How to choose ski boots - practical advice
Buying ski boots can be more difficult than it sounds. It is important to use and put them on correctly to make sure you are standing in the optimal position. A good foot position provides more comfort, more control and more fun on the slopes!

What to wear when trying on
It is better to choose wide ski pants to reduce the effect of the tourniquet. Anything too tight can affect blood flow and cause pain that is not associated with bots.
Be sure to try the ski toe boot. These are specialty socks, they are thinner in the forefoot area for better feel, reinforced in a stressed area (around the ankle or heel)
Avoid wearing thick woolen socks. Their thickness impairs contact and reduces the accuracy of movements. Their thickness can also cause pain in certain areas and affect blood flow, causing an uncomfortable chill.
Moreover, if you are accustomed to wearing anatomical insoles during sports, we strongly recommend that you replace the stock insoles with custom ones.
How to fasten properly
First, open all the buckles and turn them out so they don't get in the way.
Try the boot on the spot. Open it as wide as possible and slide your foot inside. Fingers should be touching the toe
Then start closing the strap at the top and fasten the buckles one by one, starting from the bottom. Don't pull with all your might. Then bend your knees a few times to help your leg stand up properly. Next is another stage of pulling the buckles.
If the boot is equipped with micrometric buckles, the parameters must be adjusted. Micrometric adjustments include a screw-down buckle for precise adjustment. When finished, the buckles should remain in the locked position, but without squeezing.
Adjust the belt if necessary.
On new boots, if you want to maintain an optimal fit over time, make sure no buckle is set too far
form around your foot and eventually the buckles will need to be re-tightened.
If you are already at the last tightening level, the boot may begin to wobble. Therefore, leave room for subsequent adjustments
How to choose the right size
As mentioned earlier, when you stand straight on your feet, your toes should lightly touch the tip of the boot. This is normal, the heel is not yet in its final position.
Bend your knees, as if you were on skis, feet resting on the back. You should feel that the heel is locked in the back and the toes are no longer touching the nose. The leg should not move left or right, no pressure should be felt on the lower leg, ankles, arch of the foot or toes.
Feeling comfortable is important!
More and more models are equipped with shrink liners, but what is it? These earbuds are made from a special foam that responds to low temperatures. Body heat is sufficient to soften this material and give it an anatomical shape.
All you have to do is ride for a few hours or a few days and your liner will slowly mold to the shape of your foot to ensure the perfect fit.
It is very important to use the correct size. If they are too big, the legs will start to move, creating friction and discomfort. If too small, your toes will be squeezed, blood flow will be interrupted, and you will feel cold.

Size in centimeters
To avoid confusion between UK, US or EU sizes, manufacturers adhere to one standard called Mondo point (foot length in centimeters).
Manufacturers produce series with different geometries. Some target narrow feet while others are best suited for wide feet
The forefoot should be the width of the metatarsals, the widest part of the foot. Heel counter width is always specified for 26.5, which is considered standard.
The standard will help you compare options to find the right width:
- if you have narrow feet, we recommend from 97 mm to 100 mm;
- if the legs are of medium width, you need from 100 to 102 mm;
- if the legs are wide - more than 102 mm.
Of course, these figures are only indicative. If you like to ski fast on some of the steepest slopes the resort has to offer, you can opt for a tighter fit to get more precision and performance.
If you like to travel at slow to medium speeds and need first-class comfort, then the wide version is the way to go.
The length must match the level of skiing
There are two types of skiers:
- experienced skiers tend to prefer accuracy over comfort. They will choose the option that exactly matches the length. An experienced skier with a foot length of 27 cm will choose the Mondo Point 27;
- simple skiers prefer comfort over performance. They can increase the value by half the size. A skier of this level with a leg length of 27 cm will choose the Mondo Point 27.5.
How to choose your insoles
For skiers, the foot is essential to getting on the right track, so it's essential that it stays comfortable despite all the pressures that affect it.
The leg is:
- an element of the musculoskeletal system, unique in its morphology;
- complex with 28 bones, 16 joints, 107 ligaments and 27 muscles;
is a sensitive part of the body as it serves as a kind of sensor.
