows with your child. Try not to use the computer or TV for a long time when you are working with your baby. This will give you the opportunity to see what the child is watching and discuss the program with him in more detail.

There are a few general guidelines for watching TV programs for your child:

Watch TV only while sitting in a comfortable position.

Now there is a lot of talk about children's television and television for children. However, it is worth separating these two concepts. Television for children is programs created by adult professionals, work for which they receive money. It looks something like this: an aunt, who is abroad of Komsomol age, dressed in a frivolous flowered dress, with pigtails and hemp, like an older sister, communicates with purple, pop-eyed monsters, which, according to the director's plan, represent the perky world of childhood. Periodically, this action is interrupted by advice for viewers or excerpts from clearly non-Russian cartoons.

Another, more successful content for children's television is TV quizzes and sports competitions. But there is almost no direct communication between children and children from the TV screen, except for children with a frightened look, confusedly repeating words that are completely incomprehensible to them, written by someone unknown.

Unlike them, the programs created by children for their friends, classmates and peers do not suffer from false or far-fetched themes. Children have a huge and inexhaustible choice of topics for a report, a film, a round table or a survey. And most importantly, these topics are of concern not only to the authors, but also to most of the children's audience. It is not always easy for adults to find a common language with children, to penetrate into their vast and very interesting world and suggest a topic for transmission. It is better to listen to the children's options, analyze them and then work with the guys together.

"I'll do it myself"

Of course, give the child a camera and let one "on the big road", believing that a wonderful TV program is already ready, the idea is simply stupid. Many children already in school are interested in such subjects as the history of the visual arts, acting and speech technology. Additional knowledge of the operator course and the basics of journalism will help the children in creating programs for their peers. Naturally, it is necessary to involve a child psychologist. Close contact with parents is very important, especially those interested in organization of leisure, training and career guidance for their children.

The technical base of modern cinema and television has changed significantly. The development of computer and digital technologies, the emergence of a large number of specialists in this field make it possible to introduce them to the most promising part of society - children and youth. Children easily master complex equipment and programs. For them, there are practically no problems inherent in "adult" specialists in the transition from one type of technology to another, from analog to digital. While still the head of a large department of video equipment, I noticed that the slightest changes in technologies, formats, the location of control buttons, the transition to a computer literally stupefied specialists who had been working with familiar analog technologies for a long time.

Regional cable network may be the location. The broadcast schedule of a children's studio must be rigid: programs must be released at the same time, on the same day of the week. Children will not only sit in front of TVs themselves, but will also call their parents, friends, classmates - after all, they show their work, and they are also in the credits! Thus, the rating of children's programs will increase significantly, which will increase the interest of advertisers in these programs.

As for the federal children's TV channel, in my opinion, its programs should be tested on the basis of the regions. And then the best programs from the regions will be included in the air of the federal channel, promising authors and leaders should be invited to the center for training. And programs that are interesting should be subsidized from the federal budget.

Thus, programs for children will be created not only, say, in Moscow, but all over the country, in cities, villages, even villages. The whole of Russia will be covered, the interests of all children - of different incomes and social conditions, nationality and religion, traditions. With the distributed principle of content production, direct dialogue and efficiency in discussing any problems that concern children are possible. For correct and comprehensive television education, specialists must be selected and a production base created. The federal children's television channel, represented by teenagers interested in creating TV programs, will receive not only endless creative potential, but also tremendous efficiency. The influx of Western standards with murder, violence and perversion tires the mind of an adult and negatively affects the youthful perception of reality. The harmonious development of the young film and television audience in the near future will undoubtedly influence the development of "adult" cinema and television.
